"You Guys Are Cast Members... Right?" - A December 2011 TR

NO WAY ORANGE??? I missed the orange mug?! Why put all the cool colors in All Star Sports?? I wonder if it would work to buy a mug there and then use it elsewhere? But I guess they have special mugs there because of the RFID chip and people would know. Rats!

Because All Star Sports is the best resort on property. Duh. Hahah I really have no clue. I mean, if you really think about it, you should be able to use your mug at whichever resort you want, considering you paid for a mug at a Disney resort either way. I'm sure there's some rule against it though. :confused3

Hahaha, busy. For my grad school funding, we have to take an Ethics of Scientists class and we now have to have ~lab notebooks~ (just in case we're ever caught up in a sticky legal situation) and my productivity has SKYROCKETED ever since I've needed to do a daily record of my work. It's just so more fun to get lost on the Internet instead of running Data File 48912 (now I usually do the two concurrently, best of both worlds)!!

Hmm... I feel like I'm not smart enough to talk to you... but really.

I feel like that costume is the one that I'm most likely to try to attempt for a MNSSHP sometime down the road. That or Wendy (because she's the best). It's just so easy (I torture myself by following some of the AMAZING Disney costume sewers on flickr. Why can't I be that awesome??)

Oh that would be SO cute as a Halloween costume! I love that outfit. I love Wendy's dress, too. Yeah, have you seen mom2rtk's work? Goodness gracious, she's phenomenal.

(one more thing, because I'm too impatient to let everything reload - I'm on highspeed internet, DisBoards, let me be fast) - YES I AGREE. I remember reading posts from people who worked in the park and spent tons of free time there and then were like 'how do I get the ~magic~ back?' A: You don't. Spend less time there, really, it'll be okay. I would love to work in one of the science-y parts (like Living with the Land, best office everrr) or, like, IT. All the Disney benefits, none of the cranky guests!

Ugh, seriously. GET WITH IT, DISBOARDS. Haha I'm not science-y in the LEAST, but I agree that the Living with the Land office would be amazing to work in. I really don't know what my ideal Disney job is, but I just know I would never want to work at the parks. Ever. I need the magic!!!! :wizard: Hahah.

Okay so, remember how in my TR I was like, hey, 5 minutes I'll be in your TR, commenting away? Well I kind of lied since it's been more like an hour or so. BUT, to be fair, I ended up running to get lunch, and then ate said lunch, got distracted by work (I call this pulling a SQUIRREL!, which I totally got from a CM during our trip, and will totally bring that up in my TR, hahaha), aaaand now I'm back.

Hahaha seriously, it's OKAY! I appreciate you commenting though!

Oh that and the DIS has been loading SO SLOW this morning/afternoon, so I'll leave it loading while I read something else and then maybe 10 minutes later it actually loads the page. :headache:

Right? It's been SO slow. Right now it's doing alright, though!

OKAY SO! Onto commenting. I'm just going to focus on your latest post, with a comment or two from previous posts, because otherwise this comment will never end. But I swear I'll be more up on commenting on future posts, because that's how I roll. :cool2:

Sounds great! Aw, thanks haha.

Number one. OH EM GEE as soon as I saw ice cream and dream resort, I KNEW you were going to Beach Club and hitting up Beaches and Cream!! This was my first stay at Beach Club and I'm not even joking, I will never stay at another resort ever again. It was UNREAL. You HAVE to stay there when you can! Maybe see if you can rent DVC points or something! It's so so amazing.

Good guess! I mean, to be honest, for a while when I was younger and I based all my Disney World knowledge off my friends' trips and the Disney Full House episode, my dream resort was the Grand Floridian. But now that I know things, BEACH CLUB ALL THE WAY! I don't blame you for not wanting to stay somewhere else! I do have a goal of staying at all the resorts at least once, but I think after I stay at Beach Club, it'll be hard to want to stay somewhere else!

