I know I have heard the saying that you don't understand the value of a second (or less) until you have a car accident but that is SO true.

This morning on my way to work I was just driving along and singing to the radio when this HUGE (and I do mean HUGE) owl came swooping down and hit the side of my car and demolished my driver's side mirror! :earseek: It was terrifying! After I pulled off the road to get my breath I realized that just the tiniest fraction of a second earlier and it would have come through the front window and just the tinest fraction of a second later and it would have come through the drivers side window! I can only imagine the damage that owl could have done to both me and my car.

I am still so shaken up! I am about burst into tears because I realize how lucky I was to just have a broken side mirror. My thoughts immediately turned to my DS who I had just left at home with DH because he is sick....It is so scary to think that I could have really been hurt.

I really feel that God must have been watching out for me this morning. I guess I really needed a wake-up call and this was His way of telling me to start appreciating what I have because you never know when it could be taken away.

Breathe, breathe, I am glad you are safe. And you are so right. {{{hugs}}}

{{{HUGS}}} for you Becka! That must have been so scary! I'm glad that you're okay though.

The value of a second has been reinforced many times for me since I became a mom.

{{hugs}} I'm glad you're ok.:)

I'm so glad you weren't hurt! Give that sweet baby and extra hug & kiss when you get home!

{{{hugs}}} for you Becka. I'm glad you weren't hurt.

Oh my goodness! I am so glad you are ok!! Life is so precious and things like this really makes us realize it!

Is anyone else feeling bad for the owl? ;)

Seriously, I'm glad you are ok. Just keep taking deep breaths.

Peggy

I felt sorry for the owl for about a second but then I realized that he is costing me $250 when I am trying to save for a WDW trip!!!

{{{{Hugs}}}} Becka. I'm glad you're okay. :) You never know what's going to happen from one day to the next.

Oh, and I feel sorry for the owl too. ;)

I'm glad you're okay! I think that that type of accident is the most unsettling because it makes you realize that even if you're as careful as possible, bad things can happen sometimes. {{{Hugs}}}

Oh Becka!!

Im sorry you were scared! Im sure it was absolutely frightening!!!

Thank God You werent hurt!

LOL! I'm thinking that owl is still flying around teaching others the value of life.:)

Not sure whether the owl would crash through a closed window, except I did hear a news clip some years ago where a raccoon fell from the top of a garbage truck and through someone's windshield. Didn't say what speeds each vehicle was going at, which would greatly influence what happened.

Saw this "America's Funniest Home Videos" clip where someone was holding and playing with a hamster out in the back yard and a hawk came swooping down and snatched it.

YIKES, Becka. Very scary. I'm so glad you weren't injured. Poor owl, though :(

Becka - I've been exactly where you are! In my case it wasn't an owl that narrowly missed my windshield and took off my drivers side mirror - I dowel flew off of the roof of a painter's van. I had to pull over and say a prayer (and shed a couple tears) too.

By the way - make sure you only pay the deductible on your COMPREHENSIVE coverage. An animal/flying object claim does not fall under collision coverage. Sometimes that has a lower deductible.

Glad you are okay!

Glad to hear your fine. You're right, it makes you realize how important seconds are. We had a bus accident about 2 yrs ago with a bus of Band students coming back from band competion hit a guard railing and going over and falling 60 FT, killing 3 students, a parent, and one boy with tramatic brain injury. And in small town, it really hits you hard. I'll tell you what, it really makes you stop and decide what is really important in your life! (And money and power isn't it) So everyone, give your kids and SO a hug because you just never know.I had a email once about "If I only Knew" but I think I deleted it, if I do find it, I'll post it, makes you really think about your life.:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc
