The One With A Prehistoric Goodbye
Day 5: Sunday, December 18, 2011
On our very last morning at Disney World, we slept until around 9:00. The first thing I noticed was that Sally had already left! She was flying home and had to leave early to catch the Magical Express, and we had all missed seeing her off. (Its okay, she said she didnt blame us for wanting to sleep since we had a long trip ahead of us!)
The rest of us took it slow that morning. We were so sad to be leaving.
We got ready, packed up all of our stuff, and tidied up the room as best as we could. Then we rolled our luggage to the car and hopped in.
I had to stop in Sport Goofys to pick up my purchases from the day before! It only took a few minutes, and then it was back in the car to head out. Goodbye, All Star Sports, its been swell.
We werent leaving yet though. PU-LEASE. I mean why would we want to leave Disney right away? No, we didnt want the magic to be over quite yet. Instead, we headed to Downtown Disney!
We wanted to do some last minute shopping and get some lunch before we headed home. We werent really sure where to go for lunch, but figured wed find SOMETHING at Downtown Disney! We found a parking spot right away (Sunday morning, yall good time to go!) and headed to the Marketplace.
The first thing we saw was The T-Rex Café! Hmm why not try to get in there?
Amanda, Kristen, and Ryan headed over to World of Disney to do some shopping, and I stayed near T-Rex to wait for them. I did NOT need to be tempted by another Disney store. (Its a good thing I didnt go, because I probably would have run out of money!
)
I enjoyed just sitting there and people-watching though. It was such a nice day! The temperature had dropped a few degrees so it was a little cooler, but it was still perfect for December. It was a beautiful day! I couldnt believe that Christmas was only one week away so insane.
While I was waiting, I texted Sally and apologized for ya know, SLEEPING through her exit. She said she was at MCO waiting for her first flight. (She had a connecting flight in Atlanta. OOF.) She told me that shed dreamt that we were at one of the parks and I kept falling asleep on the rides or something. HAHA! Interesting, but NOT REALISTIC!!! Dreams, I tell ya theyre weird!
I decided to go look around in the T-Rex store, because there was very little chance that I was actually going to want dinosaur merchandise. While I was in there, I saw a METEOR SHOWER!!!
When I see these next three pictures (all of the same dino) I am reminded of the dentist. I swear, dental hygienists are always telling me to open a little wider. I have a small mouth. I'm SORRY.
Just imagine this guy at the dentist.
COME ON son, open wide.
Wider... you can do it.
There you go.
LOOK AT THOSE CHOMPAS!
Now prepare to meet... Mr. Angry Eyes. Or Mr. Crazy Eyes. Whichever one works for you.
Yay.
Cool.
The meteor shower was pretty cool! I thought it would look different than it did, though.
I went back outside and sat back down at my little designated bench and waited for the others to come back from shopping! I watched more and more people come up and get into the restaurant immediately, so I was a little nervous that we might not be able to get in.
Eventually, they came back with their loot, and we had no trouble getting a table! We only had to wait a few minutes.
We were led into the restaurant into some room that I dont really know the name of. It wasnt the cool ice age room, though.
It was whatever room this stuff is in:
Does that tell you anything?
Clearly Im not very knowledgeable on the T-Rex Café.
I thought this was cool looking. We could see it from our table. I thought the aquarium was cool!
Sorry about those pictures, haha. Theyre pretty awful.
Anyways, soon enough our server, whose name was Abdel, came and took our orders. He was nice, but I basically only remember him/his name because I looked at the receipt from the meal.
We all ordered Cokes to drink, and Bronto Burgers to eat. I think it suddenly hit us that we were hungry, we hadnt even had breakfast! FOOD.
The Bronto Burger is just a normal burger or not. It has an ONION RING on top. Good golly miss Molly, YUM. Seriously, it was really good! I dont eat burgers or beef in general all that much, so I love getting a good burger every now and then, and this one was delicious! The only bad thing was that it dripped on me and I had a lovely stain on my sweatshirt for the next 14 hours. Hahaha, classy.
The burgers at T-Rex normally come with chips, but you can pay extra to get waffle fries. I didnt really feel like paying extra, so I was fine with the chips. Amanda and Kristen got them too. They were very much like the chips they give you at Panera, which means that they were awesome. If you dont know anything about Panera, I guess the chips could be described as kettle chips. YUM.
Ryan decided he wanted the fries. They gave him a ton of them, so he was nice enough to share a couple with us. The one I had was good, but not even in the same league as the waffle fries from Chick-Fil-A. Those are the best EVER. These were a little too crunchy for me, or something.
I was too depressed to take food pictures, so I borrowed this one from the Internet. Thanks Internet, I appreciate your business. (Surprisingly, I couldnt find any photos of the burger with the chips. Weird! Well just pretend that this one was Ryans.)
None of us could finish our lunches, but we definitely enjoyed what we did eat! I would definitely go back to T-Rex!
After lunch, we couldnt deny it any longer. We had to leave. UGH. We got back in the car and settled in for the loooooong ride back to Virginia.
I actually refused to look at the see ya real soon sign on our way out. I was basically in denial. Im not a fan of leaving Disney, yall.
I mean LITERALLY as soon as you go under the gate, its just BOOM, over. This is the real world. Ugh. Its such a weird and sad feeling! I do not enjoy it.
Amanda and I tried to entertain ourselves by playing cards, and we literally played until it got dark out. Not even kidding. I actually cant remember which games we played. War? Go fish? BS? No clue! (I even asked her later which games we played, and forgot AGAIN. Sigh. Im clearly not at my best on departure day.
)
We stopped at McDonalds around 8:00 or so, in either South or North Carolina. (Our trip began and ended with McDonalds how lovely.)
Let me just tell you, that was one weird and long car ride. I think we were all delirious. At one point I did an impression of Jaq, one of the adorable mice from Cinderella. LUCIFEE MEAN, SNEAAAAKY. JUMP AT YOU!!!!!! And at another point, I did the Chewbacca noise. Like, really? What was going on? NO CLUE.
Eventually though, we made it back home. I think we pulled up to my house at around 12:47 am on December 19. We all said our goodbyes, and I hauled all my stuff into my sleepy house. I was greeted by my precious cat, and this:
Awww.
I was TIRED when I got home. I remember looking at the clock as I was getting ready for bed and it was 1:00. Literally 24 hours earlier, we were on Space Mountain.
I missed Disney already! It had been a great trip, despite the unfortunate events.
I already could not wait to go back.
