HOW LONG WOULD you wait before you contacted Paypal for a chargeback? Am I being way too impatient? I did the BIN on 12/9 and I realize that was less than a week ago. I'm just very suspicious due to the email I got from Ebay. Can cooler heads prevail here? Could I have some unbiased help? I think I'm too suspicious to be reasonable here!!

Since you have figured out that the DC was purchased from the post office I would think that would be a good sign. Your seller made a trip and purchased the DC, it seems that if he did that much, the package more than likely was mailed. You don't mention how it was mailed though...by priority or first class? Priority would be 2-3 days normally, but with the holiday season maybe up to 4 days?? First class....longer. Maybe give it a couple more days.

My friend actually thought she was getting actual pencil drawings. He never says it is a photo copy. He describes his picture using a term like pencil drawing print. Then with the same terms he says you can find similar prints for $100 in stores. I decided to email him and ask him if these are copies or originals, he replied with a book.

I read through the ebay page you had the link to. Okay....I believe that his ad is deceiving for a couple of reasons. 1) he has a pencil laying next to the drawing (would make you think this is a drawing), 2) the category he has it listed under. Personally I think he should have listed under Art, not the subject of the drawing (the may be an issue with Ebay?) 3) Title of the auction is "Pencil Drawing", not "Pencil Drawing Print". He does state a couple of times in the auction that this is a print, so maybe he can get away with this?? I would think you could report all 3 ebay.

My friend actually thought she was getting actual pencil drawings. He never says it is a photo copy. He describes his picture using a term like pencil drawing print.

As far as a print would go....a print is a photocopy of a drawing or sketch....so a good laser copy would be acceptable if an item is listed as a print. But that also gets back to the issue where the title is misleading, even though the "print" is included in the description.

NOW...you said that the prints are different sizes? Is each print the size that is stated in the auction? If not, she has received something not as described, so she would have recourse...either to work it out with the seller and if she doesn't get any cooperation I think ebay would help at that point.....also you mentioned that one print was folded, which also be something that was not described....it states that the seller rolls his prints for shipping....so again, she can try to resolve this with the seller or with ebays help. If she did purchase the items using paypal and she does not get any satisfaction from the seller she could always do a chargeback.
Maybe your friend can try to email once to try and straighten all of this out with her seller....as far as the size and condition of the prints. However it works out for her, I think she should probably let ebay know about the listing.

I don't know about the Paypal chargeback. If this is about the condition of the item, Paypal won't be involved. It would have to be "not" the item you bought before they would prob get involved. CC charge backs are easier. You don't want PP to freeze YOUR accoutn while looking into this, as they have been known to do.

Also, our of fairness, I wonder if, since the person's site ebay site was posted here, if they should be invited also? I thought way back in the begining, it was mentioned not to post other people's ebay sites. Not that I care,(just playing Devils advocate I guess)but I did think we weren't suppose to post auctions, but if anyone wanted to see it, they would pm you to get it.

I remember a couple of years ago, one of my auctions was posted on a board, because someone thought I was "against ebay rules" posting a choice..and they didn't know that eBay had ok'd the kind of choice I was offering. I had several hundred hits and a lot of letters from people, without being able to offer my side. Of course then someone invited me, and I was able to explain, and I'm now a part of that board. So, I'm a little sensative to that.

DMRick, you are right in the fact that I don't want to discredit this seller. Honestly, though, in the emails that I have seen from the seller to my friend, he is very arrogant. I emailed him as a potential buyer, and he answered that his item is of high quality. When my friend voiced that the item is of poor quality, he says that he never promises quality. I guess in posting the link, I'm asking if he is misleading in his auction listing. I'm not much of an expert on this topic, so maybe he is completely legit. and how he is listing.

I also have to say that while I have no advice on what to do in this situation (I'll leave it up to the ebay experts here), the guy's responses and feedback he leaves for others is absolutely incredible! The name calling and other things he says blew my mind!! I realized that there were people like this out there, but my goodness....

