You Seem Taller In Your Trip Reports. A Baby at WDW - *HOLY COW! AN UPDATE!* 4/17 p26

Looks like y'all were having lots of fun at DHS! It can be so hard to keep your game face on when you're just so darn excited to be getting on TSMM. You can't help but to smile!

And I love all the JTA pics! I'm sure we'll be doing that one trip soon for our son. Although, he will probably want to join Vader. Santa brought him a Vader mask and he was beyond excited. :sad2:

We had a bit of time before we had to be at the Jedi Training Academy, so we headed over to Starring Rolls for a little late morning snack. Bambi had come across a picture of one of their menu items - a Red Velvet Cheesecake Cupcake - and decided this was a must do on this trip. Here's a tip for you guys out there - when your wife makes a "must do" list, do it. This thing was amazing.

.

So How did Ryder enjoy his handful of the cupcake?? :lmao:

I had to keep DS at least 3 feet away from any table that might have food on it. He would swipe and just grab anything he came in contact with. :rotfl2:

Hey there stranger. :wave2:

Looks like you were on a DISmeet marathon! :rotfl2:

Your updates are perfect for me.... 2 times this month. Wonder why Kathy hasn't suggested that you move a little faster. :scratchin

Love all the pics... Can't wait to meet Ryder in *GULP* 15 days.

Because he is editing my September photopass to get the crane out and I don't want him to do anything evil.

I don't even get Bambi's score without a baby in my hands. :rotfl2: Perhaps I shouldn't have just admitted that.

Great pictures of the kids doing their Jedi training and I love that picture of Darth in the red mist. My nephew really wants to do the Jedi thing this summer so I guess the key is to sign up early?

After the Monsters, Inc meet and greet, Ron and his family went their own way while we marched past the Splash Fountain and the giant misting Coke bottles to use our Toy Story Mania FastPasses.

Side note - I was all set to make fun of Hollywood Studios for having the Splash Fountain - a replica of a movie prop from 1984. I did just a bit of research and found that the sequel to Splash - "Splash Too" was the first movie filmed entirely at what was then known as Disney-MGM Studios. So I thought that was kind of neat and almost earned itself a reprieve from my mockery. But then I learned that Splash Too not only didn't star Tom Hanks or Darryl Hannah (or the majority of the original cast for that matter), but it was a direct-to-TV sequel that shown in 2 parts on different nights. Sorry, Hollywood Studios. You statue, while good intentioned, is lame.

And after all of that…
You didn’t even bother to delve into the colossal lameness of the giant misting Coke bottles?

But back to more important topics…

Considering that it’s you writing this and Brian playing the role of guest-star, I’d be willing to bet that right here you’ll go for a joke that’s even lamer and more obvious then the giant misting Coke bottles.

Yep…
Pay up!

We entered the FastPass line and started breezing by everyone standing in the normal queue. Brian stopped to talk to his neighbor that was in stand by. More proof that everyone in Canada really does know everyone else.

Well they ought to know each other. There are only about twenty folks living up there any more. All the rest moved to California to work in the film or recording industries long ago.

When we got to the spot where FP merges with the standby line, we were asked how many were in our party. We all stopped and looked around, counting silently in our heads until someone shouted "9, but one is a baby"

Good thing they didn’t have to rely solely on your math skills.

"Perfect" was the reply from the Cast Member/Gate Keeper, and were were ushered up the handicapped entrance, bypassing the stairs and bridge. They were just pulling up a set of ride vehicles to unload someone with special needs and needed to fill those cars.

Some times you win…

Madison and Bayley (Game face, girls. Game Face. This isn't a tea party, it's Toy Story Midway Mania.)

It depends on what game you’re playing as to what type of “game face” you need to use. You may be changing rolls from game to game, but the girls are always playing the same game (and always winning).

(See?! Ryder gets it! Game Face!)

Looks like he’s contemplating something less competitive and more digestive in nature.

And I've got to stop and compliment Bambi right here.

She hasn’t tossed you out on you @$$ yet…
you ought to stop and compliment her far more often.

109,000 while holding a baby. THAT'S how you play TSMM!

::yes::

(And as our Canadian friends would probably point out: The beaver is a truly proud and noble animal.)

Bunch a Loonies…

Here's a tip for you guys out there

**taking notes**

when your wife makes a "must do" list, do it.

**scratching out unneeded note**

That not a tip…
That’s a natural survival reaction.

Are you only just now learnin’ this stuff?
It ain’t no wonder she keeps havin’ to whomp you with an iron skillet.

Disney has you show up early to make sure every has time to use the little Jedi's room before training.

