Any tips for a n00b?

Thank you! It's coming later today! :thumbsup2 Good gosh I can't believe it either... I really, really can't. AHHHHHHH! Haah thanks girl! Sometimes you just need a little time off.

AHHH THE HORROR! Hahah it's okay. I can't believe it either! I honestly don't even know how many times I've said that... but it's so true. OH you KNOW I'm doing a trip report! I'm so excited about it!

Aww, yeah!

AHHHHH you should!! I'd love to read along! I mean, I don't necessarily have any tips because this is my first TR as well, but honestly, if i had ANY advice, it would be to just be yourself when you write it. Don't worry about what anyone would think. It's YOUR TR, after all, so don't be afraid to be a little silly! :thumbsup2 Also, lots of details are helpful when it comes to writing a TR, and lots of pictures! I feel like I didn't have quite enough on this one so my next one will have A LOT. But yeah! I hope that helps... hahaha.

Alright, now for a final try to get a comment for this TR finished, even though it's been done for awhile :( But as I've said time and time again in an extremely cliche'd annoying way, all good things must come to an end. So let me get on with my last LONG but wonderful comment...

Oh, I love MSEP! It really is such a fun parade to watch. It also is a landmark in Disney history in a way especially with how long its been around the Disney parks. Of course, I am one of those people who prefers SpectroMagic. I've only seen pieces of both parades due to some quick moving we had planned prior to seeing them, but Spectro I saw on my first trip and MSEP on my second. Spectro I feel fits in better with the nighttime spectacles and the theme I like a lot more as well, it seems to be an amped up and reinvented version of MSEP that isn't just something to look at, but something to feel. It's like the parade version of Wishes. Also, I can't get the music for Spectro out of my head, it is very catchy and I just love it, same with MSEP though that one just goes on and on and on... but I like them both still, both have a special place in my heart :) LOL @ you guys trying to get Dopey's attention, must've been hysterical to see haha

LOL @ creepy Pete! It is weird isn't it how they cast certain people as certain characters at certain ages? (Certainly, she says!) They really need to find some younger people for those characters. Hopefully more Spieling Peter Pans *crosses fingers*

That's so funny how you were so easily frightened on the Haunted Mansion. Usually it's just the first room for most people, but you seem to be VERY terrified of the whole thing. Wow, not that that's bad (my sister is the same way) I mean the Bride is pretty creepy (I think the first time I rode I sorta moved out of the way when we got to her) though I heard the old one prior to this one was really scary along with the Grooms head popping up all around (they need to bring those back IMO). And I love all the little sound cues they have when the ride stops. I don't recall that happening (the ride does stop consistently) when I went on it and we were stuck for about five minutes. Maybe I got to listen more closely to the dialogue  Well, at least you got off the ride in one piece (and you best be going back on or the playful spooks will come and find you!)

:thumbsup2 to Space Mountain and going through the FP lane! I'm guessing the reason they did that is because both tracks are split by the standby line and the FP lane because of how quick it takes to get on one side versus the other. I rode Alpha my whole second trip when the FP line was getting long, never Omega sadly :( Anyways, glad to hear that was a nice last ride for your trip. Cinderella Castle... :'( Oh how I long for thee!

Awwww... now, it's the last day, always so sad! I feel bad for your friend who had to leave early, no fun not allowing an extra day or half-day for some last minute magic :thumbsup2 to getting into T-Rex, but a shame you couldn't have gone into World of Disney one last time :/ Must've taken some intense self-control right then, props to that! LOL @ your connection of the T-Rex to the dentist. I can just imagine the dentist saying if a Dinosaur walked in, "Look at those chompaas!" Anyways...

The room you were in looks pretty cool! I want to be in the Aquarium room or whatever that is called because I think they are pretty awesome :hyper: Mmmm... the foods you got sound so good especially the Bronto Burger, YUM! And you can't ever go wrong with Waffle Fries or Panera chips (Haven't had those in awhile) :D Though sorry about the stain, eck! But glad to hear you enjoyed the meal as a whole (:

Leaving Disney... why must that phrase even exist? It truly is awful, isn't it? Whenever I leave, I have like an extreme mood-change moment where I get really sad and just don't talk at all. Someday, I will figure out a way to live in Disney FOREVER! LOL @ your deliriousness though, Jaq would definitely be a great person to impersonate when you are coocoo, I love how he has his own little accent, it is adorable. And I love the little welcome back note your family left for you, so adorbs!

