I've got my own eBay room now!

LOL, Jenifer, I have 2 words: storage containers! I can now work on stuff in my dining room, but keep it all packed up in a GIGANTIC plastic storage container I got at Target. And I have a desk, cabinet, a coffee table and 2 end tables in my cellar lined up in a row with all my packing materials. So, I can keep all my currently listed items within 12 feet of my computer, but all the packing mess is confined to the cellar. It seems to be working out, anyway.

How nice of you to offer a GWP, but I hope people are bidding tonight for both our sakes!

Another question for you all:

My SO came home about 5 minutes ago witha mug he found going through his moms old stuff. It was a ceramic Country Bears WDW mug made to look like a wood carving from 20 years ago. Unfortunately it's chipped.

I have never sold anything on Ebay that wasn't in perfect condidtion. Has anyone here ever done so? If so, did your items sell? Does anyone think this would actually sell, or is it not worth the insertion /gallery fees?

I described it in my auction exactly the way it was and the bidding went wild!

The one thing you can bank on is that you never, ever know what people on eBay are going to buy!!!!

Exactly! I'd definately put that sucker up! Just be sure to tell it's chipped...even take a photo of it to put in. I bet it'll sell!

I'm sorry....did I read that correctly: over $100??? How does a worn book sell for that much? Did it belong to Walt Disney himself or something??????????? Haha...i would love for my things to sell for that, but I doubt they will sinse I start them off at a buck or two.

Yes - you read it right..

"Collectors" are an odd bunch and will often pay outrageous prices for items - regardless of the condition.. It seems to be especially so with Disney items..

Check out the Disneyea section in the collectibles category from time to time and you will find your jaw dropping on a regular basis - LOL..

Help! Quick!

I have an address for FPO, AA 34099-6004. (Also has a COMUSNAV etc on it). Can this be shipped Priority Mail? It keeps coming up as an invalid street etc.

Also - when shipping a box of books, what is the benefit of Media Mail vs. Parcel Post?

Yes that can be shipped priorty however you can't use the SA to print out a label and you can get DC for it either . but you can get Ins for it. When I had an APO I just wrote the address on the box and when I went to the PO I had to fill out a customs sheet?(it was green)for it. I was origionally going to ship it Parcel post but the PO guy said that that could take forever to get there (ie slow boat ).

Media is much cheaper than PP however it takes longer for it to get there.

Weird - When I checked my prices, my 57 pounds of books were $3 cheaper via Parcel than Media. However, I stated Media so that is the way I am going. It's only Wisconsin to Chicago so it shouldn't be too bad.

Question for anyone... I got an email from a bidder this morning asking if I ship to Puerto Rico.... Can you give any tips on shipping and how much, etc.. The package will weigh 2 pounds. Can anyone advise of how to best ship.. Just trying to decide if it would be worth it.. Thanks again..

Ebay fees are increasing on February 2nd - so you might want to get busy and list as much as you can this month..

You can read about it in the General Announcments on eBay..

A small sample -

.01 to .99 starting price 30 cents

$1.00 to $9.99 starting price 35 cents


10-day auction listings (now 10 cents) 20 cents

Don't know about anyone else here, but I can't afford to pay the fees that would be incurred if I were to list an item between .01 and .99 and then had it actually sell for the opening price..

What I see happening with that is sellers really, REALLY padding their S&H to make it worthwhile - or pulling the auctions just before they end if the items don't go above those opening prices..

A 5 cent increase for the $1 to $9.99 auction doesn't sound like much in theory, but when you list 50 to 100 items a week, that can add up REAL quick!!

I've never used the 10-day auction - and I'm sure not going to start now at 20 cents per auction..

I don't see these increases as being a good thing for the seller or the buyer..

Of course they would raise fees once I will be able to start listing again. I already packed up most of my ebay stuff.

I generally add the listing fees to my S/H, so I will just have to adjust this increase into them.

I can see more people trying to start their listings at $.99 and hope that it is bid up to the price they really want, at first at least.

I think we (I) am just going to have to be more and more careful when it comes to how much we pay for our items. In theory, we should be able to factor in the listing fees, whatever they might be, in with our asking price. But, since yardsales have been scarce lately, I've been buying at auctions more and sometimes paying too much for stuff to be able to effectively factor in the listing fees and make a decent profit. I've got to quit that and know when it's time to keep my hand down.

We've (I) got to remember to Buy Low and Sell High.

My other problem has been that my mind is on my upcoming WDW trip and I can't seem to focus on eBay right now. I should be concentrating on making even more money, but instead I'm worrying about late flights, Dad in an ECV, updating my "Mary Poppins Bag", etc. etc. etc.

As a seller when do you post feedback to the buyer? As soon as the money is in your hands? Or after the transaction is complete and they leave feedback? So far I've been leaving it as soon as I have the money but not sure if that's the way to go about it. Thanks in advance for any help!
