You have GOT to be kidding me!! The Live Version

I am sooo glad I found your pre trip report before reading the trip reports! I can't wait to read about how it went. I had to laugh about your changes - wish you would have gotten more feedback on your questions but maybe all the regulars were in Disney!

I hope your trip is going fantastic! We will be in Disney in September.

(oh, and I can't get photos to post either and I've tried all the instructions from everyone).

ToT = AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!:scared1:

And I'll give ya that no meal is worth, in dollars, $125 a plate. The thing is, she only turns 16 once, she's out of my home in 2 years and she REALLY wanted it. Since we are blessed enough to have the money to afford it it was definitely a good value despite the cost. I can certainly appreciate your point of view though. :)

So, we left off at food. :) An eating tradition in our family is tea at the Garden View Lounge. We get the Buckingham Palace and have a lovely time. We do not generally 'dress' for this but just go in park attire. It is so relaxing! This time there was a baby shower in the lobby area and a wedding going on as well. We got to see the entire wedding party while they were having their pictures taken. Gorgeous!!!

Left the GF and headed back to DHS. We rode Star Tours and Muppets and were on our way to RnRC when we came upon some street perfomers. They were SO funny. One guy laughed so hard he spit ice cream all over his grandma!!! :) When they were done we started off again but TP1 realized she had left her phone in Muppets. Thankfully I remembered what row and about where we had been sitting, but we had to wait until the show ended to get in. Tony, bless his heart, kept us entertained so Megan didn't freak out too badly. In we went and BF1 found it right away.

Now, I know it seems too close together, but we had ADR at 50's Prime Time Cafe for 8pm. We finished tea around 4:20 so no one was 'big meal' hungry but we were anticipating the fun at this place so much that we went anyway. I have never had that much fun at a restaurant. And I don't cook so I go to a LOT of them. :) Byron (Dusty) had us in stitches. I ordered a cosmopolitan and told him to hurry while I looked at the girls and rolled my eyes. He came back 10mins later, told me to come with him and made me stand in front of the bartender while he explained the teenagers. Everyone at the bar thought I needed my cosmo too and out it came! :)

Then the insanity ensued. He gave the girls trouble about everything and they gave it right back. A little later he told us that as soon as we showed up he started dropping stuff, mixing up checks, all sorts of things and blamed it all on us!! :) What a hoot. He was very professional in the midst of the fun and seemed to enjoy himself too. We all agreed the food was SERIOUSLY no worth the price but the atmosphere was. But now I understand why some people do not like the place. Overpriced, blah food plus and unenthusiatic server would bum me out too. Next time we'll go for drinks and dessert to ensure a good time.

We decided to wander our way through some shops, bought some stuff and were going to leave when we noticed the mad crush. So we found a curb, parked and people watched. The girls had as much fun as I did!! When we finally left we were 4 of 12 people at our bus stop and everyone was in a good mood. Much nicer than the rush to get out and save 15 minutes while being grouchy. :confused3

At this point we are literally passing out each night. Even though it seems like we eat all day everyone is having a bunch of fun and the 13th involves way less food. So far. (I'm typing this at 3 on the 13th)

I have to disagree with you HSMINNIE I thought the food at 50's PT was excellant.:sulley:

SugarMomma, my truly best friend who was supposed to be on this trip but decided to WORK, can you believe it? :confused3 .......has informed me that all we are doing is eating. Well, Saturday was the absolute worst!!! Check this out:

We were up at 8 and headed to the Contemporary for our Chef Mickey's ADR at 9:50am. (This resort is growing on me. I definitely want to stay here now.) While we were there the girls saw a couple who were seated behind me at V&A's the night before. He smiled and waved which was sweet.

Hmmm, Chef Mickey's. Food was standard buffet fare, place was LOUD and they certainly hook you with that picture, but of course the characters make it all good. What really made our experience was that they put us in a corner away from the main dining are which was relatively quiet. Whew. Don did a great job and BFF2 made his day when she asked him to sign her autograph book!!!

