She's great.

We had an hour appointment, we talked for 2 1/2 hours, and she didn't charge me anything.

The lawyer that referred me to her is the one that gave her, her first job, and is still very good friends with 14 years later, even had lunch with her yesterday.

We talked about almost everything, including my dd and the trouble she went through, and the judge that my lawyer knows personally and is good friends with as well.

She said that we weren't filing today because she could see I wasn't quite ready yet. But that I would know, and to give her a call.

This lady and I are going to get along really well.

That is great news Laurie!!! It's nice to have someone you trust take care of such a difficult issue.

{{{hugs}}}

yeah, she is someone that I can trust and I really think she'll do a good job too.

lol:tongue:

I think I'll pass this time.

Glad it went well! Sounds like you are in good hands!

Good luck.:) Sounds like she understands your situation real well if she thinks you should wait awhile.:)

thats great!! Ratsrule, your joking about the name right? Please tell me you are....

and you just reminded me...my mom's real estate lawyer's last name is CROOK!!!

I'm so glad you like her Laurie! Thats so important! It shows that she is good by talking like that and then not pushing you as well. You deserve someone like that to help you through all of this! Big {{HUGS}}!!

That helps a tremendous amount - having someone that you feel very comfortable with!!!

I'm glad you found someone you are comfortable with. It makes all the difference in the world! Good luck with everything! :D

Yeah, now that the first meeting is over, I feel much better. I wasn't sure what I was getting into, what kind of lawyer she would be, whether or not I'd ever want to do any business with her, and all that kind of stuff.

I think she really decided she liked me was when she told me a story about my dd's judge that had me almost in tears.

When someone comes before the judge, and they have a long period of probation, he makes them take some kind of music classes. When they come and see him, they have to play something for him.
My lawyer went to see the judge one day and when she walked in a man was playing a violin. She said he played beautifully. She asked the baliff, what was up and he told her that this man, many years earlier, used to have to come and see the judge.
The boy went on to play for a symphony. The man came to play for him, to thank him for caring and changing his life.

oh my gosh....thats so sweet!! To think something like that could change a person's life forver (for the good) is amazing.

That's great, Laurie! She sounds like the right person to help you through this process.

I am so glad to hear it went well Laurie. It really does sound like you found the perfect lawyer for you :)

I'm so glad it went well Laurie. Good for you!

Great news, Laurie!!:D :D

wagamama,
The lawyers are from a Three Stooges show!!

ratsrule,
My DD had to make a resume for 7th grade history and she was going to be a lawyer. For her references she wrote that she clerked at the law firm of Dewey, Cheatem, and Howe. The teacher howled!!!:D