Good luck to your friend - I hope she gets what she needs to be satisfied. :)

I also looked at this sellers auctions. It does seem to me to be very much misleading. He typed so much in the description area that it kind of makes it alittle hard to find where he says if its a print or a drawing. According to his negs. alot of buyers were under the impression that it was a drawing. He seems to be quick to respond to a neg. in a nasty way. If I were interested in his type of items, just the way he responds to them, would make me click on the back button.

He certainly does seem to take offense to negs. Guess it teaches us to look at feedback, even if we think the system is flawed.

Did you say your friend had a low amount of feedback? Low enough she won't mind dropping it? If so, I would prob neg him good, then get a new name on eBay LOL!

/
Yes, she only has a feedback of four. Can she get a new account with her same email address? I actually suggested for her to get a new account, but wasn't sure how it happens.

I think she needs a new email addy, which is easy enough on Yahoo..but she may also need a mew credit card.

Well I just got home from work - and still no package..

AND this nut case has been calling my house all day, but then hanging up when the answering machine would pick up.. (I have caller ID)..

I really think he's a wacko.. Do I go through Paypal - do I neg him (my rating is 100% and I don't know what he could say about me because I paid within seconds of the auction ending) - or do I just chalk it up to stupidity on my part for not checking his feedback????

Darn it! I really wanted that item too!!!!

Do you have cell phone minutes? I would call HIM, if so. It's a hard call, since he's trying to reach you.

I'm not so sure I WANt to talk to someone who has been screaming at me and making threats via email (I didn't post EVERYTHING he said in his emails here).. I really think he's a "loose cannon" and now I'm rather concerned that he has my phone number and address..

With my luck he'll said me a mail bomb instead of the stupid video!!!

Yikes - very scary. As long as you have caller ID, I think I would make the initial contact call to him now at your convenience so you are prepared. Then hopefully you can be done with it and he will not call you back. Otherwise, (my id only holds so many numbers), once you have spoken with him, keep a log of when he calls you again - every time. If he isn't calling from a cell, I would think having to pay a long-distance fee every time your answering machine picks up would get old. But you do want record of this in case you would need it (god forbid).

Me again :teeth:

Thanks for taking time to look at the bracelet I made cpl100.

I created two new ones tonight and listed them on ebay, starting at 1.95 on Thursday w/ BIN of 3.95. Who knows if they'll sell, but I haven't had anything listed in over a week and I need to bring in more money from ebay (it's an addiction!):hyper:

Please take a look at these two bracelets . Lemme what you think. I'm using up beads I have on hand from a project I was working on last Christmas. I spent $5 on clasps and silver wire and hope to string a few more.

Pretty bracelets. Are you sure you're making back your costs listing at such a low price?

Since I had the beads and wire and monofilament thread on hand, no additional cost there. There weren't that expensive when I bought them, not like gemstones or precious metals. The clasps were .59 (or .69?) for 6. It cost me .45 to list each with a scheduled start...and darn it I forgot to calculate the FVF. It's .10 if they sell for 1.95, .20 at 3.95. I think I'll be okay for now. {insert crossed fingers}
Thanks for your input.

I think I'll be okay for now.

I just don't see how you would make anything at those prices. Your labor, time to put them up on eBay, and the time and gas to the post office and packaging. Don't forget your self employment tax will be about .28%.

(hey, I may have a bunch of empty boxes for jewelry if you want them..we're helping someone settle an estate and they are dumping those..pm me if you are interested. I can take a pic).

Remember, if something is tooo cheap, people think it's just that cheap.

Do you think 2.95 would be a good starting point? Waht about BIN? Is 4.95 fair? If I calculated correctly I might make $2 after taxes. I was just trying to get my feet wet with these, see where it takes me. They are not fancy bracelets, more like the jewelry we (the dept store where I work) buy for kids that costs about 70 cents from a vendor.

I don't know about pricing, but those bracelets are very pretty. I think you could charge a little more for them.

I agree with Doris....take some time to get your actual costs....then come up with a start price. The bracelets look very nice and I am sure you will do well with them....maybe you could also add ankle bracelets to your sales. One thing I have noticed too on ebay is that some sellers offer bracelets and the anklets for "larger boned" womens as well, that may attract more buyers as well. Seems like a nice business...best of luck!!
