Sigh... just came across this topic and was like hey, we need something like that. Had the bf go check steam and it's back at $60.

Have him put it on his wish list, they'll email when it goes on sale again. I'd guess that would be Christmas at the latest

Do you guys use the cloud sync? Is it safe? Does it just link your YNAB software on different devices?

Yes, it just keeps the devices synced. And YNAB does not store your bank account info, just transaction amounts so the risk of identity theft is nil

Does anyone use YNAB that doesn't also use a smartphone? It seems like it might work better if you have it accessible all the time....I had also decided to go for it and missed out on the deal so I have time to think about it or do the free trial....just curious about using it without a smart phone.

It just makes entering purchases easier because you can do it on the spot, but it's not essential

OK I've made some progress. I have added all of my credit cards and created all the categories I can think of right now. Then I also added categories for checking account and cash.

I am not adding my 2 savings accounts right now since I have money directly deposited from them from my paycheck (so it never hits my checking account). Also not adding mortgage

And signed up for a webinar.

Does that sound about right?

OP, I just wanted to come back and say thanks to you and all others that encouraged YNAB. I love it and I think after a few months of consistant use it will benefit my family immensely. A week after I bought YNAB my house flooded because of a broken sewer main in the house and we have a restoration company now doing the work to make it habitable again. YNAB is helping me stay sane with all the money going out of my pocket right now so I can keep track of expense and what I can look foward to as a reimbursement. I cannot tell you how much I apppreciate being able to retain my sanity and manage our money in such a difficult situation Thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!!

YNAB currently on sale again through Steam for half off. It might go lower at some point this Christmas, but if you've been thinking about buying half off is pretty good! Sale ends Dec 3rd

And now on sale directly through YNAB, much easier than dealing with Steam if you don't already use it