Beaches and Cream is heaven.

YES. SO GOOD!

I love when people have ridiculous laughs. It always gets me going!

I LOVE IT. It was hilarious. I can't even remember how it sounded, I just know that we were all basically dying of laughter. So much fun. :goodvibes

Not gonna lie, I would've been bummed if I had just been kind of ditched in the middle of DTD. :sad1: But you totally just made the most of it by going to the best Disney store around, WoD!

Haha aw, well to be fair, I guess I worded it differently than I should have. See, when we got off the bus, we didn't really talk about anything, we just started walking. I think they probably thought I was just going with Sally, so they were like oh okay, a store, let's go in. I tend to be in my own little world sometimes, or else I would have stayed back with them and noticed!

The only problem with that place is how crazy busy it can get, and people can be very unpleasant! :headache: I would've peaced out of there, too. I think Matt and I did that a couple of times during our trip; we got overwhelmed by a crowd in a store and just booked it out.

I don't know what it was that particular night, but I just wasn't having it! I felt very overwhelmed. And everyone seemed to be very pushy that night, so I was just like... oh okay no.

That's so funny about forgetting your room number. Matt forgot ours when he called housekeeping about getting another pillow. He told them it was 457, and after he got off I said, "Um, I'm pretty sure we're in 459." He called back and told them he had the wrong room number. :lmao:

Hahah well I actually never knew the number! I hadn't been to the room yet haha. That's funny! I'm glad you realized it, or some people in room 457 would have wondered about their random pillow delivery... :rotfl:

YES on the water. We drank soooo much of it while we were there because I swear I think I sweated out like 80 pounds from the sun/heat! AND I'm jealous of your cup! If I'd seen a green one that would've been my choice. Green's my favorite color, but I settled for a light blue.

Hahah I understand. EVERY time I saw a water fountain, I filled up my bottle. At one point I had four different Dasani bottles in my park bag! Yeah, I thought it was cool (but very random) how we had the different mug choices. Originally I had my eye on a pink one, because I had forgotten that the ones at our resort would be different! I love my purple one though!

I don't care if you love or hate Stacey, BUT she is just part of the Disney experience and is very necessary to watch! I think she's cheesy as all get out but we watched her at least 10 times during our trip... even just for background noise while we were getting ready or hanging out in our room. And yes, we're both guilty of constantly quoting Stacey, even the ones that are beyond ridiculous.

Oh exactly! She is like quintessential Disney World.

Can't wait for your next day's post!! :yay:

Thanks! Should be up... haha I don't know when, but eventually! Thanks again for commenting!!! :goodvibes

Just joining in. Caught up on all your adventures. Love your enthusiastic story telling. Beach Club was always my dream resort as well. In 2008 we got a nice pin code for 40%, so I had to use it, right?!! I loved that resort! My kids had a great time at the pool. Loved everything about it. The location, being able to walk to both Epcot and the Studios, walking over to the BoardWalk for entertainment, loved entering Epcot through the International Gateway, and the smell of that resort is heavenly. It's also my only little trip report I ever did. We had a great vacation that summer, and I really wanted to share it.
Can't wait now for you to write more.

Hi! I'm so glad you're here and all caught up! Thank you!
That's so awesome that you got to stay at the Beach Club! AND with a discount? Even better! I will have to look at your TR from that summer!
Thank you so much for commenting, I appreciate it a lot. I hope you'll continue to enjoy! I'm hoping to update in the next couple of days. :goodvibes

Whewwww! I'm all caught up on everything I've missed! Life has been so busy lately- my days off have been filled with wedding things! Anywayyys!

1) I LOVE Beach Club! It is my all-time favorite resort! Mainly, because I love Epcot and it's my favorite park and being able to walk there everyday is fabulous! Plus, my last room there had a view of Spaceship Earth too! Disney room> my apt!