The characters were hysterical!:) There was a little boy next to us and his mom was getting her food. (He was maybe 9 or 10) Goofy sat down in her chair, grabbed a cup and proceeded to fix himself a coffee! Then Mickey came by and shooed him off and sat down himself!!! Then DON came by and fussed at both of them while they tried to blame it on each other!!!:rotfl2: Too cute!!! We got their autographs and off they went.

BFF2 was the only one with her autograph book yesterday which was fine until Donald came by. Apparently she hates birds! :) He didn't care and signed it anyway AND made her take a pic!! :) We then saw Minnie and Pluto and finished our meal.

Next stop - DHS and Tower of TERRORRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1:

I think I have lost all adventurousness (?). ToT totally freaked me out and I kept my eyes closed the whole time. The girls loved it though. We waited about 20 mins. Is till cannot believe these crowds. Who knew July was the time to come? (I'll probably pay for those words today) We headed back toward the hat and ran into the High School Musical 2 show. Like I needed to hear any of those songs AGAIN!!!!!! :rolleyes1 It was cute, and we went back to the room to dress for tea.

I'll get the rest of the day later.......Sorry I'm lagging behind :)

I cant believe your rode the TOT and I wasnt there to witness it. I cant wait for you to meet the YETTI tell him I said hello. :dance3:

Here it is: Victoria and Albert's

WARNING!!!! If you plan to go to V&A’s and want a total surprise then STOP!!! I am going to attempt to describe in detail the evening we had and do not want to ruin your time.

That said, anything I write here will pale in comparison to the real deal.

Let me preface by admitting I am a country girl. There may be a restaurant like this in Columbus, OH but I haven’t been there. I like Texas Roadhouse and we hit Bonefish Grill for a fancy night out. All of which means I was ready to be dazzled. Mission accomplished. Same for the girls. Wicked WOW factor.

Our ADR was for 6pm so I wanted to leave no later than 5pm. The girls insisted on 3 hours to get ready (they did take 2!!) so we ran our errand to DTD and got back about 2:15. You should have been here, it was hysterical!!

100_0125.jpg

We knew it would rain. It’s Florida. It’s summer. No big, right. ‘It’s over now. We don’t need the ponchos.’ Me being an idiot again. We went into the lobby to take pics and were out at the bust stop, damp, but 5:05pm. We waited a while but the bus came and it was all good. Until we got to the MK and had to get to the monorail. In the rain. In our fabulousness. So off we went. We all got wet and some straightened hair poofed but the girls were troopers. They all looked and behaved handsomely.

100_0127.jpg

We stopped to take some pics and then headed to check-in. Christopher greeted us and recited our names which was fun to hear in such a formal manner. We were led to our table immediately and of course each sat into place and napkins were placed on our laps. The girls loved this, especially because every time someone left the table there was a fresh napkin and a chair assistant on their return! 

John was our headwaiter and Sal the assistant. 37 years at V&A’s between them. 37!!!! They were wonderful! Truthfully, I can’t find adjectives appropriate to the occasion.

Sal offered still or sparkling water, checked to see if I wanted a cocktail or wine pairings, removed the girls’ wine and champagne glasses and then brought my champagne. I thought it was sort of an ‘opening course’ by itself and drank it all with the bread.  which was great until John had to add a bit more for me to enjoy with the amuse bouche!! THAT wasn’t embarrassing!! 

A word about wine pairings. I was given at least half a glass of wine with each course plus a glass and a half of champagne plus a full glass of port. I’m no teetotaler but that was a LOT of wine! I finished quite a bit in the beginning but had exactly 2 sips of the port. Yum, but wow.

John came by to introduce himself and Sal, pass out the menus and wish Megan ‘Happy Birthday’. They were so excited to see their names printed on the menus and Megan’s said ‘Happy 16th Birthday’. John let us know Sal was coming with bread, we should look over the menu and he would explain in more detail in a minute, and welcome to the amazing fabulousness terrificness. (My words).