Sad to see this trip be over already, but I can't wait to read your final thoughts! I'm sure these will be VERY interesting :mickeyjum

P.S. I think this might be my longest comment EVER and just saying, you said in your hints for the ADR guessing game that there were three character meals and in the finalized choices there were FOUR (Chef Mickey's, Akershus, 'Ohana, Crystal Palace), even though I would still get one wrong, an FYI for ya right there.

You're just in time for the wrap-up! VERY NICE.

Oh, I love MSEP! It really is such a fun parade to watch. It also is a landmark in Disney history in a way especially with how long its been around the Disney parks. I totally understand why people like Spectro better! I think the music is beautiful. But you're totally right about MSEP, it is the original. I mean I don't have anything against Spectro. I just love MSEP!

LOL @ creepy Pete! It is weird isn't it how they cast certain people as certain characters at certain ages? (Certainly, she says!) They really need to find some younger people for those characters. Hopefully more Spieling Peter Pans *crosses fingers*

Yeah, I think there must be certain age requirements for character jobs. The good thing is that Pete doesn't do meet and greets, so nobody will ever see the creepy up close hahah. Are you saying you want to be Peter Pan? Awesome!

Hahah no I'm really not afraid of the entire ride, but seriously, that bride. She frightens me. She looks like a mental patient or something. I don't know how it used to be, but if it was MORE creepy before, then I am certainly fine with the less creepy version haha! Don't worry, I'll definitely ride it again. Just hoping not to get stuck near any psycho brides anytime soon.

I didn't realize they were called Alpha and Omega! That's awesome! You're totally right though, all the FP users were already done! We weren't complaining hahah. It was my first time riding the FP side, because all the other times I've just ridden standby! (Early in the morning, usually!)

Awwww... now, it's the last day, always so sad!

I know, I did too. The good news for her was that she was home HOURS before us because of her flying, while we were still deliriously driving on the interstate for hours upon hours hahah!

It was cool! I think all the rooms are cool there. I wish I knew what they were called. I know which room you're talking about. We could see the big aquarium from wherever we were. Oh man, you must get yourself some Panera chips! PANERA IS THE BEST.

Leaving Disney... why must that phrase even exist? It truly is awful, isn't it? Whenever I leave, I have like an extreme mood-change moment where I get really sad and just don't talk at all. Someday, I will figure out a way to live in Disney FOREVER! And I love the little welcome back note your family left for you, so adorbs!

Seriously... I have no clue. It's a sad, sad state of affairs. I'm the same way. I'm just quiet for a while. Haha yeah, Jaq is awesome. He and Gus Gus are precious.

Sad to see this trip be over already, but I can't wait to read your final thoughts! I'm sure these will be VERY interesting :mickeyjum

Oh yes, they will be VERY interesting... ish? Hopefully? Hahah! And they're coming up in 5...4...3...2...

'Ohana isn't a character meal at dinner! MWAHAHAHA!

The One With All the Stuff I Bought

WDW Souvenirs, December 2011

Let’s talk about all my lovely souvenirs, shall we? We shall. (I apologize for these pictures, none of them have the greatest lighting. I need to learn to take pictures in places other than my room, where the lighting is quite awful. Anyways!)

I bought these lovely items at Mouse Gear!

Here we have the common but still awesome pink WDW t-shirt:

SDC12572.jpg

My 2011 photo album… FRONT AND BACK! (If you catch the Friends reference, you win.)

SDC12581.jpg

SDC12580.jpg

I filled up that bad boy. Aw yeah.

Also purchased at Mouse Gear were my lovely black sequin Minnie Mouse ears! I couldn’t get a decent picture of them for the life of me, but I know that you know what they look like. :thumbsup2

Then we have the souvenir cup from 50’s Prime Time Café, complete with GLOW CUBE.

SDC12681.jpg

This isn’t a typical souvenir, but I love it. I use that cup and the cube very often. I love it. It’s just precious.

Next up is my adorable and EXTREMELY comfortable Christmas crew neck sweatshirt!

