popcorn::

OH YOU. Hahahaha. Now now, patience child! See, if I finish this thing up soon, you'll have to wait OVER A MONTH for the new one to start! Do you really want that?!?!?! :confused3

Also, I'm really excited right now because apparently I have FANS. :cool2:

The One Where Pete’s Creepy and So Is That Bride

December 17, 2011

We didn’t have to look very far for a good spot to watch the Main Street Electrical Parade. Liberty Square was wide open! It was the second parade of the night, so I guess a lot of people had already left. Seriously, if you are ever in a situation where you can choose between two parades, ALWAYS go to the later one. It’s so much less crowded and so much more enjoyable because of it!

We got a spot right behind the rope! Ryan decided he was still hungry and that he wanted some ice cream. I decided to be nice and give him a few bucks to go get a Mickey bar… HAPPY BIRTHDAY. (I know, I’m so generous.)

Soon enough, it was starting! Those electro-synthe-magnetic musical sounds were filling the air and I was EXCITED.

I know I’m in the minority here, but I LOVE THE MAIN STREET ELECTRICAL PARADE. I don’t see what the big problem with it is. It’s the original, am I right? Come on yall. What’s not to love?

To be fair, I have nothing to compare it to because I’ve never seen SpectroMagic. We just missed the cutoff on our first trip by a few weeks! I’ve heard the music to Spectro and I love it, and I’m sure whenever they do bring the parade back that I’ll love it too. I don’t have a bias toward either parade… I’m an equal opportunity parade watcher.

Anyways, I’d seen MSEP before, but nobody else had! Amanda and Kristen are diehard Spectro fans so I was hoping they’d enjoy MSEP too.

Whoops, I guess I forgot to actually get Tink in the picture…

SDC10736.jpg

I love the way Goofy is leaning out of the train, and it looks like he's winking!

SDC10737.jpg

Can you find the ‘hidden’ Mickey?

SDC12518.jpg

SDC12520.jpg

I love those guys! Especially the turtles in the precious glasses.

SDC12529.jpg

Cindy in her pumpkin carriage.

SDC12530.jpg

I don’t know how Charming got stuck with the uglies.

SDC10745.jpg

He did a good job escaping though.

SDC10746.jpg

I LOVE the clock tower! Did any of yall ever notice how it comes between the Cinderella and Peter Pan floats? It works perfectly for both of them. For Cinderella, the clock is set to midnight, and for Peter Pan, it represents Big Ben (or whatever they just changed to name of it to) and ‘You Can Fly!’ I love it. Double meaning!

SDC10747.jpg

Here comes the ship!

SDC10748.jpg

Duking it out. (Spoiler alert: Peter wins. Peter ALWAYS wins.)

SDC12659.jpg

Dopey! At this point, we were all getting a little bit hyper. I don’t know if it was hyper, or punchy, or WHAT. Ryan had bought a Dopey hat earlier in the day and for the longest time I thought it was supposed to be an elephant and that it said ‘Dopex’ and not Dopey. I have no idea why I didn’t make the connection at first! Hahahah. When Dopey went by we were all yelling his name and trying to get his attention so he could see Ryan’s hat, but alas, it did not work. I’m sure he would have appreciated it.

SDC12660.jpg

I love the dwarves. (Or is it dwarfs? I honestly have no idea.)

SDC12662.jpg

Along comes Pete (and his DRAGON), and if you’ve seen the movie, you know that Pete is supposed to be a little boy. Well, CLEARLY the CM that was Pete was NOT a little boy. So he’s floating along atop his dragon and when he gets to us, he notices Ryan’s hat. He says:

“Oh my goodness? What is that on your head?”

Then I guess he figures it out on his own, because he immediately says:

“I like your hat, do you want to trade?”

It would have been cute, but he had this creepy ‘I’m-not-really-a-little-boy’ voice, and then he GIGGLED. Ugh. We all just started cracking up because it was so awkward and creepy. HAHAHAHA. Oh Pete. You have a perfectly lovely hat already. Now go creep out some other parade viewers.

SDC10754.jpg

TO HONOR AMERICA!!! You know the patriotic dancers that come alongside these majestic floats? They crack me up. They always look so happy and just so… proud to be an American-ish. How pleasant.

I think everyone really enjoyed the MSEP!! I know I did, but I mean, I already knew I liked it. If they didn’t like it, they didn’t lead on that they didn’t. SO YAY.

We decided since we were already in Liberty Square that we would go visit some happy haunts.

This was the first time I had ridden Haunted Mansion at nighttime and I was actually (embarrassingly) a little scared. Hahaha, what can I say, I’m a wimp.

Amanda is clearly unafraid.

scary.jpg

OMINOUS.

While we were waiting outside, Amanda kept saying that she saw something moving in one of the windows. AHHH. Okay, I know it was just a special effect, but I was not even gonna look. Nope.

Kristen and I rode in a doombuggy together, and literally as soon as we got on and got settled, it stopped. We had made it all of three feet into the ride.

“The playful spooks have interrupted our tour. Please remain seated in your DOOMbuggy…”

I wanted the playful spooks to move along, maybe get some manners, and cease the interrupting. I mean, rude, right? We seriously sat there for at least 10 minutes. Kristen and I had a great view of the Cast Members trying to work their magic and get the ride to move again. They used the phone a lot. I really don’t know why, but apparently it was useful to them. Hooray for the phone.

Finally we got moving, and everyone applauded! It was actually really funny.

Oh, but then we got stuck again. The GOOD news is that this time, we were stuck in front of…

The Creepy Bride. (Insert the 'Psycho' music here.)

Omg. That is seriously the worst part of the ride for me because she’s EVIL! The creepy version of ‘Here Comes the Bride’ and the fact that she keeps saying, "I do... I DID, MWAHAHAHAHA," certainly doesn’t help anything either. And why does she have to STARE like that?

“We have been unavoidably detained by pranky spirits.”

At this point I was like, ALRIGHT you playful spooks and pranky spirits. You’ve had your fun. LET’S MOVE ALONG NOW LITTLE DOGGIES.

Get out.

Seriously though. I can’t be haunted by this MURDERER any longer.

Thankfully, this time we were only stuck for two or three minutes. Even so, I was incredibly thankful that Kristen was riding with me. I honestly would have been so freaked out if I had been by myself! (Have I mentioned my ‘wimp’ status? Cool.)

Thankfully, we were able to get through the rest of the ride without getting stuck again. Glory. When little Leota told us to “Huuurrrry baaaaaaaaack,” I told her that it wasn’t likely to happen. Sorry ‘lil.

Unfortunately, our little Haunted Mansion setback was actually a major setback! It was now past midnight! The park was staying open until 1:00 AM (regular hours, not EMH) and surprisingly the place was still hopping! I was a little disappointed because I figured most people would leave after the fireworks and parade. Ah well.

That basically only left us time for one more attraction.

We decided that Space Mountain would be perfect as our last ride of the trip, so we high-tailed it back to Tomorrowland.

Screenshot2012-01-26at103311PM.png

The line was actually 40 minutes long! All the best attractions had pretty long waits, so we just decided to stick it out. I swear though, we were all delirious while we were waiting in that line. There was a lot of bouncing and weird dancing and general awkwardness.

We actually got to bypass some of the other people in line, because the CMs sent us to the fastpass side. I guess all the fastpass users were done riding already!

I rode in the very back again and I swear, that is the most fun experience on Space Mountain! It’s extra crazy back there and I love it. If we were tired before, Space Mountain woke us up!

Screenshot2012-01-31at102722PM.png

ISN’T THAT COOL? I’m actually really surprised it turned out that well. I love Space Mountain. :)

When we exited the building, the clock said 1:06 AM. That meant that the park was officially closed and we were being forced to leave.

On our way out I just couldn’t take my eyes off the castle. All the way through Tomorrowland and down Main Street, I just kept staring at it. It’s so beautiful and I didn’t want to leave.

I have a trip coming up really soon now, but at the time I had no clue when I’d be back and it was really, really hard to leave. I just had to convince myself that I would be back EVENTUALLY. It was so sad.

SDC11245.jpg

As soon as we walked out of the Magic Kingdom gates, we were done. It was like a daze walking back to the bus stop. We didn’t have to wait long for a bus and it was basically empty.

When we got back to Sports we basically just passed out. We had to leave in the morning.

Continued in Next Update

Such a fun update! :goodvibes And just to let you know - you're not alone, I love MSEP! Spectro was very good but MSEP is near & dear to my heart so I love it more.

I've been stuck on the Haunted Mansion at the bride part once before. Yeah, it's a little creepy when you have to sit there staring at her.

Yay! for getting to move into the FP lane @ Space Mountain! :woohoo:

So sad though that y'all were leaving the next day. :sad2:

I can't believe your next trip is almost here! :yay::yay::yay:

I'm super excited to hear about all of the fun your family will have.

Great/Sad update!! I don't want you to have to go home! :rotfl:

First off, I'm super glad you got good seats for the parade! I also agree with you, I love MSEP! I haven't seen Spectro either, though..but I don't have a bias either! lol
"I'm an equal opportunity parade watcher." :lmao: You crack me up. :)

I TOTALLY NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT THE CLOCK TOWER REPRESENTING BOTH MOVIES!!! That just blew my mind....mind. blown.

I have never ridden HM at night... I need to...but it sounds scary from your experience! lol I need to ride that, and BTMRR at night!! I'll add that to my November check list.

I love Space Mountain, too! Ben and I totally heart that ride. It's so fantastical...(fantastic + magical) ::yes::

Your castle picture is pretty pretty! It's so sad to look at it when you are leaving and knowing you won't be back for a while....BUT us Disers know a trip is never too far off! :goodvibes

Okay, I think I should probably stop typing now.

okay, now I'm done. :) Have a great day!

YAYAYAYAY!!!!!! I love love love the trip updates, I know I have to wait over a month, but I'll pacify with other TR's here on the Dis, right?

Ok....first of all, even if listening to it in the car, MSEP music ALWAYS makes me cry. If I'm actually in the park watching it, I'm a mess. Crying and bouncing to the beat at the same time. I have NO IDEA why I react this way! ( I also cried the first time I had to leave Magic Kingdom on my first trip with my husband. I mean boo-hoo balling and hugging CM's on my way out! What in the world!!!!!! Normally, I am not a crier, so I have no idea who I become in Disney except apparently I am a crazy emotional loon.) Also, I love the glasses wearing turtles, too. so adorable. as a matter of fact, I want a plushy turtle just like him!

As far as the To Honor America float.... When I traveled out of the country for a month (just to Ireland) I was surprised how patriotic I felt after just 1 week. Don't get me wrong, I LOVED Ireland, but man I was shocked at how much I missed Old Glory. Actually, I think at one point (after a few pints :rolleyes1) I ended up singing the national anthem at the top of my lungs....it may or may not have been in a pub..... again with the :rolleyes1.......

To finish the MSEP commentary here....can I just say that I would let that prince hold my glass slipper ANY day....such a cutie! ;)

I totally agree about the last seat of Space Mountain. It's the best! We always do Big Thunder Mountain for our last ride of the night, but Space Mountain is our first choice if it's raining!

When was your first trip to the world? I'm wondering if it was around the time that my husband and I went together for the first time. That would be way cool.

I hope you have a blast at BAY LAKE TOWER!!!!! so jealous!!!!!!!! If you find me camping out at the door of the tower holding a lime-green sign that says "marDgreen88 it's me Min ::MinnieMo from minandmick...let me in!" Don't be alarmed.

I like MSEP because it reminds me of childhood trips with my grandparents. :lovestruc

I think that HM is SUPER creepy at night, I don't blame you a bit! Thank god we didn't get stuck on it, Maddie would have been scarred for life!

Space Mt. sounds like the perfect last ride!

I can't believe that your trip is almost over! I can't wait for the next TR!

Great update! I can tolerate MSEP, but that music gets to me! Spectro's music is so much better! It's too bad MSEP is so annoying, because the floats are really beautiful! I'm ready for Spectro to be back! :cool1:

We got stuck on HM in front of the bride too and I was SO creeped out! I was convinced she was staring at me, I was hoping the ride would start moving soon!

I love that you mentioned DOOM buggies...I told Brandon the other day that I want the sticker for my car that says "My other car is a doom buggy" and he had no idea what I was talking about! He had no idea that the cars in HM are called doom buggies! Crazy! :sad2:

It's always so hard walking out of the last park of your trip, but MK has to be the hardest. That could never be the last park of my trip, I'd never leave the castle! At least you are going back soon!

I love MSEP, too! I mean, Spectro is amazing, but who says you can't love both? Like a wise woman once wrote, "I'm an equal opportunity parade watcher!" :rotfl: Elliott is my favorite (what's not to love about a giant electric light dragon?), but that Pete sounds pretty creepy! :scared:

The last night at Disney is sad, especially when you don't know when the next visit will be. I can't wait to hear about the adventures of your upcoming trip! :goodvibes

Oh yay, I'm glad there's another person who likes the MSEP! I get that the music is a lot different but what I don't get is why people would hate the parade just because of that! And like you said, it is the original. I enjoyed it when we saw it back in 2010 for the Summer Nighttastic (who would've thought back then it would stick around this long?). My favorite was the Tinkerbell float.

Man, that Space Mountain picture makes me want to ride it right now!

I loved MSEP. finally saw it for the first time this June. I loved Spectro too. I think I like the Spectro music better, but both parades are similar. I think its nice to switch things up.

40 min wait for space at 1am. Ughh. I would have fallen asleep in the line. I agree that the back is pretty wicked. I used to love it but now I think I'm too old to enjoy the full effect. Instead, I get a head ache. :sad2:

Another fun update!

MSEP. MY LOVE. This parade...my love for it only gets stronger every time I see it. Or read someone's TR update about it. Thank you for feeding my MSEP addiction.

HAHAHA I'm so glad someone else appreciates the creepiness that is the man-child Pete. He freaks me out SO MUCH. I wrote in my TR about his giggling too...that's just disturbing. I'm like...stop. And take off that outfit. AND GET OFF THAT DRAGON.

Noooo! I don't want your TR to be over! :sad1: I just had a mini tantrum when I realized you're almost done. Well, at least your next trip is only like ONE MONTH away!

Aww I love the Electrical Parade!!! It's so pretty and bright!

Alright, I do adore the Haunted Mansion, but I will admit I'd never want to get stuck on it!!! How spooky!!

The last night of a trip really is the saddest moment, isn't it? It sounds like you were doing what I usually do, attempting to soak in as much of the Disney magic as possible!! :wizard:

I'm with you, I love MSEP more than spectro. I mean, spectro is great and all, but it doesn't have the childhood nostalgia factor.

Oh and I dont think you are a wimp, I would be afraid to ride HM alone at night too! One solo trip I was in DHS late and decided to ride ToT, well, it turned out that I was the only person in line at the time, and I declined the opportunity to ride alone, and instead waited 5 minutes for more people to come along. I am WAY too much of a wimp to do scary things alone!

I'm sorry its your last day, and I know how sad it is to leave the MK at the end of a trip, but your next trip is right around the corner, yay!

Such a fun update! :goodvibes And just to let you know - you're not alone, I love MSEP! Spectro was very good but MSEP is near & dear to my heart so I love it more.

I can't believe your next trip is almost here!

I'm super excited to hear about all of the fun your family will have.

Thanks! Oh, good! I'm glad I'm not the only one out there hahah.

Really? Ugh, it's so freaky. I try my best NOT to look at her, hahaahah.

It was awesome! Somehow we still didn't make it out until after 1, though!

I know. :(

I can't either! It's only one month now! It's insane! I'm glad you're excited!

Great/Sad update!! I don't want you to have to go home!

Hahaha thanks, and awww. I know! But I will be HOME as in Disney in one month!!!

Thanks! I'm glad you understand hahaha.

:lmao: I know! Isn't that awesome?

Hahaha I'm a wimp though. Oh I know, I've never done Big Thunder in the dark either! I did it once when it was getting dark... does that count?

Space Mountain IS fantastical!

I know... ugh. Thankfully that's true!

Hahaha okay. Thanks, you too!

YAYAYAYAY!!!!!! I love love love the trip updates, I know I have to wait over a month, but I'll pacify with other TR's here on the Dis, right?

There's only one more now... Um... you can TRY but I don't know if they'll really do it for you. ;) Totally kidding. But my next trip officially starts one month from now... and I plan to start the next TR like the day or two after I get home! So there ya go. :)

Hahah really? I love the music but it doesn't produce tears for me. Disney has made me more emotional though, I think. Everything makes me cry. Sometimes I cry if I'm only THINKING about the Lion King. I don't know.

That would be adorable! Can I have one?

Hahah I've only been out of the country once as well (to Brazil) but I can't say I had the same experience! I actually really missed Brazil when I got home! I'm pretty patriotic(ish) the rest of the time so maybe that makes up for it...

Yes! Haha definitely.

Oh, good! I just think it's much more fun in the back. I'm not even sure why. It's cool that you have a traditional 'last ride' haah. Space Mountain was pretty unplanned but I was glad we did it!

It was June 20-25, 2010. That would be really cool! When was yours?

Oh my gosh, I can guarantee you that I will. I cannot wait! Well, I might be alarmed at first, I hope you wouldn't be offended by that, but I'm sure I'd get over it. ;)

I like MSEP because it reminds me of childhood trips with my grandparents.

I think that HM is SUPER creepy at night, I don't blame you a bit! Thank god we didn't get stuck on it, Maddie would have been scarred for life!

Space Mt. sounds like the perfect last ride!

I can't believe that your trip is almost over! I can't wait for the next TR!

Aww, that's cute!

Hahah thank you. I'm glad you agree haha. OH man... that would have been awful!

It was! I know, I really can't either, even though I've been writing this thing forever! Thanks! I'm really excited about it.

Great update! I can tolerate MSEP, but that music gets to me! Spectro's music is so much better! It's too bad MSEP is so annoying, because the floats are really beautiful! I'm ready for Spectro to be back! :cool1:

Thanks! Aww I love the music! It doesn't bother me at all.

UGH really? It's terrifying. And yes... she does stare. She stares straight into your soul. AHH DEMON.

Hahaha really?!?! Come on Brandon! :) You should totally get that bumper sticker anyway. I want the one that says 'My Other Car is a Monorail' haah.

Ugh, it is. It always has to be mine! If I was somewhere else I'd just wish I was at MK. I'm weird. I know, can't believe it!!!

I love MSEP, too! I mean, Spectro is amazing, but who says you can't love both? Like a wise woman once wrote, "I'm an equal opportunity parade watcher!" Elliott is my favorite (what's not to love about a giant electric light dragon?), but that Pete sounds pretty creepy! :scared:

Oh good! It's awesome! Hahah it's so true though. I like Elliot too! He's cool with his disappearing act. I just wish Pete would stay silent or something. I probably wouldn't mind him as much then.

It really is. I can't wait either!! Thanks!

Oh yay, I'm glad there's another person who likes the MSEP! I get that the music is a lot different but what I don't get is why people would hate the parade just because of that! Oh there definitely is! If you want to find one more, just click on therussells08 (Joni)'s TR. She LOVES it. Hahaha.

I know! I think the music is fun! I like that the whole thing is happy and carefree... not everything has to have villains coming and taking over for a while, ya know?

Oh seriously! During Summer Nightastic was my first trip! I had no idea it would still be around for my fourth. Hahaha.

Me too! I love that ride. :)

Oh good! That's awesome! I think so too. I know that some people were excited to see something different, even though I know some people miss Spectro too. I'm sure it'll be back someday!

Hahahah yeah, I won't lie, we were fading pretty fast.

Aww that's sad! I can see why you'd want to skip it... head aches are awful.

Thanks! :goodvibes

MSEP.

I knew you'd be excited. Hahah. Oh, no problem. No problem at all.

YES. He is ridiculously creepy. Like, dude, just STOP talking. You're scaring the tourists away. Why don't I remember you saying that in your TR?! :( Maybe I do remember it and I agreed. Goodness, I have no idea. This is no good. I must go back and read it again.

