Are these things that you have written in your auction or is in general and applicable to everyone on eBay? I don't have anything like that written on my auction. Should I? I haven't been paid or even contacted about an auction that ended July 31. The person did fill out the checkout on the 31st saying they were sending a check, but no check as of yet.
Yes, here is what I say... in the ebay Seller's Instructions Field:
Seller's payment instructions:
Winning Bidder should please reply to my messages within 3 days of the closing bid. If you choose to send a Money Order, please email and alert me to that fact, within 3 days of the closing bid. PayPal Payments preferred... Credit cards accepted. If you pay within 3 days via PayPal, I will receive immediate notification from PayPal, no need to email. Shipping is completed within 24 to 48 hours of receipt of payment, and I will notify you of the timeframe when I acknowledge your payment.
And then in the text of my item description:
Credit Card payments via PayPal Only, or Money Orders/certified funds accepted by mail. No Personal Checks, Please! Communication with winning bidder is expected within 3 days of close of auction. Payment must be received within 7 days of close of auction, unless other arrangements have been made in advance.
I got a little repetitive on the communication thing because I was having people send MOs and not let me know they were coming. I am slightly lenient on the "payment within 7 days" if I have been contacted and told the MO is on the way. But if I don't hear from the bidder in 3, I use the payment reminder, and if no reply in 7 days, I follow the process originally described.
This is not an ebay policy, just what I choose to use. Some sellers say payment within 10 days, others want it within 3 or 5 days - I'm noticing more sellers accepting PayPal ONLY within 3 days... boy I wish! While it is up to you to choose your TOS, it really is wise to post these things in your auction in order to avoid any confusion or assumptions.
Good luck!