Sal came with bread. WOW. It was yummy. I forget what there was besides baquettes. Sal had a thick accent and spoke so quietly…..it was hit or miss. The butter was like a 4” round, ½” high pat in a silver domed dish all soft and yummy. Good start!! 

John came by and explained things which was good because we had no clue. Oh, I know what veal is, but I couldn’t even pronounce most of the rest of it. I’m no rube, just not used to such dining. He let us know the chef prefers to collect the entire evening’s order at one time so we set to thinking about our orders. Some of the girls were intimidated at first but I told them the only rules were no screaming and no throwing food at anyone  The eventually relaxed and seemed to enjoy themselves.

I'm really running on fumes at this point and want to get caught up, so I am gyping you all and giving you the short version until my final trip report thoughts.

It really was amazing but by the end of the meal we were ready to go. We were there for almost exactly 3 hours.

We came back, changed and went to MK. the girls went on BTMRR twice in about 30 mins then we went to Fantasyland. Got FP for Peter Pan, walked into Philharmagic and Snow White (dumb ride) rode Pooh with very little wait, back to Peter Pan with FP. That was all we had left in us! :) Headed back to the room to pass out and get up this morning.

Holy cow...sounds like you were on a cruise:rolleyes1 I am glad M had a good time. But I have to say I cant believe you said that Snow White was dumb you have totally lost touch with your inner mouse. I think we need to go on a trip together so that I can help you recapture:upsidedow

Brave woman to take 3 female teens. Sounds like a lot of fun tho. Can't wait for more.

Ok, I've failed you all. I lost all my steam. We're in the airport right now waiting for our flight home. But I WILL update pics and finish the report before the weekend.

SORRY!!!!!!!

Ok, maybe you all knew this, but just in case you didn't let me tell you. You cannot purchase tickets that are non hoppers and use more than one in a day. :confused3 That sounded confusing, so here's what I mean:

I bought, from Undercovertourist.com, 4 day basic tickets. They had a promo and I got 3 days free. In my mind, I had the equivalent of 7 1-day tickets in my hand for each girls. So, we could go to the MK and then later that day go to Epcot and use another ticket. So, I wasn't trying to parkhop on 1 ticket, I was using 2 days worth of tickets for one day of fun. Does this make sense? It seems more expensive but it was actually saving about $135. However, you can't do that. Disney does not see a stack of 7 1-day tickets. They see 1 ticket which can either hop or not. No problem, paid the $ at guest relations to make them hoppers but I just wanted to make anyone else aware.

Fun time. :) Crystal Palace. AHHHH. This is our 'coming home' place. It's been a family tradition since we've been coming to WDW and TP1 wanted her friends to share the good times. They even did the parade!!! :)

100_0183.jpg

100_0179.jpg

They brought TP1 a cupcake and BF2 ate it. AGAIN!! :) It became a theme :)

We went over to Tomorrowland when we were finished and rode Buzz, TTA and saw the Laugh Floor Show. I was interviewed as a 'contestant' and SugarMomma will know that it almost killed me!! (I am NOT an outgoing kind of person) Also, "That Guy" sat right in front of us! :)

We had some time between Laugh Floor and the girls' Space Mountain FP so TP1 made us go into Stitch. I protested weakly but should have insisted. We hated this ride last year and it didn't get any better. When we got off all 4 of us agreed it is the worst ride any of us have ever ridden anywhere. Ever. PLEASE let them change it!!!!

The girls headed off to Space Mtn and I grabbed a soda and went to Toontown Fair. These 'alone' times were quite a stretch for me. I always knew the idea of being without anyone at WDW (or anywhere) was terrifying but it was even more difficult than I thought. I found a bench and watched the people go by. The girls were longer than I thought but they eventually came and I survivied. They rode Goofy's Barnstormer and then we went to see the princesses. Well, we were gonna go see them. The line was an hour long. I don't THINK so!! So I meade them leave - long faces and all - and we got on the train for the ride back to Main Street. The crazy guy at the station kept asking people for tickets. :)