Thus relieving the potential that an internal Force might complicate their attempts to master that other Force.

We made the short walk over to the JTA stage, and while the kids got suited up in their robes, we met up with another DisDad - Nick (DisneyDaddy-O). Nick, like Brian is Canadian.

So who’d they leave back up there to feed the critters while everyone else was off to Florida?

As I stood there listening to them talk about where they live and what they do, I came to a realization... I can understand and speak fluent Canadian!

The folks in Quebec might beg to differ

I never studied anything,

Fixed that one for ya’

Nick runs a restaurant called Mad Millie's in Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada. If you're ever around, stop in and check it out. Tell them Barry sent you. It won't get you any special privileges…

But it may well get you a police escort directly out of Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada.

Meanwhile, the kids got their robes and took their assigned positions in the training area (which looks suspiciously like "stage").

Well…
the temple did get ransacked in Episode III.

Evan (thinking to self): “remember, let go your conscious self and act on instinct.”

Madison (thinking to self): “Really!!! We’re all set for my close up and this so called “Jedi Instructor” is standing right in the path of my Key Light! Idiot! Where’s the lighting designer….”

Brian - it was a blast hanging out with you guys while down in Disney World. One of these years we'll road trip into Canada (just as soon as I straighten out a few things with the Department of Homeland Security :rolleyes1).

Don’t wait up…
I suspect that could take a while.

Up Next: Lunch, and the patented Florida Summer Afternoon Downpour®.

Rain? In Florida?? Never…

But back to more important topics - us. We entered the FastPass line and started breezing by everyone standing in the normal queue. Brian stopped to talk to his neighbor that was in stand by. More proof that everyone in Canada really does know everyone else.

That day it seemed like I knew everyone in Canada.

In fact there were 3 Canadian friends I had in the park that day.

1) My neighbor that we net in line.
2) A co-worker - who I quickly introduced you to at Starring Rolls ;)
3) Another friend who I hadn't seen in a while, that we gave a couple extra FP's too, and later saw at the F! theater.

Was really a crazy day....

"Perfect" was the reply from the Cast Member/Gate Keeper, and were were ushered up the handicapped entrance, bypassing the stairs and bridge. They were just pulling up a set of ride vehicles to unload someone with special needs and needed to fill those cars. We slipped on our cool 3D shades and put on our game faces.

I think the reason for the Handicap area, was they remembered my score from a previous trip, it really was embarrassing. :rotfl2:

Evan and Seth

Madison and Bayley (Game face, girls. Game Face. This isn't a tea party, it's Toy Story Midway Mania.)
IMG_2235.JPG

Seth lives in GAME FACE mode... he's always prepared for a challenge to break out any moment. He only eats mushrooms because he thinks it'll make him bigger (Super Mario reference)
Bayely loves this ride, simply because it doesn't go fast, high, or upside down. :lmao:

Brian and Sheri (Seriously, are Evan and Seth the only ones that know how to do a good game face?)

IMG_2236.JPG

Bambi and Ryder. (See?! Ryder gets it! Game Face!)
IMG_2240.JPG

I think I see the problem with my Handicap... I have my canon aimed at the CM boarding us.

And notice Ryder... I think what you forgot to share is that he is wearing his 3D contact lenses, as the glasses kept slipping off his nose.

Our final score:

And I've got to stop and compliment Bambi right here. 109,000 while holding a baby. THAT'S how you play TSMM! (And as our Canadian friends would probably point out: The beaver is a truly proud and noble animal.)

See the 34 second mark... :mic:

Looks like you may have forgotten to return his 3D contacts... :3dglasses

As I stood there listening to them talk about where they live and what they do, I came to a realization... I can understand and speak fluent Canadian! It came as quite a shock. Nick runs a restaurant called Mad Millie's in Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada. If you're ever around, stop in and check it out. Tell them Barry sent you. It won't get you any special privileges, but it will sound cool.

ok, maybe 4 Canadian families.

Maybe I do know everyone in Canada... :rotfl2:

Was great meeting with Nick and his family as well. One day we are going to make a surprise trip down to Mad Millies... :thumbsup2

Meanwhile, the kids got their robes and took their assigned positions in the training area (which looks suspiciously like "stage").

Photo0653FourBySix.jpg

Using the Force requires a lot of concentration, doesn't it Evan?

Photo0662FourBySix.jpg

The force was strong with them that day! :yoda:

After the kids all got their JTA diplomas, we said good bye to our new Canadian friends. We had a lunch ADR and Brian and his family were headed off...somewhere else. Go read his on going Trip Report to find out where. Don't worry, he's writing it in English so all of us can follow along.

