You know it's summer when the vandalism starts!

OK, we left a car sitting out because we were doing some work in the garage and didn't want to move stuff. This morning we find all headlights and taillights knocked out and the liscence plate spray painted. Honestly, it's not major damage and more a pain than anything, but I'd still like to get my hands on the little *&$#@!s that did it!!!!! :furious: Every summer the same thing.

Has vandalism season started in your neighborhood???

I dont know that we have a start date, but it does seem to pick up when schools out

Yikes! Makes what's going on here seem mild by comparison. We have, what I call, the Mailbox Morons and they're at it again.

When we first moved here, our mailbox got beat up 3 times within a very short period. I finally called the cops just to leave a report (actually I was hoping they'd increase their visits to our street  ) and a deputy came over to our house to do the paper work. He was very nice and after the visit there were no more incidents for months.

That is until this week. Our mailbox has some new dents in it while others on the street are either laying on the ground or missing all together.

Seeing how this is most likely done from a car, the individuals doing it are not young teens. Now wouldn't you think they could find something better to do with their time?

Our school raised $35,000 to put up a new playground. It went up on May 20. It already has graffiti written on it. :sad2:

I think those kids are making trips to NY also. My neighbors mailbox has been cherry bombed almost every year. He made his own custom ones, and so he used to rebuild it whenever it was destroyed. After about the 5th time he just gave up.

I usually get a different form of "vandalism" in the summer time. We live on a bend in the road and many teenage drivers take the turn too fast. It is always fun to wake up to huge muddy tire marks across your lawn. It increases about this time of year, when all the new drivers get their licenses.

The vandals also like to spray paint street signs. The speed limit sign on my block says 30 mph. Someone made the 3 look like an 8. Because apparently that is funny. :sad2:

Oh, hilarious! These kids are the next Jay Lenos! :sad2:

I bought a solid steel mailbox at Lowes. A VERY solid steel mailbox. It's resisted the mailbox vandals for several years now

Are you issuing a challenge??? :lmao:

We have the mailbox vandals too. Ours has been knocked down or completely stolen a few times - we now use a PO Box for our mail so at least we don't have to worry about the mail going missing too.

Makes me really glad I live in such a nice, small town!

That would drive me nuts... I am so glad out mailboxes here are attached to the house.

Nothing yet this year but I did have a condom in my doorhandle of my car one morning. :crazy2: I also have the passenger side mirror broken on both cars the same night.

Oh, ours is a nice small town! Everyone knows everyone. That's why I'm wondering which little %$#&*! did this! There's just not enough to do around here and the kids wander around alot at night.

Of course, it would be nice if the parents paid attention to what their kids were doing...

Luckily none of that kind of stuff happens where I live...That I know about!
Really we leave bikes, toys...etc outside and no one eve even touches them.

It's funny, we live in that kind of town too. No one ,and I repeat, no one even locks their doors (people are always saying, that paper you need will be on the washing machine. Just go in the back door. ) And no one locks up their bikes in town or anything. Thats why I'm pretty sure that this is kids. We never have any real serious crime. Just stupid stuff. I mean, it's criminal, and they are stupid, bored, little jerks, but you don't really hear about anything stolen other than beer from refrigerators or once in awhile something stolen from unlocked cars left in driveways over night.

The cops told me that there were broken headlights and spray painted liscence plates all over town last night! If this was the work of adults, I would seriously wonder about their maturity level!

never had any problems here and we leave our cars outside a lot especially during garage sale season :)

Definitley kids then! What a pain!

When school lets out for any warm weather break like spring or summer around my area, the vandalism always picks up. A few years ago during the spring break time, my parents neighborhood was hit by teens who were using cordless drills with small drill bits and drilling small holes into peoples tires. They got two tires on my dad's motor home and those tires are expensive to replace, heavy too. My dad took a walk around the block and saw quite a few cars that were left outside for the night, all had flat tires. Those idiot kids caused over 2 grand in damaged tires that night.

I understand that teens do stupid things and I did my fair share but never on this scale of damage. My mailbox used to get hit all the time along with others in my neighborhood. Until I got fed up and had a custom one made at a metal fabricator in my area. It's a solid monster of thick, heavy metal and is one of a kind. It may not be pretty but it could stop a bullet if it had too, it's that thick and took 3 people to help me put in the ground. It's been in the ground for over 8 years and not one time has it failed me. One time I found part of a wooden bat beside it and I'm sure the kid who tried, probably broke his arm from the impact of the hit. Never have had a problem since. Problem solved.

The only think that happens where we live is the mailboxes being smashed. Ours have never been touch, maybe the Halloween bribes are working!!!!

Yep...we don't have it very often but our mailbox got nailed sometime between Friday night and Saturday. The weirdest thing is they spray painted it but only *part* of it. The door part and then just *part* of one side is white now -- where it's really burgandy. They either ran out of spray paint in the middle of the job or got caught partway through. It's nothing too bad, we just have a funny looking mailbox that looks like we decided to spray paint it and changed our minds 1/2 through or something. BIZARRE.

We have lived in this neighborhood for 13 years and the only other thing that has happened is that one winter it was warmer than normal, we had a light up Santa in our yard and someone stole it (poor DD was little and thought Santa wouldn't come because he was stolen out of our yard!).