We went back to the WL and crashed. This is when I wrote yesterday's installment. And it was about the time my steam vanished! :)

Epcot. I have a love/hate relationship with this park. It has some of the coolest/most interesting 'stuff' available in all of WDW but OMG!!!!!! They make you work for it. It is BIG! :) Ok, enough whining. SugarMomma will yell at me. ;)

We decided to fit as much in as possible but were thwarted by lines and our own erratic touring plans. We all walked onto Ellen, which I love. I went and got a magarita while the girls rode claustrophobia...I mean Mission Space. They met me next to Mouse Gears and I wondered if they wanted to try the Princess Dinner at Akershus since I made them leave the line for autographs in MK earlier. Crowds were so low I figured it was worth a shot. And we got in!!!!! :cool1: So we all went to see HISTA then high tailed it over to Norway.

100_0194.jpg

BF2 is a crazy Belle fan. Guess who was standing inside the entry to greet us?? BF2 was SO excited!!!!

100_0195.jpg

Actually, they all were. We saw Belle, BF1's favorite Sleeping Beauty, TP's fav Ariel, DH's fav Jasmine and everyone's fav Cinderella.

100_0203.jpg

We had good food and great service and the girls really enjoyed it. Plus now I have no guilt about dragging them out of the MK earlier in the day :).

We left dinner just as Illuminations was ending but were enough ahead of the crowd to be out of the crush. Headed over to MK and played there for a bit. The girls discovered a cute guy on HM and rode 3 times in a row!!! I opted out after the first round :) They were funny. We rode Pooh and then sat on the veranda at the Crystal Palace to watch Wishes. We waited for the crowds to abate a little (lots of folks were staying) then headed back.

Tomorrow we head to AK

Our last full day. We were all very aware of the fact and tried not to let it affect us.

AK was HOT. HOTHOTHOTHOTHOT. We were whiny all day about it after being spoiled with great weather the rest of the time. Plus it doesn't help that AK is the 'hottest' park in WDW anyway. :scared1:

We had ADR at Rainfirest Cafe for breakfast. The place was almost totally empty which was nice. I had some bad hollandaise sauce which never was fixed but the server and manager were gracious and of course I didn't pay for it. Great service and the girls liked their food. I highly recommend this time of day because the place is quiet, the ambiance is still there and the food is MUCH less expensive than lunch or dinner. :)

Into the sauna. :) We walked on to ITTBAB and had the newbies convinced it was a virtual reality game in which you stomped ants then got shrank (shrunk?) and had to run away from ants. They liked the real thing though. :) As I had absolutely no sense of adventure this trip the girls rode Dinosaur without me. We went to FP EE then got in line for Nemo. We were literally about 200ft from the end of the line!! :) It was crazy. The girls were sure we would never get in, but we did. When we were here last year none of us liked the gal playing Nemo but thankfully there is someone knew. We also agreed that while the tenor playing Crush is an amazing performer with an amazing voice (this guy is GOOD) we wish they had a bass in the part. We all loved the show.

The girls wanted to ride Dinosaur again and then they had their FP for EE. I was hungry and decided to eat now rather than 'around the world' when we got to Epcot. Well, what I decided was that if I could find a snack and a seat between Dinsosaur and EE I would munch and wait. I had never been to Yak and Yeti and did not realize it was so close to EE. I checked in at the podium, lump in throat, and found it was about 5 min wait for 1. This is a big step guys. Me, in a sit down, as a party of 1. I think the worst part was when the hostess called my name and announced my party size. I got some looks.

I was seated at a table for 2 right in between 2 8 tops. THAT felt weird. Had an Emporer Margarita and perused the menu. I was trying to take my time because I knew the wait for Dinosaur was long. I also had my phone on the table (usually a big no-no) and was texting SugarMomma and DH. Additionally, I had a book on the creation and origins of Epcot for reading. Probably overkill but I felt self-conscious people watching in such close quarters.