SDC12574.jpg

I really just love that. I probably wore it on Christmas day. It is honestly the most comfortable clothing item I own at the moment. What a winner. This was available at a few places, but I actually bought it at a kiosk outside the entrance to Hollywood Studios. Go figure!

From the store outside the Town Square Theater meet and greets, also known as the dump shop:

SDC12711.jpg

The Minnie antenna topper for my mom! Now our car antennas match. Precious.

And from the Emporium… my very first pin!

SDC12693.jpg

I love it! And it’s Limited Edition, which makes it that much more awesome.

I bought all this stuff at Sport Goofy! (Aka, the store at All Star Sports.)

First, we have my annual purchase: a Disney mug. (I’ve seriously bought a mug on every trip I’ve taken to Disney… two on my first trip, actually. :rotfl:)

mug.jpg

Ugh, that is the worst picture of the bunch, I think. Oh well. Cinderella was one of those movies that I just watched over and over as a kid. (And yes, it still makes me nervous when all of the animals are trying to help her get the key to get out of the tower. Good grief.) Although she isn’t my favorite, Cinderella has always had a special place in my heart, so I thought this mug was perfect. Plus, I’m obviously a princess, so… :rolleyes1

This is one of my favorite purchases of the trip: my second pin ever!

SDC12571.jpg

Why is it so special? Well, I want my pin collection to include pins from all the resorts I’ve stayed at. Not only have I now stayed at all of the All Star Resorts, but if you look at the order of the little charms representing movies, music, and sports, you’ll notice that they’re not in the order that they are in real life.

If you’ve ever stayed at an All Star Resort, or even driven past them, you’ll know that you always come upon Sports first, then Music, then Movies. (Or, if you’re driving down the street the other way, it would be Movies, Music, then Sports.)

On the pin, the charms are in this order: Music, Movies, and Sports… WHICH IS THE ORDER THAT I STAYED AT THEM!

I stayed at Music in June 2010…
I stayed at Movies in December 2010…
And I stayed at Sports in December 2011.

That may not be a big deal to anyone other than me, EVER, but I found it so awesome. It was basically my perfect pin!

I also bought my brother a Christmas tumbler (cup) which he loves, but I don't have a picture. SORRY YALL. :(

AND FINALLY… the mystery shirt that I talked about in ‘The One Where the Gang’s (Finally) All Here!”

I first saw this shirt in Sarah’s (wdwgirl03) October trip report, and I seriously squealed when I saw it. I just thought it was such a creative idea and it was beautiful, and it just screamed ‘Disney magic’ to me.

SDC12573.jpg

AHHH I LOVE IT! I fount it on my very first night at World of Disney, but as you may or may not remember, it was way way WAY too hectic in there, so I left the store without it. After that I regretted not buying it, and I looked high and low for that shirt for the entire trip! I finally found it on the LAST NIGHT at Sir Mickey’s in Fantasyland! WOOHOO!

I love that it’s a reference to UP, but with the house being the castle, and the balloons are Mickey balloons! I really, really love this shirt and I’m actually planning to wear it on my first day at Disney this month! (Yes, I plan my outfits. Feel free to judge me. I don’t mind.)

So there you have it folks, all my lovely souvenirs. I’m surprised at how many there were! Goodness.

The One Where I Wrap It Up
Part 1!

December 2011

Well yall, the time has finally come: the time for me to be done with my very first trip report.

I’m not sure exactly WHERE to begin, so I’ll just start with the negative.

Unfortunately there was a pretty big negative on this trip, and that was, of course, me getting sick and basically having to spend an entire day by myself.

I came very close to just not writing a trip report because of that. When I thought about it, though, I realized that would be stupid. The trip was great, and I was only sick for one chunk of it.

I hope I didn’t come across as being too negative about it, but it was a serious bummer. I tried to stay true to how I felt. I tried to stay positive, which is just who I am. I hope that came across! I just have to say though, how wonderful you all were about it. Yall were just incredibly sweet the entire time and I can’t even say how much I appreciated it! I was a little worried that people would read it and then be like “Ew, who wants to read about a trip where someone got sick?” and therefore stop reading. (For all I know, some people might have done that!) However, all of you commenters were just wonderful and it made me feel so good, you have no idea. So I just want to thank you for that, because it really did mean a lot to me!

But seriously… enough with the negative, am I right, or am I right?