2) The kitchen sink looks fantastic! I've never actually been to Beaches and Cream (terrible I know!), so I'm hoping one of these days I'll get to enjoy that monster! Wonder if its possible for just two people to polish it off?

3) Hahaha, I cannot believe thats all been just one day! Y'all rock for getting so much done it one day!

4) I love that y'all were mistaken for CMs! My biggest regret from college is that one night. . .wrong story, hahaha jk. But I really wish I'd done the College Program. Working for Disney would seriously be a dream come true!

Annnyways! Can't wait to read more!!

I did it. I applied at the Disney Store and have an interview there Thursday!! So glad I just happened to make it in there today. She already spoke to me and seemed to like me. :thumbsup2

Yay! Don't even worry about it! I'm glad you're back and all caught up! Omg wedding planning. That sounds so exciting! I didn't realize until I looked at your signature that you got engaged at Disney AND you're getting married there?! Umm, my hero? :worship:

I agree! I mean, I've never even stayed there, and I'm literally obsessed. I'm gathering a ton of photos and information about it to send my parents so I can be like... AND THIS IS WHERE WE'RE STAYING NEXT TIME. JUST SO YA KNOW. :rotfl: I mean seriously. Yeah unfortunately nothing in Virginia is nearly as cool as Spaceship Earth.

2) The kitchen sink looks fantastic! I've never actually been to Beaches and Cream (terrible I know!), so I'm hoping one of these days I'll get to enjoy that monster! Wonder if its possible for just two people to polish it off?

It is GOOD. I'm sure you'll get there some day! Especially if you stay at Beach Club again! Ya know... we had five people and I don't even know if we finished half! If two people could do it, I'd be thoroughly impressed!

3) Hahaha, I cannot believe thats all been just one day! Y'all rock for getting so much done it one day!

Hahah thanks! I was proud of us that day... and the next day. ;)

4) I love that y'all were mistaken for CMs! My biggest regret from college is that one night. . .wrong story, hahaha jk. But I really wish I'd done the College Program. Working for Disney would seriously be a dream come true!

HAHAH. I know! I guess really my whole college experience happened before I even went to Disney for the first time, so by the time I knew about it, it was pretty much too late. That would have been so awesome though!

Annnyways! Can't wait to read more!!

Thanks for catching up! :goodvibes

Aww, yay! That's so great! Good luck on your interview!!!! I hope you get hired, I bet you'll be awesome. :goodvibes

Hi there! I'm joining in. :) I'm going to comment as I read all the updates so bear with me, this is gonna be long.
I can't believe you exercised the night before leaving.

I LOVE morning buns from Starbucks. So good when they heat them up!

I agree about the Price is Right, it's like they transplanted Drew's face. :rotfl: I cannot get used to him like that!

MCO = :lovestruc. I would've been tearing up on the ME bus too. Thank God for sunglasses because I hid behind mine on our recent trip too. ;) I am SO glad someone else always cries during the surprising the kids videos! It is on the planning DVD and I cry EVERY single time!

I am with you on the driving thing. I don't like to drive at Disney. It should be a rule, really. I love the monorail voice too. :lovestruc

Crying and questioning whether or not it's real life is obligatory on the first visit of the trip to MK. I'm in my 20's too and still do this. I love that you were singing in public because on our arrival night a couple of weeks ago I frolicked around the hotel singing Disney songs and my 14 year old sister was like, "Umm, you're way too old for that and people are staring." Who cares?! Not me.

The Haunted Mansion and It's A Small World sounds like a great way to kick off 4 hours in the MK. I love IASW and anything Mary Blair. Winnie the Pooh is awesome, isn't it? We rode that a ton on our trip. We got Pixie dusted too. My 3 year old daughter make the correct assumption that glitter hair = princess so she said, "I will be a princess allllll day.". It also got on her stuffed Lady so she said Lady was a doggie princess. We got back on the 28th of January and are still finding that darn glitter on everything!

I think PhilarMagic is amazing too for the same reason. Donald and my favorite movie scenes? Yes, please.

