Did you add a handling charge? Maybe you inteded to add $1 for handling but instead entered $10. I am not sure how you would tell what you did or how the shipping got so wacked.

Thank you disneychrista.

I did a little more investigating, and got the user's info, including phone number. This buyer only registered on 10/15/2003 and has a Feedback Rating of 9, 3 negs in the past 7 days, 10 in the past month. How long is long enough to wait for payment?

In both cases I have been forced to pay for DC at the post office.... I don't usually figure my shipping on the high side, so that has been a chunk out of my profit. Anyone know how to override the error? . One other thing.... I ordered my Priority Mail packaging on-line, as suggested here on this thread.... I received my boxes in about 5 days. I've heard a great deal about it taking many weeks for some people. Obviously I was lucky! (And I don't live in a big metro area... I live out in the boondocks of NH!). :wave2:

Maybe someone has answered this already, but I haven't read further yet. To start with, I would go to the Zip+4 area of the usps site and attempt to confirm the delivery address yourself. It is an easy function. This will give you the opportunity to play with the address. Living in the boonies (we have a lot here in Wisconsin), and being in charge of our CIF system at work (Central Information File), I am familiar with the joys of addresses that don't work.

Things vary so much from PO to PO as to how the Postmaster submitted it to the regional office. County Road C for BRF can be County Highway C for Taylor. State Highway 95 for Hixton can be State Road 95 for Alma Center. You get the idea. Play around a little and see what you can do - you should be able to find it on the USPS site - I have the Zip + 4 bookmarked at work - not here so I can't do a direct link.

PS - 6 auctions relisted Sunday nite - up to 50 views finally. At least I am getting more looks than last week. But NO bids. ACK!!! I'm starting to think I should pull out that old Hallmark Rocking Horse ornament (it is the 2nd one - one of the higher value ones). dummy me threw the boxes for the other old ornaments about 10 years ago - but kept the horses in their boxes.

and the Feedback Summary now states Not a Registered User.

The good news is..when you file the npb form, you'll immediately be taken to the form that gives you back your final fees.

The bad news is, you can't leave neg feedback until he's reinstated..but if you do..watch out..once he's reinstated, he can also leave it for you.

jgates,

It seems normal right now for there to be few or no bids up until just before the auction closes. I had an electronic game of my son's closing tonight. At dinner time there wasn't a single bid (7 day auction) though many had looked. I just came down to check the two items I had closing tonight and both had been bid up significantly within the last few minutes.

Hopefully you will fare well also!

jgates don't pull that item. I had a toy that the first time I listed it absolutely no bids. I relisted and everytime I checked there were no bids. Last night it ended at 40.00 and the bids started to come in in the very last minutes. Before that I was going to end it early, because every time I went to check on it I would get discouraged. Then the bidding war started withing the last 10 minutes of auctiion end. So keep it on auction and just relist if you have to. If its a x-mas ornament people will be putting up there tree in the next week or so, and thats when they'll realize that they need extra ornaments for it.

I am trying to get some Disney pins listed on E-bay. It seems most of the pictures there came from somewhere else. I tried to use my digital camera but none of them came out better than the ones shown on e-bay.

I tried to use the picture on

pinpics.com

However, the extension does not seem right, it is not a "ipg" but a "bmt" or something like that.

How do you post your pin picture on E-Bay?

Thanks

I have! I would consider it media.. computer media. I have never had a problem.

I use jpg files rather than bmp for pictures. They are more universally accepted across the net IMO. You can use a photo editing program to change from one to the other if you have one on your computer.

I think that you have been more than fair in your efforts. I would strongly suggest filing the NPB now. When I file it depends on the situation. If the auction has ended and I have not heard anything from the buyer despite reminders I usually file in 10 days, if I've had some contact with the buyer I might wait about 14 days. If you have done more than enough on your end. File your NPB and than either second-chance it or re-list it.

Okay - seems my "students" are outsmarting me here :) - so I have a question for you..

I have some things that I am going to be listing that I must set a "reserve" on and I'm a little confused about the fees if the items don't sell..

So...let's say I list the item with a starting bid of $9.99 and a reserve of let's say $60.. If the item doesn't sell, what fees will I have to pay?

--------------------

Also, are any of you going to have auctions that END on Thanksgiving evening? Some on the ebay boards say it's a good time 'cause the men folk are watching football so the women will be "shopping".. What do you think?