Let’s talk about some TRIP HIGHLIGHTS!!!

Day 1

For me, actually arriving at Disney is one of the best parts! It’s just the beginning. After waiting and counting down to the trip for however long, you’re finally there, and the entire trip is right in front of you! There is no better feeling!

Seeing the castle for the first time on a trip never ceases to make me absolutely giddy!

We did a lot of awesome rides and attractions on our first day, but my favorites were the three rides that make up the TRIPLE MOUNTAIN WHAMMY!!!!

SDC10701.jpg

We had a great time at the Magic Kingdom, but another awesome part of the day was when I stepped foot in the Beach Club for the first time… thus beginning my obsession with the resort.

And of course, the reason we were at the Beach Club in the first place…

THE KITCHEN SINK! (This is also where we got mistaken for Cast Members the first time… hence the title of the trip report!)

Day 2

I finally got to see the Magic Kingdom opening show for the first time!

SDC12431.jpg

Everyone absolutely LOVED the Crystal Palace, just like I hoped they would!

(Yes, there are four characters there, but Piglet is my boy.)

We had a wonderful morning at the Magic Kingdom!

We spent the afternoon at Animal Kingdom that day!

Festival of the Lion King is always a highlight for me. That show is everything.

SDC10608.jpg

We got to see the Jingle Jungle Parade, too!

407816_10151077726325177_820575176_22144948_436018150_n.jpg

I have a weird obsession with ‘it’s tough to be a bug.’

Next up, we spend the evening at Hollywood Studios, complete with some thrills, some food, some seatbelt problems, and of course ME BEING THE REBEL SPY ON STAR TOURS!!!

We also saw Fantasmic, and everyone’s favorite: The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights!

381410_10151077728375177_820575176_22144966_79531890_n.jpg

Last but not least, we headed to Epcot to see Holiday IllumiNations!

SDC12613.jpg

WHEW! Are you still alive? To review, we went to every park that day.

The One Where I Wrap It Up
Part 2!

December 2011

Day 3

That morning was spent at Epcot doing some favorites, and some firsts!

SDC12319.jpg

SDC11120.jpg

After a relaxing ride on the Friendship Boats, we ended up back at Hollywood!

We rode the Great Movie Ride, where two awesome things happened:

Jenelle was our tour guide,

386424_10151077815860177_820575176_22145461_467310923_n.jpg

and we got the cowboy scene!

Screenshot2012-01-28at75908PM.png

Screenshot2012-01-28at80016PM.png

We also had a wonderful lunch at 50’s Prime Time Café, which was a first for all of us (except Sally)!

SDC12614.jpg

(Here is where I skip a rather large chunk of the day because of the ‘negative’ I mentioned earlier.)

That night, we went to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party!

SDC12369.jpg

(Check out that MOB of people on Main Street. GOOD GRIEF.)

While I was unfortunately too sick to enjoy most of it, there was a certain part that I enjoyed more than I can even say.

406806_10151077824845177_820575176_22145510_2126303262_n.jpg

MEETING RAPUNZEL AND EUGENE! Good golly, I love them. LOVE THEM.

Day 4

On our last full day, I finally got to see Celebrate A Dream Come True parade!

SDC12616.jpg

Even though I didn’t get to see it happen, it was awesome that Ryan won his American Idol Experience show!

407977_10151077883550177_820575176_22145805_197225743_n.jpg

I had a lot of fun (and laughs) in Tomorrowland that evening.

SDC12491.jpg

Stitch.jpg

I also got to see the Castle Lighting!

SDC11234.jpg

I got to see (the REAL) Wishes for the first time, too!

SDC12653.jpg

We got to see the lovely MSEP, complete with creepy Pete.

SDC12662.jpg

And finally, we took one last frumpy and hilarious ride on Space Mountain!

Screenshot2012-01-31at102722PM.png

Day 5

Before leaving Disney for good on our last day, we visited Downtown Disney one last time, and had an impromptu meal at T-Rex Café!

SDC12540.jpg

I also got to see these guys from a distance! (I think I forgot to include this picture in the actual update so… here ya go! Hahah!)

SDC12539.jpg

Staying at All Star Sports

I actually really enjoyed Sports a lot more than I thought I would! It was so much cuter than I had pictured it to be, and thankfully there were no huge tour groups there or anything. (We saw one or two sports teams, but they were spread out and well behaved, thankfully.)