Jackie was an excellent server. She helped me decide on my food choices and seconded my choice of beverage. She also made sure my table had as much attention as the ones she waited on with more people. This is unusual. I meant a smaller bill and a smaller tip in practical terms and she did not seem to care.

I ordered the Duck with Anandapur Glaze and Fried Wontons for dessert. The service from the kitchen was well timed. The duck was delicious. About the time it came I got a page from TP1 that they needed their FPs. This was way sooner than expected but I went to the door and passed them out. I had ordered a second margarita with the duck and was hoping they would take enough time for me to finish it, dinner and dessert. There was no way I was going to ask Jackie to squish 3 more people into a table for 2!

No such luck. The girls pretty much walked on EE. I asked Jackie to box up my dessert and bring me the bill. When she found out why she insisted they come in, asked if they wanted some water or another beverage and told them to relax and enjoy. Again, none of this was going to add to her tip so the service was sincere. We sat a bit, they ate my dessert :) and it was time to go. Of course, I tipped her 30% because she was so amazing. I haven't had service with that kind of dedication in a long while.

We trudged out of AK (did I mention it was HOT?) and headed to WL for our afternoon respite. Of course, this necessitated 'getting ready' again. We, THEY, did a lot of 'getting ready'!!!

Finally we headed for Epcot. We looked at the board for Soarin' but FP was gone and the wait was 90min. We were wait wusses this trip so that was too long. Off to eat around the world. (No, I did NOT eat :) )

Mexico : Bad Strawberry Margarita, good nachos
China : Decent Sesame Chicken, get some chopsticks for my TP2, play with goofy toys

100_0216.jpg

100_0217.jpg

Japan : Sushi set for my TP2
Morrocco : Wait 25 mins in the HEAT to see Alladin :)

100_0219.jpg

France : Pastries for the girls (and apparently some cute French guys :) ) and a Grey Goose slush. It was good. Not great, but yummy.

England : I had to try the fish and chips. They were good, but nothing extraordinary. I would definitely have them again.

We were all pretty worn out and decided to head back to the pool. The heat had gotten to everyone and we were all grumpy. By the time we got back I was really hungry so the girls went to the pool and I went to RF for a cheeseburger. The girls came in with their own food later and passed out.

Tomorrow we go home :sad1:

Hey, Hey!!!

The girls look like they are having so much fun. It's good you made up for the princess thing.

While you were people watching did you see anything interesting or funny?? I'm a 'snoopdog'. I watch and listen for everything.:sail:

Hi, I just found your report today & am enjoying it so far. Now I'm off to read your pre-trip report. :surfweb:

Time to go home :sad1:

Our flight was at 4:49 but ME was picking us up at 1:35. I totally get why Disney does this but it doesn't make it suck any less.

I had ADR for WCC at 11:45 in case we wanted to sit down and eat one more time before we left. I had called in the a.m. and gotten permission for 1pm checkout so we had some wiggle room in our plans. The girls wanted to tan and get a picture and I wanted the hot tub for a while so we finished packing and headed out to the pool about 9am.

100_0228.jpg

Pretty cool, huh? :)

We finished up and changed and took our checked baggage to the airline checkin desk. They saw our tags, weighed our bags and off we went. It was that simple!!!

Since we had the room until 1pm we left our carry-ons in and went to WCC. Our official review, having eaten here twice, is that the place is ok. There is one server who works there who is SO LOUD and really inappropriately obnoxious that she ruins it for everyone. I think if she had been ours I would have left. Seriously, it was bad.

Our server was slow but fine. She was sweet and played a little. TP1 asked about a giant jar of soda on another table so the server brought her one. :)

100_0234.jpg

We all helped her finish it and she got a FP to the restroom :rotfl2:

100_0239.jpg

100_0240.jpg

Back to the room, get our stuff, go hang out until 1:20pm.

100_0244.jpg

The above is a cool set of topiaries right across the road from the ME bus stop.

Can I just say, that during the renovations MCO is a pit? Seriously!