Triple whammy! I love it. Wish BTMRR would've been open in January. I did Astro Orbiters for the first time too. It goes fast!

I thought you were headed to Beaches and Cream. Love the chapter title, I take you're a Friends fan? I love it! That's so cute that your waitress thought you guys were CMs. I will so take on the sink with you one day! That was a great deal compared to each of you ordering individual sundaes!

Crowded DTD is no fun. :( I would've left too. I love that no one knew the room number! Glad everyone was paying attention that morning, haha. I totally read "I KNOW" in Monica's voice.

Whew, I am completely caught up now. I love reading your updates, we have a very similar sense of humor so you've had me dying laughing!
Can't wait to read more.

Hi there! I'm joining in. :) I'm going to comment as I read all the updates so bear with me, this is gonna be long.

Yay! Don't even worry about it, I love long comments! They're kind of a thing around here.

I can't believe you exercised the night before leaving.

I know! Hahaha I was running out of ideas and it was very clear that sleep wouldn't be happening for a while!

I LOVE morning buns from Starbucks. So good when they heat them up!

RIGHT? Those things are fantastic. I'm trying to remember what I got at Starbucks before they were introduced... :confused3

I agree about the Price is Right, it's like they transplanted Drew's face. :rotfl: I cannot get used to him like that!

Exactly! It's just odd. It looks like him but it doesn't at the same time.

MCO = :lovestruc. I would've been tearing up on the ME bus too. Thank God for sunglasses because I hid behind mine on our recent trip too. ;) I am SO glad someone else always cries during the surprising the kids videos! It is on the planning DVD and I cry EVERY single time!

Hahah sunglasses, they work wonders don't they? I can't watch those surprise videos and not cry! They're just so sweet.

I am with you on the driving thing. I don't like to drive at Disney. It should be a rule, really. I love the monorail voice too. :lovestruc

I agree. Don't they say that on the ME bus? "Just sit back, relax, and let us to the driving for you." Ya know, or something like that...
And yes. The monorail voice is just perfect. It isn't Disney until someone's telling you to stand clear of the doors (IN SPANISH). :rotfl:

Hahaha, her age says it all! She will understand when she's older! :lmao:

They definitely were! I LOVED Winnie the Pooh. Hello, childhood.
That is so cute! I'm glad she got to be a princess all day. :goodvibes
It's weird but I still find it too! Wow, you JUST got back, huh? Welcome back to real life... ughhh haha. Are you gonna do a TR?

I think PhilarMagic is amazing too for the same reason. Donald and my favorite movie scenes? Yes, please.

I agree. It's the best! It doesn't get old!

Triple whammy! I love it. Wish BTMRR would've been open in January. I did Astro Orbiters for the first time too. It goes fast!

I know, I can't believe that on top of ALL the construction at MK already, they're doing a Big Thunder refurb too! It's like, is ANYTHING open there?
I know! I didn't realize how fast it was going until the ride was going back down!

I thought you were headed to Beaches and Cream. Love the chapter title, I take you're a Friends fan? I love it! That's so cute that your waitress thought you guys were CMs. I will so take on the sink with you one day! That was a great deal compared to each of you ordering individual sundaes!

Good guess! Yeah, I am DEFINITELY a Friends fan! BEST SHOW EVER. All my chapters start with "The One..." like all the episodes! Glad you caught that! :thumbsup2
YES! Hahaha I want to do it again and actually finish it! It really is a good deal when you split it with enough people!

Crowded DTD is no fun. :( I would've left too. I love that no one knew the room number! Glad everyone was paying attention that morning, haha. I totally read "I KNOW" in Monica's voice.

Haha I know. I had an excuse because I hadn't actually been to the room yet! Hahha it's hard NOT to hear it in her voice! Thank you for understanding.

Whew, I am completely caught up now. I love reading your updates, we have a very similar sense of humor so you've had me dying laughing!
Can't wait to read more.