While it wasn’t my favorite of the All Star Resorts, I really did like it! It was perfect for what we needed, since we spent literally all of our time at the parks.

Everything Else

All in all, this was a fantastic trip. It wasn’t my best, but it was still great! We got so much done for the short time we were there.

The only things I really wish I could have done were Toy Story Mania, Test Track, Tower of Terror, and Dumbo.

Toy Story Mania, from the very first time I rode it, has been one of my absolute FAVORITES. The whole trip I was planning to go on Saturday morning to the EMH at Hollywood, but we all know how that turned out. I was more bummed than you will ever know that I didn’t get to ride it on this trip.

Tower of Terror was one that I skipped by choice. I love it, but last time I rode it (in December 2010) I kinda… sorta… maybe blacked out a little bit. Welp, that isn’t good. I skipped that one on purpose, but now I miss it!

Test Track’s line was too long whenever I was in Epcot, and it was another one that I planned on doing but other things got in the way. Of course, only like a MONTH later is when they announced that the ride would be closing to get refurbished. If I’d known at the time, I would have insisted we wait in that line, just so I could ride it one last time as it was!

Dumbo was another ride I meant to do, but just never got around to. The only reason I wish I could have ridden it is because of the fact that it moved! I’m sure I’ll still enjoy the new location just as much.

I also really loved being able to go with Amanda, Kristen, Sally, and Ryan. I’m thankful for the trip with them, because I barely ever get to see them in real life. I hope we can do it again!

It was really great seeing Jenelle too, and I’m so glad that she got to be our tour guide on the Great Movie Ride (especially since she doesn’t even work at GMR anymore) and I’m extremely thankful to her for letting us use her Cast Member discount for the room and a few other things.

I guess that’s it! WOW. I can’t believe I just finished my first trip report! I had such an awesome time reliving this trip and sharing it with all of you!

You all are such nice people, and I’m so glad that you decided to join in my trip report (even though I was still a newbie when I started it)! I can’t even tell you how awesome you all are, and how much I appreciate you reading and commenting! (Okay, I guess I appreciate the lurkers too. I’m totally kidding, I definitely appreciate you… I just wish you’d speak up sometimes! Hahaha!)

Again, thank you all so much for sticking with me through this thing. I know I lost some people along the way, but I always kept gaining new people as well. Your comments always made my day, and I really hope you all enjoyed reading along. I’m so glad to call you all my Dis Friends!

So… now what? Well, my next trip is in TWO WEEKS. I’m most definitely doing another TR, but there are some things I want you to be aware of before I even begin! First of all… that TR will be better.

(Did any of you ever watch The Amanda Show? Because that reminded me of a segment they used to do on there called ‘Blockblister.’ It was hilarious! “This movie better! MUCH BETTER!!!” Anyways…)

I must say I’m pretty proud of this one, but I always wished I had more pictures. On my next trip I’m going to take so many pictures that you won’t even know what hit you! I will also be doing this next TR more quickly, because you never know when another Disney trip may pop up! :rolleyes1 There’s also a slight chance that I already wrote the intro to the new TR… about a month ago. I just know that when I get home from this next trip, the PDD will hit me harder than ever and I’ll just want to dive right in! So I hope you’re ready!

So this is really it. Once again, thank you all SO MUCH for reading and commenting! Stick around, I’ll have a couple more posts for my mini-PTR-within-a-TR coming up before I leave!

THE END OF THE TRIP UPDATES

I loved your TR and everything about it. I can't wait to read about your next trip !!! Thanks so much for sharing !!!

MARISSA! I just read through the final updates of your TR and I'm so sad it's all over! :( BUT! On the other hand, I'm also really excited for you to go on your trip really soon! And I hope you get to do everything you want to do while you're there!

Actually, you know what's funny? I'm fairly certain Rachel (okw19) is going to be there at the same time you are! She's kind of disappeared from the DISboards a little bit, but I still text with her and stuff and she told me she is going to be there the first week of August! How funny would it be if you ran into each other! With the amount of times I ran into her when we were there in January, AND I also had some other person recognize me from the DIS... you just never know! :goodvibes

OMG though, I can't wait to read your tweets while you're on your trip... and then your TR! I hope you realize that is going to get me through the next 4 1/2 months til I go to Disneyland and 6 months til I go to Disney World! AHHH I can't wait to hear all about it!