Brian - it was a blast hanging out with you guys while down in Disney World. One of these years we'll road trip into Canada (just as soon as I straighten out a few things with the Department of Homeland Security :rolleyes1). We'll hit up Nick for some free Fish & Chips! And if you're ever in Wisconsin, deep fried cheese is on me.

Thanks for the TR plug... I may actually have to now go and do an update or two... :sad2:

It really was great meeting up with you guys as well... The kids really had a great time with each other, just like lifelong friends.
If you are ever in Canada, please do stop by for a Great Canadian BBQ.

You know I know someone who has a TR that gets updated pretty regularly, but all the guys with exception of Andy and Mark, seen to have disappeared.:confused3

are you talking about yours? i commented yesterday.:goodvibes

My sister and I just found your TRs and are enjoying them immensely! Thanks, and don't take too long on the next update! :hyper:

Hey there! :wave2:

I'm jumping on board late, but have caught up on this TR and your cruise TR too... And aw, what a gorgeous family you have! My favourite pics are still the ones of Ryder strapped to your chest during mini-golf. Just adorable!

DH and I are just starting to plan our trip back to WDW in Oct / Nov... 8 nights in WDW, then a Disney Dream cruise to the Bahamas. So excited! This time we'll have our (yet to be born!) 7 month old baby with us, so I've been pinching a few of your ideas, for both the cruise and travelling with babies! (Mini-golf included... :) )

One little random question - you said you travelled via the Magical Express. Did you feel comfy carrying Ryder on the bus? Maybe it's because our little one is yet to be born, and we're so worried about buying the perfect carseat with correct safety harnesses at the moment... I feel a bit nervous about carrying our baby on the bus, no seat belts or anything. Maybe it's just me! I'd love to hear what you thought though.

Oops, it seems I've rambled for long enough, but thanks for a fabulous trip report so far and I look forward to lots more!

That was an awful long, drawn out way of saying your gut instinct was correct. :rotfl2::lmao:
On an unrelated note - I have a very long and drawn out gut.
Not necessarily, but it does confirm that they're polite to a fault. Unless you work at a Ford dealership in Ohio.
Well to be fair, nobody like people that work in Ford dealerships in Ohio. I wonder if Scott will see that or if I just wasted a small part of the Internet on a burn that will never be seen?

That's what happens when you have the Controller of the Universe with you.
It's not what you know, it's who you know!:thumbsup2

Ok. But only if it involves a dessert. I can think of plenty of things that she might think are a must do that I'll be happy to pass on.
Consider my original point amended.
That's because your from Wisconsin. That's like South Canada.
Canada is more like North Wisconsin. But to-MAY-to, to-MAH-to.

Well, he is your son.
Yup. And I've got two of them. I can't wait until they start combining their powers. Either for good or evil - either way, it's going to be spectacular!

Nice job! :thumbsup2 That should at least make up for one bad pun.
Good. I'll see if I can come up with a bad one...

For a good chocolate chip cookie, I probably would too.
And milk.
Yeah, but you update more frequently than he does, and that ain't saying much.
I've been away for almost a week. Did I miss anything over there?

Great game day faces (or Evan is passing gas because of that darn shirt he is wearing!)
Behold the power of cheese!

It's always a tea party for the girls; and I don't think Madison has a mean face of any kind.
Oh, she does. And when she uses it, it's a doozy!

He's growing too fast...stop him right now!
I've heard cigaretts stunt your growth. I'll start him on a pack and a half a day habit right away.

You continue to amaze me, my friend.
Honestly, Kathy, I amaze myself!

Great photos of the kids with the Jedi training (wish they'd had something like that when my kids were small)
You could probably sneak them in. If they question their age, just say we grow 'em big up in the midwest.

The question is: will the next update get done BEFORE or AFTER your next trip to Disney???? :lmao::lmao::lmao: Love you, Barry.
Umm...I'd go with after.

Hi Barry and Bambi!

I'm Connie. I have lurked thru and thoroughly enjoyed all of your trip reports. I don't typically post just because I spend way too much time here if I do. BUT, I did finally want to drop in and say "hello". :wave2: Though, I must admit, my motivation is largely selfish. I have a brand new ticker to show off and you're the first of my subscribed threads to update since I added it. Technically, I haven't booked anything yet, but the plan is in motion.

Thanks for sharing all your stories. I really do enjoy them and appreciate you taking the time. Can't wait to read more! :goodvibes
It's great to hear from your Connie! Congrats on the ticker! I hope to get around to finishing this TR soon so I can get going on the one for the Half Marathon trip we just got back from.

