You HAVE to try this!! EBAY your way to DISNEY!!

Tamie, you have 45 days after the end of the auction to file the Non-Paying Bidder alert, and 60 days after the end of the auction to file for your Final Value Fee credit. Here's the Ebay link that gives these timetables:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/npb.html

Personally, if a person is answering my emails, I give them 30 days to pay me before I file an NPB. If they are not answering my emails or are jerking me around in some way (like your lady who tried to pay in unacceptable ways, then stopped answering your emails), I file the NPB in 10 days to 2 weeks rather than 30 days.

I do not like to get into unpleasant email exchanges with people, so I never warn them in any way that "Pay now or I'm going to file an NPB." I send a couple of pleasant email reminders to pay, then I just go ahead and file the NPB. That's usually enough of a shocker that they pay.

You should always, always, always file your NPBs and FVFs, even if the monetary amount for the auction is low. The reason for this is because deadbeat bidders will get kicked off of Ebay once they have accumulated THREE FVCs filed against them. Many sellers do not bother to file and consequently, you see bidders with 6 or 7 negatives for not paying who are still on Ebay and bidding away to their heart's content!

please learn from my mistake.

Before I post, let me tell you that I have learnt this lesson the hard way and it has made be a tougher person from now on in all my auctions.

This lady won my auction by using by it now. She paid thru pending E check and I waited and waited and waited but no money for over 1 1/2 week and it still showed pending so I "assumed" paypal was slow and emailed the lady stating that i will send her the item since Paypal was so slow.

I did and since I had several other auctions that I as working on, I forgot about this one until few weeks later I checked paypal and showed the transaction was cancelled. I was shocked, I thought Paypal would at least email me to let me know but they didnt. I called them to find out why it was cancelled and they said that they tried to take it out of her account twice and they will not try anymore.(they should have atleast let me know thru email)

So I emailed the lady a not so nice letter stating I hope her kids are enjoying the toy that has not been payed for and what goes around comes around.(I was quite mad because even she didnt email me).

Anyways, she sent me an email that she still wants to pay for it and when I email her back, her email is coming back undelivarable so I gave up. Filed for fees and got them back. In all I lost $13.00 but it was my mistake so I accepted my mistake.

I will never again trust a buyer on goodwill alone. Customer Service is gonna be just that. Service the customer after they have paid.

Thanks for letting me vent for my mistake :(

For single items I hang for a "Lot of" I fold and lay on my kitchen table, making sure to show any detail (logos etc).

Mrs. Snowgod - Welcome Back!! How was your trip?

Hi, Mommy Poppins

Thanks for the Welcome Back, but I haven't gone yet! :teeth:

We leave very soon, and will be back on 10/26. That's all good, since I still have the trip ahead of me to enjoy!

I sell alot of clothes. Baby clothes after I wash & iron them, I lay them down, first picture is the whole lot folded. Then I seperate them into flat pieces, as many that will fit into the picture and take pictures of them that way. Coats, jackets, vests or any single pieces or sets of 2, I hang. If I'm selling kids clothes and one of the items has faded knees, I hang that one up and take a picture of that one alone to show the faded knees. Thank god for digital cameras, because with all these pictures if I had to buy camera half of my profits would go on film. I just sold a lot of 27 infant clothes and used up all the six boxes ebay allows for pictures. I see alot of other auctions that have alot more pictures than 6. Does anyone know how to do that. I think I would need an image host, but I'm clueless on how they work and to tell you the truth I don't want to spend the extra $$ on using them. I read that there are several free ones, but again I'm clueless. Anyway, I hope my details of how I take my clothes pictures help..

Denise

Thanks for your tips Denise, on how you photgraph baby clothes. I've been meaning to organize the bags of clothes I have and get them listed. Looks like it will be my weekend project.

Oh, I think that I may have just made a mistake that has topped all of the mistakes!!! I have been listing a lot of my stuff under ebay motors. I'm selling stuff snow mobiling stuff, clothing, and gift items that are snowmobiling related. That is just the best category they fit into. I've been using Turbolister. I work at night, so my husband uploads my auctions in the evening. Last night he uploaded a bunch of items for me. Today I'm going through and putting them in my spreadsheet. Well, I listed a miniature four wheeler. I accidentally listed it under an auctual 4-wheeler instead of merchandise. I guess I didn't realize the fees were different. The first time I used ebay motors, I figured my costs before listing, and it is the same. Well, not if I'm listing an actual 4-wheeler!! For an item that will probably sell for 5-6 dollars, I have an insertion fee of $40!!!! I'm going to contact them to see if they can remove it, but if not, there goes my profit

Ok. I finally did it. I email both the non-payers and this is what I said to them. I hope it sounded ok. Let me know.