I hope you don't get sick on this trip; I would've been so bummed out, too! I had one day during our trip when I got a nasty cold and thought I was going to be melt while walking around World Showcase, so I somewhat know your pain... though I'm pretty sure your sickness was WAY worse. :( SO! Fingers crossed you don't have to deal with any of that at all!

I hope you keep updating the PTR part of this until you go! :goodvibes

I may be one of your lurkers. Sorry! I really have enjoyed your TR, though! We are going this December, and you've given me a good idea of what to expect. I hope we don't get sick though. My DH is absolutely phobic about getting sick to his stomach, and he would want to pack it in and go home! You were such a trooper!

DANI! Don't be sad!!! I will literally be at the MK two weeks from this very moment! That is SO SOON!

AHHH no way! I miss her being around! She's awesome! Seriously though, that would be awesome if I saw her! If you text her anytime soon, you should tell her that I'm gonna be in Disney then too! I'll definitely be on the lookout!

I'm glad you're excited! Hahah that's awesome. I'll be sure to tweet as much as I can! I mean... you're going to Disneyland. THAT'S INCREDIBLE. And then you'll get home... then it'll be Christmas and New Year's... and then BOOM, time to head to WDW! I'm so jealous! I've never even been to California!

Oh, I'm going to make absolutely certain that I do NOT get sick on this trip. It just will not happen... I refuse to let it happen. :rotfl: Feeling sick at all is awful when you're at Disney. Yours was a different kind of sickness, but it was still a sickness, you know? It isn't fun. But yeah... I swear, if I DO get sick again then I just give up on life hahahah.

Oh I will be! Not quite sure what the updates will entail... but I'll figure something out hahah.

Aww, don't apologize! I appreciate you reading! I'm so glad you commented though, I really love seeing who reads this thing! So thank you so much!

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! That's SO exciting that you're going in December! It really is a wonderful time to go. What are your dates?

Oh, I'm sure yall will be fine! My sickness was due to my own foolishness. :rotfl: Thank you so much though! I did my best haha.

Again, I really appreciate you reading, and now commenting! I love it! :flower3:

Great wrap-up! Love all your sovenirs, especially that retro t-shirt. I think everyone in my family has one, in varying colors (my mom has the same as yours :)). YAY for getting the Up-ish (ok, that sounds ridiculous, LOL) t-shirt. But it is super cute. :thumbsup2

You never know when another Disney trip might pop up? OK, what are you hiding? Do you have another trip planned? And if you do, can I come?

Can't wait for your next TR. :)

Excellent wrap up(s), girly! But I'd expect nothing else from you...I've thoroughly enjoyed the ENTIRE thing. Every Disney trip has its ups and downs, but I think just being in the magic makes the downs easier to take. You were a trooper throughout, so kudos to you! I can't wait for your next TR!!

Thank you! I love that shirt too! It's one that I wanted to get on my first trip and I just never ended up doing it then, so I'm really glad to have it now! Hahah that's awesome! Yall should all wear them one day and see what people say. And YEAH, I was so excited about the UP-ish (:lmao:) shirt too! So thanks for introducing it to me hahah.

HAHAHA, I promise, I'm not hiding anything. Right now, just the July trip! But still, you never know!

Thank you! I plan to start it ASAP after I get home!

Aww, thank you so much! You're too kind! I'm really glad you enjoyed it!

You're so right! It was really hard to be TOO upset when I was sitting in the train station, looking down on Main Street. :) Thank you! I can't wait to go on the trip, and write about it too!

nice wrap up! I enjoyed it, as I enjoyed the whole report and look forward to your next one! have a great trip!

I loved seeing all of your wonderful souvenir treasures! I especially love your shirt with the castle flying up with the Mickey balloons! And the pins are so cute, too. I'm seriously considering getting into pin trading but can't decide if I want to get my 1st pins & such on our trip or get some beforehand.

Oh - and you're not alone - I plan our outfits for each day when I'm packing!

And I loved your trip recap! Thank you so much for sharing your fantastic memories with us. I have truly enjoyed it! I'm already looking forward to your next one! :goodvibes