(By the way... just wait til you see the video. I HAVE PROOF OF THIS CREEPINESS.)

Hahaha, why thank you. I know... it's weird that I'm almost done. I only have one actual update before the wrap-up thing.

I'm way more excited for my next TR than I am about finishing this one. I mean, obviously I'm more excited about the actual trip, but you know what I mean. Hahaha.

YES, ONE MONTH! I can't believe it! (AND NINE DAYS FOR YOU!!!!)

Yes! Both of these!

Hahah yep! We're all in agreement over here.

Let's just go ride Space Mountain real quick...

Aw yay! I'm glad. Hahah I totally agree, and I like that it's just a happy parade, with no evil villains lurking.

Oh goodness, I didn't really enjoy that. It wasn't a normal 'stopping for a person with a wheelchair' stuck, either... it was REALLY stuck. Ahh, I get creeped out just thinking about it. If we'd been anywhere else but in front of the bride, I would have been fine and dandy.

It really is. I definitely was! They still made me leave though. :( Hahah.

I'm with you, I love MSEP more than spectro. I mean, spectro is great and all, but it doesn't have the childhood nostalgia factor.

Oh and I dont think you are a wimp, I would be afraid to ride HM alone at night too! I'm sorry its your last day, and I know how sad it is to leave the MK at the end of a trip, but your next trip is right around the corner, yay!

YAY! Yeah, I get that! I mean, for me it isn't childhood nostalgia, but it is the first parade I ever saw at the Magic Kingdom, so it's a different kind of nostalgia!

Oh, thank you! Hahah. That's so funny! I don't blame you... oh my gosh. Tower of Terror alone would be FREAKY. Wow. That would be different too, than being the only one in the doombuggy... the only one on the entire elevator? Nope! Can't do that! :rotfl:

Yeah! I can't believe it. At the time I had no clue I'd be going back so soon, and I can't wait!

I did enjoy MSEP, and I've never seen Spectro so I guess we''re in the same place parade-wise!

I've heard Spectro coming back, but I don't know when.

I love HM, but the fam doesn't, so I would have stuck by myself! I can't wait to see the new update queue.

Going Home! NOOOOoooooo:sad2:

I'm in, very late I know but I subbed before my last trip (memorial day) but havn't had time to read much yet. The title pulled me in b/c I get that alot in the parks. I look forward to reading more next week, it will be a great count down to my trip next weekend . I love reading trip reports to get me in the trip mode.

BTW I was 21 my first WDW trip too. The parents could never affored it I thought I never could either and went into my first trip thinking it was once in a lifetime. I've been about about 20 times since, this September marks my 10 year WDW anniversary. It's actually hard to remember a time though when I wasn't totally obsessed with WDW though.

I guess so! :rotfl:

I heard that too! I've heard a lot of different things about it... no clue if any of them are true!

OH man. That would have been awful. I would be terrified!! OH yall didn't see it yet?! You'll love it, it's great!

Hahahaha, I know right?

Hey, so glad to have you! I love getting mistaken for a CM. I feel special. hahah. Well I hope that you do get time to read it and enjoy! Wow, your trip is so soon!

Really?! Hahaha, all the cool people (are forced to) wait until they're 21. ;) Wow, almost 10 years since your first trip! How cool! It's been only two since mine. :) OH I know the feeling! I was obsessed with it long before I ever went there too!

Those late nights at the parks are so fun. I completely understand your delirium, when you're not even aware if you're standing up or swaying side to side, and you pretty much sleep walk to the nearest bus. In my mind, it's part of the Disney experience. Especially since I know there will be a day when I'm older that I can't do that anymore.

HM seems to break down a lot, and it seems like it's always in guests' least favorite spots. I've broken down twice in front of Madame Liota(spelling?) and let me tell you, by the thirtieth "Tail of a rat" you're done. :rotfl2:

I like MSEP, as well, but I haven't seen Spectormagic, either. :confused3

I love the Carousel of Progress. I know it's not a very exciting attraction but I love the fact that Walt made it.