"Hi. Just wanted to let you know that I have not received payment yet for the ***** auction that ended on September 25. Payment may in the mail, if so please disregard. Otherwise, I need to received the payment of $**** plus insurance, if desired, of $1.30, prior to October 24, 2003. Otherwise, I will have to take the appropriate steps to recoup my costs and relist this item in the auction. Remember, I only accept money orders, cashier checks and bank transfers through Paypal.

Please contact me as soon as possible with payment arrangements.

Thank you,

Tamie"

What do you thing?

You aren't alone in that error..I did that once too : )

Cancel the auction, and request your fees back. You'll get them...but the auction has to be closed.

Yes they will have to hosted off of ebay and linked with HTML.

Does anyone know where to check emails at WDW? Or specifically Paypal accts? I had someone pay late tonight with a echeck and it takes 4 business days to clear and we leave next Wed afternoon for WDW. If I could find out that it cleared then I could have FIL mail the package for me.
Thanks for the Help.

Does it ever seem to you that it takes forever to accomplish something that should be very simple? But with any luck, I will begin listing on eBay tomorrow!

Just getting organized to be able to sell on eBay has taken five weeks! Granted, I've worked the typical EOM 60-hour weeks and two weeks the majority of free time was devoted to completing my music room (I'm still excited that my piano has a home and no longer lives in the dining room!), so there hasn't been a great deal of time to do much of anything else. Fortunately, the weather cooled off into the 90s last week (we're back into the 100-degree range again this week), so it was feasible to go out during lunch to open an additional checking account.

The preparation has been a good experience, though. I've sorted through some of my parents things that I haven't been able to do previously (too many memories!) and retained a few things for a memory shadow box for each of them, as well as one of my father's sport coats! Haven't a clue what I'm going to do with it, but some of my earliest memories are of him wearing it! A great deal of the clothing was donated to a veterans organization, but there are some NWT items that I'm going to list, as well as some vintage clothing and collectibles and other items.

I finally installed AOL 8.0 tonight (thanks to everyone who suggested it!), weighed all of my packages at the office today and am ready to begin tackling eBay tomorrow. However, it has been a very long day and this body is ready to crash and burn!

Wish me luck tomorrow!

Good night!

Hi Janelle,

We'll be there at the same time! How cool!

There are Computer stations in the parks and also at some of the resorts (if not all). You use a credit card for access, and there is a minimum charge for the first few minutes, then you pay by the minute after the initial charge. I don't recall the exact charge, but it isn't cheap - I want to say something in the neighborhood of $3 to $5 for the first few minutes.

Could your FIL check your account for you? That would save you the need to pay for online time.

I know there was a computer station as described above at the Poly, and I believe I used one at MGM near the Muppets 3D attraction. I wonder if you could get more info on the resorts board - I know I was much less comfortable looking at my online info in the middle of MGM than I was in the alcove at the Poly - that one was in the GCH, first floor by telephones and the rest rooms.

Good luck with this, and have a great trip! I know we will :) !!

Thanks Mrs. Snowgod! I should only have to check on one day so I won't be out too much money. I'd ask my FIL however he refuses to touch a computer:eek:. I had 4 auctions end this last wed and up until then everyone has paid by Paypal:tongue: wouldn't you know all 4 of them are paying with MO, checks:crazy: . I have one MO coming from HI:earseek: and we leave on wed afternoon. I hope they all come so I can mail everything but the way things are going I won't count on it::yes:: .
Thanks for the help and have a great trip too. We will be staying at the BWV so I know that we will have a good trip;) being so close to the F & W:teeth: :p .

nelle, perhaps you could send each of your buyers an email stating that you'll be out of town when you expect to receive their payment and that a delay in shipment may be a possibility. Your buyers may be understanding and be okay with waiting a few days.

We aren't leaving for another week and a half. However starting today actually, I have started letting my winning bidders who have decided to pay MO or check that payment must be received (and checks cleared by ) 10/28 to ship prior to my leaving. So far they all seem okay with this. They have 8 days from MOnday to have it in my hands. So, hopefully this will go well.

(insert thumbs-up icon)

I downloaded Turbo-Lister, played with it and have 9 items ready to post Sunday. I don't feel as much pressure when listing with TL. It's great to be able to copy and paste certain info, above what can be saved and repeated for each listing. What a breeze. Back to work, have a few more auctions to ready before bed.
