On Tuesday, I picked up my 15 year old son from school, and as we were driving home, he tells me, "if there is anyway we can go, I would love to go to DL this weekend." To do this means he has to miss his last winterball game, and when I pointed that out to him, he never hesitated in saying he would rather be at DL.

So, while I am probably nuts to be going on a holiday weekend, I will now be heading down for a couple of days, just me, him and the puppy.

I just moved here a couple of years ago, I was up in Morgan Hill before that for 12 years.

I think he lived there from the time he was about 5 maybe till 26 off and on. He was in the Navy and Coast Guard so he left Gilroy permanently around 1994. Is the name Master Mason because you are in the Masons are you the Master Mason meaning your last name is Mason and you are the Father (Master) of the family? That sounded weird the way I just said that but I don't mean it that way.
Anyway, my DH was a Mason or I guess is so when I saw you were in Gilroy and Mason, just figured maybe you 2 would have known each other.

Have fun, my ds refuses to go back to DL (too many people for his liking ). Just wanted to comment we were in the Bay area last month and made a side trip to Gilroy, we loved it very pretty area.

Last year on my way home from DL ON Thanksgiving day, some dork cut me off and distroyed my van right off the 152.

No. I was making a left turn into a driveway and he passed me on the left AS I was making a left. I slowed down so much to make the turn, that my van got the brunt of it. He FLEW across the highway and would have rolled but a poweline stopped him. His family did have injuries but we were fine. It was totally his fault and I got a new van out of it. Everyone comes flying off the Pacheco Pass SOO fast that when I slowed down to make my turn he got irritated and tried to pass me instead of just waiting 10 SECONDS for me to make my turn.

My son (15) said the same thing to me!
Lucky for him we'll be going the first weekend in December. He LOVES Disneyland as much as I do. I'm thrilled that he's still willing to hang out with me! He's taking it a bit further though....his Grandma lives 20 mins from Disneyland and he's got an eye on a job there next summer.

But you've got to take advantage of those Disney moments, especially with teens, when they present themselves!

BTW, the last time we took a quick weekend trip to DL my DS opted to stay with coach so he wouldn't miss any games. Sheesh!

How cool. I'm doing a last minute trip this weekend with my son too. But he didn't want to give up flag football, so we're leaving after his game on Sat morning. He doesn't know its to DL, all he knows is I planned a surprise trip for him.

So we'll be right there with you in the middle of the madness. To me any day at DL is better than not being at DL.

Have fun!!! That's the important part!! I was there the last 2 weekends.....drove down....the drive gets tiring/boring but it's worth it to be at DL for a few days! LOL Enjoy yourselves!!

Kudos to you for being a great dad! It's an unfortunate thing but lots of dads would not have taken the time out of their hectic schedules. On the other side, sounds like you have a great son too. Lots of teens would rather be doing ANYTHING else besides spending time with their family. Hope you both have a fantastic time!

Wish we lived close enough to take our kids when they said they wished we could go to DL. I would be there almost everyday! Instead, I will just have to settle for once a year.

Hey bumbershoot -- I think dad is refering to winter or fall baseball. Here in Tulsa, OK we call it Fallball. I'm pretty sure that's what he meant.

yes that is exactly it, it is the non season baseball that we play great for learning and development, no presure, just about skills