Ryder's game face is almost as if he's saying what are they taking me on now! :confused3:goodvibes
I think he liked that ride. The movement of the cars was a bit fast, but he really liked the bright colors on the screens.

Looks like y'all were having lots of fun at DHS! It can be so hard to keep your game face on when you're just so darn excited to be getting on TSMM. You can't help but to smile!
:thumbsup2
And I love all the JTA pics! I'm sure we'll be doing that one trip soon for our son. Although, he will probably want to join Vader. Santa brought him a Vader mask and he was beyond excited. :sad2:
I'm sure they have a script they they can follow if a kid does decide to join Vader. And I'd love to see what it is!

So How did Ryder enjoy his handful of the cupcake?? :lmao:

I had to keep DS at least 3 feet away from any table that might have food on it. He would swipe and just grab anything he came in contact with. :rotfl2:
Ryder is getting to be the same way. It's amazing how wide of a wingspan he has when there is food (or anything messy) remotely close.

15 days? Wow, I sure and behind the times, huh?

Because he is editing my September photopass to get the crane out and I don't want him to do anything evil.
Yes, and I was too busy to even have time to really decorate one up. I was going to give you guys both those silly Minnesota Viking Helmets with the long yellow braids. Next time, I promise. :rotfl:

I don't even get Bambi's score without a baby in my hands. :rotfl2: Perhaps I shouldn't have just admitted that.
Or try borrowing someone's baby. Might help. :confused3
Great pictures of the kids doing their Jedi training and I love that picture of Darth in the red mist. My nephew really wants to do the Jedi thing this summer so I guess the key is to sign up early?
Yes - as early as you can! Bambi and Sheri took the kids right at rope drop and by the time they got to the front of the line to sign up at least one (maybe 2) shows were completely full. And there were probably 100 kids in line behind them yet!

And after all of that…
You didn’t even bother to delve into the colossal lameness of the giant misting Coke bottles?
They'd be even lamer if they were "New Coke"

Considering that it’s you writing this and Brian playing the role of guest-star, I’d be willing to bet that right here you’ll go for a joke that’s even lamer and more obvious then the giant misting Coke bottles.

Yep…
Pay up!
You know me too well, Rob.

Well they ought to know each other. There are only about twenty folks living up there any more. All the rest moved to California to work in the film or recording industries long ago.
Must be a long ride to Hollywood on a dog sled.

Good thing they didn’t have to rely solely on your math skills.
I'm also very good at seeing when someone is making fun of me. Luckily, none of that is happening here.

It depends on what game you’re playing as to what type of “game face” you need to use. You may be changing rolls from game to game, but the girls are always playing the same game (and always winning).
Yes, but they still have cooties.

Looks like he’s contemplating something less competitive and more digestive in nature.
Perhaps I will regret giving him chili for lunch...

She hasn’t tossed you out on you @$$ yet…
you ought to stop and compliment her far more often.
She is a saint, isn't she?

Thus relieving the potential that an internal Force might complicate their attempts to master that other Force.
Or piddling on the stage. Kind of the same thing.

So who’d they leave back up there to feed the critters while everyone else was off to Florida?
It was August. The permafrost had thawed just enough for some grass to pop through that the critters could graze on.

The folks in Quebec might beg to differ
From what I understand, that's not actually Canada.

But it may well get you a police escort directly out of Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada.
If the RCMP does it, do they ride you of town on a horse? :confused3

Evan (thinking to self): “remember, let go your conscious self and act on instinct.”
Close. It was more like "I'm wreck havoc with this thing. At my signal - unleash hell!"

Madison (thinking to self): “Really!!! We’re all set for my close up and this so called “Jedi Instructor” is standing right in the path of my Key Light! Idiot! Where’s the lighting designer….”
Yup. Pretty much nailed that one though!

Did I really never comment on this chapter? What's wrong with me?

Don't answer that.

Sorry, Hollywood Studios. You statue, while good intentioned, is lame.

I read through this whole paragraph and my only reaction was, "They really made a movie called Splash Too??":confused3

Madison and Bayley (Game face, girls. Game Face. This isn't a tea party, it's Toy Story Midway Mania.)

Brian and Sheri (Seriously, are Evan and Seth the only ones that know how to do a good game face?)

Bambi and Ryder. (See?! Ryder gets it! Game Face!)

Ever see that Bobby Knight interview where he tried to figure out what a game face looked like?

And I've got to stop and compliment Bambi right here. 109,000 while holding a baby. THAT'S how you play TSMM!