--------------------

Thanks all !!! :)

So...let's say I list the item with a starting bid of $9.99 and a reserve of let's say $60.. If the item doesn't sell, what fees will I have to pay?

Unlike Buy it Now..the reserve price is what you have to pay the fee on..since that is the minimum you will accept. The listing fee for $60 is $2.20. The reserve fee (if item doesn't sell), is an additional $1.00, for a total of $3.20. If it doesn't sell and you relist and then it sells, you don't get back the first reserve cost. If it sells, then there is no charge for the reserve.

Stuff of interest:

When you list a Reserve Price Auction, you will also be charged a Reserve Price Auction Fee, which is based upon the reserve price. Reserve Price Auction Fees are fully refundable. At the end of the auction, if your item sells, the Reserve Price Auction Fee is refunded to your account. This also applies to Real Estate.

$0.01 - $24.99 $0.50
$25.00 - $99.99 $1.00
$100.00 and up 1% of reserve price (maximum fee of $100.00)

Fees (just the listing fees)

$0.01 - $9.99 $0.30
$10.00 - $24.99 $0.55
$25.00 - $49.99 $1.10
$50.00 - 199.99 $2.20
$200.00 and up $3.30

I had some great sales last turkey day, so yes, I will have stuff ending. Some people don't have family, but will have the day off..and people are really in the shopping mood.

I was about to reply on the Reserve Price question, too... just in case anyone wants to read more about pricing in general, here is a link to the eBay fee structure:

That's an interesting idea, C.Ann - thanks for sharing it. Hmmm.

I was actually planning to start a ton of auctions on Tuesday, for 5 days so they'll end Sunday, and use BIN pricing that is not quite as far above the opening bid as I might usually go with. This way anybody unable to get out shopping on Black Friday and the weekend can still shop eBay, and I'll get the normal Sunday night ending exposure, too.

Not sure if that is a great strategy, but I'm taking an exam Monday, so there is no way I can put any effort into listing before then! In fact, I shouldn't be on the boards, I should be studying!

See ya!

Do any of your friends/family know your ebay user id and check on your auctions? A while back my MIL asked for my id, and not knowing what else to say, I told her. Though, somehow I felt a bit uncomfortable about it, I wasn't sure why.

Now, she asked DH last week how my sales have been going... she then asked if I've been selling many books. (I do have some listed on half.com, I'm assuming she checked it out.) Again, it kind of bothered me, but I'm not sure why. (Maybe just because it's her...LOL)

Now for my question...last night I was putting some of the kids' old VHS movies up on half.com when DH came over to check out what I was doing. He mentioned that maybe I shouldn't list some of them because his mother gave them to the boys and she would see that I was selling them. He's leaving it up to me to decide, but he thinks I shouldn't list them. I think, on the other hand, that if she wants to keep tabs on what I'm doing, then let her see them.

Realizing I may not be seeing the situation objectively ( ), what are everyone else's opinions?

RE: auctions ending on Thanksgiving. This is just my thinking - but people are more likely to be at home or with family where they have access to a computer that evening than over the weekend when a lot of people are traveling. I'd take time out from the family festivities to bid on something great that day!

Now for a question:

I agreed to accept a payment from Germany (even though I have ship to US only checked)
I know I will be charged a 1% fee for accepting a payment from another country through paypal - but I can't find where it says if I even CAN accept it with just a personal account or if I will have to upgrade to a premier acct. Does anyone know?

WELL.... my opinion is... how long ago did she give them to the kids? If it was 2+ years ago, then the obvious answer is that they have outgrown them... no problem there. Less than that time, I guess you have to be prepared to say..." loved it at first, but they just don't watch it any more". I wouldn't feel too bad about it. It's not like she gave them precious keepsakes (like great-grampa's pocketwatch) that you are trying to make a buck on. Kid's interest in videos and toys come and go... that's all!! Hope this helps! :smooth: :Pinkbounc :bounce: (sorry for all the smilies! I let my son pick them for me!)

I have to ship a package to Denmark via Global Priority Mail-Large envelope. Does anyone know if there are international priority mail envelopes like there are for US priority mail. I currently have the item in a bubble mailer, but will change if I need to.

There are boxes/envelopes for global priority mail. At least at my post office there were.... I hope you charged enough for shipping. I lost $7 shipping an item overseas because I totally miscalculated...
Good luck!