Thank you SO much for taking the time to read and comment on all the updates! I honestly appreciate it so much. I'm glad you're enjoying it! :goodvibes

I know, I need to get my behind going on another update! Thank you for the Chandler quote, hahaha I love it. :rotfl:

The One Where Casey Jr. Thrills Every Jack and Jill

Day 2: Thursday, December 15, 2011

So there we were: sleeping. It had been a long (and AWESOME) day, and we were all running on very little sleep. In my case, I had gotten just under three hours. So when I say we were all sleeping, I meant it. Except for, oh, no, I wasn't asleep.

Let me explain a little something about myself: I'm a bit of a freak. I have a weird sleeping issue when it comes to sharing a bed. (Good luck, future husband, if you exist.) It's not that I'm AFRAID of it or anything, but I'm just weird about it. I'm very aware of every little move or noise I make and I always like to stay in my one little area and not move or hog covers or anything. I don't know.

On top of that, I was also just so excited to be at Disney again. The novelty hadn't come close to wearing off and I was pumped about the next day. SO TIRED, but so excited.

Basically I was awake a lot more than I was asleep! I did sleep though, but in all honestly I think it was probably (again) three hours total. WHEW! At around 4:30 or so, I got up to use the bathroom. When I came back, Sally had somehow found her way across the bed and was using my pillow. :rotfl:
I was prepared for such an event. I grabbed my iPod, plopped on the floor, and listened to the Innoventions loop IN ITS ENTIRETY. I was half asleep and sitting on the floor, but I still had to dance. I can't even imagine how funny I looked. After a while I realized that Sally had moved back to her pillow, so I got about another 30 minutes of sleep, and then it was time to get up and get ready!

We were out the door a little bit before 7:15, and we headed straight to the Magic Kingdom bus stop!

I know what you're thinking. Magic Kingdom, again? There are three other parks, ya know?

Yes, we do know. BUT there was a very specific reason that we were going back to the Magic Kingdom that morning!

The sun hadn't quite come up all the way yet, and I thought the moon looked awesome (yet again).

SDC12434.jpg

SDC12236.jpg

The park was opening at 8:00 that morning for Extra Magic Hours, and thankfully a bus pulled up fairly quickly! When we got on, I was really excited because it was the first time we were on a Disney bus in the daylight, and I noticed... THIS!

SDC12238.jpg

OH HELLO.

Okay... I have to know: are any of you as obsessed with Once Upon A Time as I am? I LOVE IT. I was just hooked from the beginning. It's my newest TV addiction. I already know that some of you love it, but I want to know who else does!

Prince Charming AKA James AKA David JUST SO HAPPENS to be my favorite character. It doesn't hurt that he's super attractive at all.

Let's look at it again.

SDC12238.jpg

Anyways...

Look, Amanda and Sally were on the bus, too!

SDC12239.jpg

They got those shirts at Target on Black Friday. TARGET IS THE BEST.

It takes a little while to get from the All Stars (in the Animal Kingdom area) to Magic Kingdom, but the bus ride didn't seem to take too long! When we pulled up, we saw Casey Jr. sitting there with all the characters sitting on it! YAY!!! We knew that meant that we would get to see the opening show!

We headed to the beautiful park entrance, went through bag check, scanned our tickets, and joined the fairly large crowd of people just in time for the opening show to start!

Get this yall: NONE OF US HAD EVER SEEN THIS BEFORE. I know. I'm so ashamed. But it just means that we were THAT much more excited to be able to see it!

It's the cutest little show ever, I tell ya. The Main Street citizens were so happy to welcome us!

SDC12431.jpg

Then it was time for CASEY JR. TO COME ROUND THE TRACK!!!!

I was probably losing my mind at this point. I was shouting things and singing along and yelling "HI! I LOVE YOU ALL!" I mean, did I tell you how old I was, or did I tell you? I told you. (Remember that warning in the introduction post of this TR? :rolleyes1)

Soon enough, we were counting down! "3...2...1!"

