Wow - wish I had a few of those laying in the junk drawer. Geez! Seriously - I sent a very nice email explaining that I didn't want to do it and that there would be no hard feelings if he wanted to retract his bid. If he did pay on Sunday nite I would ship out in the early shipment from the PO so it should get there quickly. (They do a 2 pm run and a 5:30 run)

I need some advice about an auction that hasn't been paid for. The auction ended on 11/18 and the winning bidder (who is from Alaska) sent me an email saying she would be sending a money order. I haven't received it yet and I emailed her on 12/7 to see if she has sent the payment. No reply from her yet. I'm not sure what to do, should I file a NPB? I stated in my auction that payment is due within 10 days of the auction. Thanks for any advice! :D

I would file the NPB alert. That gives you and her at least 10 days to work things out before it becomes "official." And at least this way the process has begun so you can recover your fees if need be.

Sometime the NPB is what is needed to give that someone a kick in the pants.

WDWINJUNE, I would definitely file an NPB now. Your buyer has had plenty of time to pay, and the fact that she didn't respond to your email ("Sorry about the delay, the money order was put in the mail today," would be nice!) means she probably isn't planning to pay.

Also, the nice thing about the NPB is that it has standardized, non-threatening language, straight from Ebay, so it negates any need for the seller to send a warning email to the buyer--the NPB letter says it all! If it turns out the buyer pays between the NPB and the time you file for a FVC, just don't file for the FVC--the buyer doesn't get dinged by Ebay for NPBs, just for FVCs (3 FVCs filed, and the buyer is suspended from Ebay).

Thanks! I just filed the NPB alert. I was also looking at her recent feedback and she has 2 complaints within the last month for not paying. I don't think I'll be getting paid but at least I'll recover my fees.

Laura

OK - which of you guys is messing with my mind. I have another email tonite on my other tree-topper (a shiny brite glass one). Basically the same - wants a BIN price so they can purchase it right away.

1. Can I edit an auction to insert a BIN price once it has launched?

2. I don't feel I should do for one what I didn't do for the other, although this one has not bid so I could set a BIN price and see if they would go for it.

3. Of course, the key, I have no idea what I would sell it for!

I have never been asked this before and now twice in two days!!! I really suspect one of you on this second one!!:p :p :p

I don't think you can add BIN after the fact.. I actually looked at the topper.. it is quite nice.

I like the cute angel one you have as well.

As for a BIN price, I dont' know what to tell you. Can you look up other Shiny Brite ones as well? I would guess the age to be early 60's... my parents have some W. German ornaments from the late 60's, and the box looks a little different.

Anyway, good luck on the auctions... and I personally would let the auction ride itself out.. I've been listing 1-3 day auctions with BIN so that helps.

I'm glad I said no on last nites - he emailed me again tonite and asked which auction I said no on because he had bil on sooo many and didn't know for sure which one I responded on. :p So I may end up with him winning and not paying yet!

I will probably just compose the same response to tonites e-mail question unless one of you fesses up to it . ;) Everything is getting a lot of views. Tonite has been really a heavy increase on some of the things even since I got home. So hopefully someone will bid when it gets down to the wire.

How do I view what another person is bidding on? I know there is supposed to be a way to do it.

Sure..as long as there are no bids. Just do a revise your auction, and you can add it.

Of course you are right, I thought I read that it had bids.. what can I say, its been a LONG night....

If you click on search there is a "by bidder" tab. If you want to see everything they've bid on, even if they aren't high bidder or didn't win, make sure you check the box for "even if not high bidder" (or something like that! ;) )

Hope you end up with a bidding war on your topper! :)

OK, I need some help from you expert sellers. I sold a neon wall clcok. It has a dealer cost of $200, and it sold for $51 on ebay. Shipping was $20 (very heavy). The person emails me and tells me that the pull chain has broken off. I replied to tell him letting him know that the pull chain slips into the hole that it comes out of, and if you jiggle the clock a little bit, it will slip out. I explained that it wasn't meant to really show up a lot, so the chain is small. He replies to me that he had to spend $23 to get it fixed, and if I don't refund him $20 for shipping to help him cover the costs of getting it fixed, he is going to leave me negative feedback. he insists that it is broken. Well, it's not. Once the clock is hung on the wall, the chain will hang down through the hole and never fall "up" into the hole because of gravity. Even if a person didn't like that quality about the clock and wanted to get it fixed, it wouldn't cost $23 to get it fixed. You could simply go to Target and get one of those pull chains (like a ceiling fan has) and extend the length of the one on the clock. Most of the ones at Target have a little knob at the end.