Impressive. :darth: She beat my score, and I wasn't holding a baby.

Looks like Ryder thought so, too.

We wasted no time in rushing over to the JTA meeting area in the Sounds Dangerous building...so we could wait around for 20 minutes. Disney has you show up early to make sure every has time to use the little Jedi's room before training.

It did seem like they could cut that wait a bit.

As I stood there listening to them talk about where they live and what they do, I came to a realization... I can understand and speak fluent Canadian! It came as quite a shock. I never studied it or anything, yet here I was standing amung two Canucks and understanding perfectly everything they said.

Wow! I've always wanted to learn Australian, myself.

Being young padawans, they were given training light sabers until which time as they could control the Force enough to handle a real one. This was a good idea on Disney's part, because I can only imagine the devastation Evan would cause with an uncontrolled light saber. Honestly, I was a bit worried about the devastation he might cause with just a training light saber.

I just wanted to say a belated thank you for not giving him a lightsaber while we were in Chicago.

Thoroughly impressed with his skills, and convinced that he would never turn to the Dark Side, Vader switched his focus to Madison. Here we see him talking to Madison, telling here to come to the Dark Side, where together they would rule the galaxy. Luckily, she was disinclined to acquiesce to his request. (Means "no."). ((And for anyone keeping track at home, yes, I just combined Star Wars and Pirates of the Caribbean. You're welcome.))

Double the awesomeness!

It's a good thing he forgot to mention that the Dark Side has cookies. She probably would have joined.

I could definitely see Madison walking around the park holding Vader's hand as she guides him through the dance steps during the parade.

And the President of Canada. Or Grand Pooba or Prime Minister or whatever you guys call him. :rotfl2:

I think the reason for the Handicap area, was they remembered my score from a previous trip, it really was embarrassing. :rotfl2:
Whatever, it worked. :thumbsup2

Seth lives in GAME FACE mode... he's always prepared for a challenge to break out any moment. He only eats mushrooms because he thinks it'll make him bigger (Super Mario reference)
I wonder if you'd hear BaDing BaDing BaDing sound when he does start to grow.
Bayely loves this ride, simply because it doesn't go fast, high, or upside down. :lmao:
Hmmm...those are all great ideas for when they build TSM 2.0!

I think I see the problem with my Handicap... I have my canon aimed at the CM boarding us.
Maybe you're really left handed?:confused3

And notice Ryder... I think what you forgot to share is that he is wearing his 3D contact lenses, as the glasses kept slipping off his nose.
He doesn't need 3D glasses or contacts. We got that option build in - it's new on the 2012 models. It was a bit more expensive, but I think it will be worth it in the end.

ok, maybe 4 Canadian families.

Maybe I do know everyone in Canada... :rotfl2:

Was great meeting with Nick and his family as well. One day we are going to make a surprise trip down to Mad Millies... :thumbsup2
Sounds like fun! Have some for me!

The force was strong with them that day! :yoda:
Yes, yes it was.

Thanks for the TR plug... I may actually have to now go and do an update or two... :sad2:
How's that working out for you?

It really was great meeting up with you guys as well... The kids really had a great time with each other, just like lifelong friends.
If you are ever in Canada, please do stop by for a Great Canadian BBQ.
Sounds like a plan!

My sister and I just found your TRs and are enjoying them immensely! Thanks, and don't take too long on the next update! :hyper:
Welcome! Sorry it's taking so long - with the holidays and our WDW Marathon Weekend trip things have just been crazy. I hope to get another update done here this week. But I've said crazy stuff like that in the past...

Happy New Year

happynewyearpooh.gif
Thanks Kathy! Even though it's closer to Groundhog's Day now....:sad2:

Hey there! :wave2:

I'm jumping on board late, but have caught up on this TR and your cruise TR too... And aw, what a gorgeous family you have! My favourite pics are still the ones of Ryder strapped to your chest during mini-golf. Just adorable!
Thanks and Welcome to the trip report!
How exciting! Pinch away!
Ah, yes the "first time parents." Everyone goes through it with their first child - the worry, the angst, the need that everything be perfect safe for the baby. We did it too. But by the time your second or third child rolls around, you pretty much forget about all of that.
We were perfectly fine carrying Ryder on all of the busses. He was just fine sitting on our lap or taking a nap on our shoulders. I wouldn't worry about it. (Oh, and contrats on the little one!)

Oops, it seems I've rambled for long enough, but thanks for a fabulous trip report so far and I look forward to lots more!
Nah, feel free to ramble! Ask any questions you want. I'll answer them, then Bambi will proofread and more than likely respond with the correct answer!