BF2 couldn't take anymore so she passed out while the rest of us waited impatiently fot the 4:49....wait 5:00...wait.....whenever flight. We finally boarded and got off the ground about 5:30.

100_0248.jpg

The pilot made up some time in the air which didn't do us any good because we already had a 2hr layover! United CMH to/from MCO SUCKS!!! :) I'll be glad for my Southwest non-stop in August even if I can't use the airline checkin desk! :)

Ok, I'm sure none of you need to hear this but pass it on to your friends. Or any stupid people you know. If you wish to berate your husband while traveling....do it in private. It only make you look like a complete cow and people feel sorry for him. I seriously could have smacked this woman. She was drunk which didn't help, but please!! Ok, nuff said.

Flight from IAD to CMH was uneventful and DH picked us up out front.

We were so tired but so happy to be home but so sorry to be gone from WDW!!! Anyway, off to bed.

A few thoughts:

Going solo would be interesting but I'm still not sure

Taking 3 teenage girls on vacation is really fun. Give them enough freedom to keep them happy and enough rules to keep them safe and it works out.

It's ok to relax. You do NOT have to see everything or even most of it to have a good time.

Disney is definitely slipping in the 'clean' department. Now, unless I'm wading through filth it's hard to affect my Magic, but there it is. Mexico was nasty and there were plenty of workers, Pooh had a literal pile of trash. You know when you come around that last corner in the line and it sort of fans out to the right? I am not kidding there was at least half a trash can worth of ick. When we sat on the veranda of the Crystal Palace there was trash under all of the benches. I'm not talking about gum wrappers. I mean empty cups, food wrappers, etc. I've seen this debate before and I'm not trying to start it again. I've heard old-timers (my first visit was 2002) lament the old days and I've wondered why. This trip I saw stuff to make me lament. Again, it didn't kill my Magic and I have 2 more trips this year and another in the works for January. I'm just saying.

WL is and amazing resort and I'm glad we tried it again. Our first time was for 1 night in 2002 at the end of a wonderful vacation with kids ages 2, 7 and 9. DH remembers some but I don't. I think WLV is definitely on our DVC short list.

Disney bus service is decidely 'hit and miss' and you just have to go with it. When we were at POR in 2005 it was awful. It took us forever! This trip we never waited more than 5 mins and rarely that. It 'just so happened' that we were walking up to the bus stop as a bus was coming in. Dumb luck. I bet if we could have seen a video in 2005 it would show us coming around the corner just as a bus left every time. Be patient, you aren't missing anything. Unless of course your ADR is that close and then you just learned to leave more time. :)

50's Prime Time Cafe is all about the server. I suggest making ADR, getting drinks, seeing how the server is and THEN ordering dinner or dessert. If you think the server will not be to your taste just get dessert. They are fabulous and worth every penny. If the server IS to your taste go ahead and do your whole meal. The food is ok to good, just way overpriced without the 'show' you want. Also, I keep saying 'to your taste' because some folks will think an enthusiastic server is too much and some will think a mild mannered on is ripping them off. Just take the time to get to know them and make your decision after. If you want one, they make a wonderful Cosmopolitain :)

Purposefully wander DHS for the 'street shows'. We stumbled on 2 and they were both highlights of our trip!! :rotfl2: The improv is hysterical.

Let the crowds go ahead when the park is closing. We spent 15 extra minutes letting the crazies :) go by, got to people watch and still got where we were going in plenty of time. Especially if you have small kids, just grab some curb, or bench if you're lucky, and relax. More magic happens that way.

This trip could have royally sucked. 3 teenage girls and a fairly uptight mom could have been a recipe for great disaster. It seems, however, that we were all determined to have a good time and did so. I'm sure there were times when each of us was irritated with another, but it didn't show. I genuinely had an amazing time and would take them all again tomorrow. I'm hoping they had a good time too. They said they did and are all planning their next trips. And their weddings :)

Thanks for all the encouragement. It's a bummer to write something and feel like you're in it alone! :)

Check out http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1869899 for the cruise with TP2 coming up in August. I am SO lucky!! :)