When he says he wants $20 for shipping to help for the expenses, it leads me to believe that he just wants his shipping costs back. However, when I look back at his feedback and what he has left for others, he has all positives received and given. What would you do?

I would reply stating (again) that the chain wasn't broken--exactly what you posted here. I would be polite and sincere. Then I would grit my teeth and expect the negative (BTW, this is a good example of why it may be best to not post feedback until the buyer has posted feedback). If you have not left feedback yet, you can let him know that you have the option of leaving negative feedback for him as well, if he continues to insist on a partial refund.

I have (rarely) had people try to scam me who had perfect feedback as well. Many people do not leave negatives because they don't want a negative left in return--so your buyer could have pulled this with several sellers already.

I'm sorry to sound so cynical about the buyer's motivation. However, if you know the chain wasn't broken, I do think it's best not to refund the money just for fear of a negative. You can always respond to the negative (e.g. "Buyer threatened neg.feedback unless I gave $20.00 discount")

If I am not mistaken it is against ebay rules to threaten negative feedback. Forward a copy of the email to ebay, along with your explaination.

OK - you guys are REALLY messing with me!

First Auction - the one that wanted me to end it early and then responded that he had bid on so many which auction was I talking about when I said no - I checked his bidding (thank you for the directions). He has only bid on one other topper and it is IDENTICAL to mine. So I will lay you odds that he will cancel his bid on mine if he wins the other one. Best part ?? He has bid the other one up to $12.39. That's probably why he wanted mine - so he could cancel that higher bid after I let him buy mine!!! I really feel the other one is a 'cleaner' shape but there may be ways to improve mine - I just don't dare take any Bon Ami or anything to it when I don't know what to use. So I think I am hung either way on that one. My only hope is that the person who was unsuccessful on the one he has bid to $12.39 will up his $1.99 bid on mine. Obviously I should have started this one higher.

Second Auction - this is the one that emailed me yesterday asking for a BIN. I sent a very nice email back that I had turned one down and so I didn't feel I could do it for her(?) either.
I explained that I would ship Priority on Monday am if she paid Sunday night. So what do I have today? ANOTHER email saying, so can I buy it now from you then? from the same person. HELLO@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@. No! I sent another polite email saying they must not have received my first email. I still think this is one of you!!!
:p :p :p :p

OK - I really need this stuff to sell big - I have an $1174 dorm room bill due by 1/2 - a $413.34 deposit for next years apartment lease to be mailed tomorrow due - plus I'll probably be renting an apartment for 6 months for DH after he gets done with Correctional Officer training since he has only about a 3% chance of getting in local to start. - plus the mortgage - plus the taxes - etc. :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: I WILL NOT CANCEL THIS JULY'S TRIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I am not mistaken it is against ebay rules to threaten negative feedback. Forward a copy of the email to ebay, along with your explaination.

I think this is what you are thinking about..but if the item did somehow break in transit, I don't think he would fall under this:

"Feedback extortion - Demanding any action of a fellow user that he or she is not required to do, at the threat of leaving negative feedback ("even though it didn't reach reserve, sell it to me for my bid or..."). "

I didn't offer any advice to you, because I just don't know what I would do..I think it would depend on if I had already left feedback, and had no leverage myself..

I just booked us (hubby and I)..Jan 13-18 at the AllStar Movies..and 18-21 at Pop Century. We tried for POR for the first half, our fav, but there were no available AP or general code, and I'm too cheap to pay full price.

Anyone want to have lunch together?
