You Know Your Stuck In The 80's If.......

I was at Kohls last night looking for hoodies for my teen boys...so this was in the young men's section...and it appears that 80s colors and patterns are making a comeback. Like the pastelly zigzags and checkers, etc. I picked one up for my 16 year old, just out of curiousity. Figured I'd take it back if he didn't like it. He LOVED it; is wearing it today.

Yeah, they totally have 80s style clothes coming in, thats where I saw the acidwashed colored jeans that just came in. Its crazy

melt your eyeliner with match and then put on the rim of your eye
spray hair with hairspray BEFORE you wrap it around your curling iron

Porky's movies

Electric youth, Navy, and Exclamation perfumes

lol...I didn't realize the match on your eyeliner was limited to the 80s, but now that I think about it, it is odd that I haven't had to do it since....lol

And, Porky's movie...OMG....I was 10ish I think and could have sworn that was the first porn movie I ever watched!!

And, the perfumes you mentioned!! Takes me back!!! Toooo funny!

Or...two painted hands on your half t-shirt that say, "You can't touch this!" :lmao: I admit it -- I bought that t-shirt at the beach in Ocean City. :sad2:

Loved making those barrette clips with the small ribbons. And putting those roach clips with feathers in my hair. (I had no idea what they were REALLY used for).

Remember those "books" you'd make in middle school? 20 or so questions, all stapled together. The first page, you'd pick a number (1-25) and put your name. The next page would have a question at the top, like "What's your favorite group?" You'd find your number, then fill in your answer. LOL - and if the cool kids filled out your book, then you were "cool" for that day, too.

Ahhh. Acid-washed jeans with a zipper at the bottom and a bow at the top. Always worn with neon socks and high heels. I kinda' miss those...

Hyper color tee-shirts.

Rubber bracelets...lots of them..in neon.

granny boots.

Jelly shoes.

Headbands.

Denim jackets covered in pins, buttons, charms or with the big Heavy Metal band patches on the back.

TWO or more scrunchy socks over the cuff of your jeans to coordinate with your shirt.

Trapper Keepers.

Bananarama.

I remember sitting by my parents' big stereo for hours with my tape recorder at the ready, just in case that song came on!

Also.....
Coke (as in Coca-Cola) clothing, watches, sunglasses, etc.

Hot Hit Video

slow dancing to Careless Whispers by Wham!

waiting anxiously for the afternoon paper to find out how Michael Jackson was doing after the incident with his hair catching fire during the shooting of the Pepsi commercial

Band Aid - "Do They Know It's Christmas?"

Max Headroom

The Facts of Life with a VERY young George Clooney (who's getting ready to shoot a movie across the street from my office, incidentally...the trucks just showed up this morning and they're starting to get things set up. It's so cool!)

neon EVERYTHING (especially in stores, like the store featured on The Facts of Life)

the giant oversized Swatches that were actually wall clocks

...and sort of merging this concept with another thread, the 1st 2 concerts I attended without my parents were Duran Duran (Big Thing tour) and Information Society!

You actually know the words to "Rock Me Amadeus"...

I remember being out with a group of friends at the local Pizza Hut...which had a jukebox....we played played "Rock Me Amadeus" about ten times in a row, back to back, nonstop...you had to have been there....

I can't believe no one has mentioned Rick Springfield.

*rowr*

At my (now-former) job, I was known as the "goth-punk-rocker chick." But I will never forget the look on a coworker's face when he asked me what I was listening to and I answered "Rick Springfield."

HOW ABOUT THE 1980'S PREPPIES??!!!

I was apart of the 1980's 'preppy group', whose garb included the original all leather Coach bag, bermuda bags, duck shoes and the Lacoste Izod Alligator shirt (before they split the name of the two brands), and cloth covered headbands, to hold back the perscribed 'muffy cut'.

Yes, I did own a copy of the preppy handbook, and will admit that I did own an outfit that was comprised of a green plaid kilt skirt (with the large kilt pin), green knee socks, penny loafers, and to top it off a yellow shetland wool sweater, with while turtle neck under the shetland sweater. A clubbing outfit comprised of either Calvin Klein or Vanderbilt jeans with one or two izod shirts with the collars turned up, and a pair of either ballerina flats, or maybe some heels with the jeans.

I wish I still fit in my Calvins (sigh......... :dance3: :wave::dance3: )

Or if you see a Mustang GT 5.0 with t tops or Iroc and have flashbacks that you will never share with your child:rotfl2: Listening to Ac/Dc back in black, those were the days.

I remember sitting by my parents' big stereo for hours with my tape recorder at the ready, just in case that song came on!

Every Sunday I would sit by the radio with my tape recorder ready--American Top 40 with Casey Kasem was on! :cool1:

I still have (and use) mine! I bought it in the very early '90s, but it still looks amazing, and it's ridiculous how soft the leather is.

I was a total preppy, too. :cutie:

...and in a fit of nostalgia, I'm actually watching Top Gun on my iPod as I type this (well, and as I work, too). It is *stunning* how bad Tom Cruise's singing voice is.

I remember I had a poster of Spuds McKenzie...

speaking of posters...
Tiger Beat
Bop

I had posters from those magazines everywhere!!!