STREAMERS! MICKEY CONFETTI! GENERAL MERRIMENT! :dance3:

We entered the park and started to head down Main Street!

SDC12435.jpg

Seeing the castle was just as exciting as it had been the day before!

SDC12590.jpg

While we were walking down Main Street, I was in the process of taking some of the most shaky video footage in the history of life. (And YES. You will get to see it! Have a barf bag handy. :thumbsup2)

The windows in the Emporium were each decorated with a scene from Mickey's Christmas Carol, which was just adorable.

SDC12436.jpg

We were heading somewhere specific... somewhere that has a view that looks like this:

SDC12437.jpg

Hmmm... I WONDER? ;)

Continued in Next Update

I have sleep issues when I sleep away from home. I swear I must wake up every hour:confused3 I think I need my own pillow and blankie!

Love the MK opening show, we've only seen it once as the other times we go in to MK early for ADRs.

MMmmmmm Crystal Palace...

Yay for another update !!!

Ugh on getting no sleep. Fortunately, I sleep really well at Disney. All of the exercising really helps. Understand how you feel about sharing a bed. Those double beds are really tough to share even with a close friend or family member. It is easier for me to share a queen and no problem with a king sized bed. My hubby works night shift 7 days out of the month though and I really enjoy having the bed all to myself sometimes. I hope you got some good rest later on in the trip.

I have never seen the rope drop show at Magic Kingdom. I always make it a "must do", but never get around to it. I hope we can see it next trip.

Looking forward to reading more.

Susan

I'm joining in and really enjoying hearing all about your trip:goodvibes

Unfortunately I don't get that much time to post anymore due to classes being extremely busy this semester, but I have been really enjoying reading your TR and thought I would take a quick moment to tell you so.

I'm looking forward to reading more!!

First things first.....I am completely in love with Once Upon a Time! That show is sooo great!

Sorry you didn't get more sleep....hope it didn't affect your touring the next day. I love the Rope Drop show at MK...it really is magical. On our trip this past May, we went to MK on our last park day & got there for the Rope Drop show. During the countdown, a CM walked up to us & sprinkled our little boy with a handful of confetti.....it was so fun & cute! :goodvibes

Hmmmm.....were y'all going to have breakfast with some friends from 100 Acre Woods? :confused3

Okay, sooo excited you updated!

That is a bummer about the bed situation. It's never fun not being able to get settled or like, feel comfortable when it comes to sleep, especially in Disney World where sleep is like, necessary so you don't fall apart. But I have to say I definitely laughed at the thought of you sitting up listening to Innoventions on the floor. You do some pretty amazing things when you can't sleep.

There's nothing wrong with showing MK a little extra love... And I had a feeling I knew why you guys were headed there. ;)

Okay I evidently need to watch this Once Upon a Time show because some other people were talking about it in my TR, since I'm a big LOST fan. That guy does look dreamy. :cloud9:

LOVE their shirts! Matt got a very similar one at Target that was just Mickey in a Santa hat and it's super cute. I <3 Target.

We've never seen the RD show either at MK. :rolleyes1 It's just too early for us when we're on vacation and like getting to sleep in til 8. But I have a good feeling when we have kids and take them to Disney, we'll definitely be seeing it.

I love all the Christmas decorations! Maybe one year we'll go around then, though I just love Christmas time at home so I feel like I'd be a little sad to be missing part of it... That and I like going in January to help combat my post-Christmas blues.

I know where you guys went, and I can't wait to see your photos because it's one of our absolute favorites! I just love Eeyore and Pooh and Piglet and Tigger so much!

Great update, can't wait to read more!

I LOVE Once Upon A Time. I love pretty much everything about the show. I wish I could be the evil queen without the whole evil part. She is gorgeous and has the most amazing wardrobe.
