So, apparently some people who lived here about 7 or 8 years ago decided when they moved out, that they didn't have space for this where they were going. At any rate, I've lived her now for 4 years or so, and always rather wondered why this was in the garage.

Oh - we live in a two family house with a large 3 car garage. This was in the back of the garage for as long as I've lived here. Well, finally asked the landlord what the deal was with it and he says "you want it? Take it. I don't know if it's any good now though, but you want it, it's yours"

Um. Yes, I want it. It's gorgeous. It doesn't match my woodwork, but that's a minor issue to me. It matches my dining room table perfectly. It has a few minor scrapes that need to be fixed, and it needs to be re-stained in some places, but honestly, it's nothing that a day or so of working on it won't fix. For the most part, it's in great shape. I have no idea how old it is, but I know I've seen things like it in furniture stores and they cost a lot.

So today, my SO and his friend dug it out of the garage, we cleaned it up and brought it in. And here it is.

   It sure beats the plastic drawers we had in that corner before. Now I'm thinking hmmm...change the woodwork, and the paint on the walls.......we'll see...for now I'm just thrilled to have this cabinet.

Happy day!

Wow! That's gorgeous!

And I see one of your pups in the lower left-hand corner checking out how much trouble he and bro can get into with this new thing! :goodvibes

It's beautiful, I can't imagine how someone would just leave it behind.

Thanks.

I don't know how i feel about the blue walls. The walls were blue when we moved in, but I've seen pictures of the room before when it had sort of off white walls....I don't know.

But changing the walls is a huge project. So we'll see if we ever get around to doing that. :)

That is pretty. You could put your good china in there.
That's my plan. And we have these nice crystal wine glasses too. :goodvibes I'm psyched to finally have a nice place to keep these things. :cool1:

Love it!! Why does the wood have to match? I love antiques and the wood never matches but somehow it comes together :goodvibes

It's beautiful. I'm not a decorator--but when we were browsing at Ethan Allen--they told us the wood doesn't have to match :).

You did good :)

(Just wish I could afford some non-matching wood at Ethan Allen ;).

Is that a Yankee Candle I see? :teeth: It is beautiful and what a great find for you! :)

Hey! We got something today for free too!
My dh saw it beside the road with some other stuff and went and knocked on the door. The guy said, "Yep, take it, it's yours if you want it."
It's oak! The stain is a bit dark for me- but it was FREE! Has some dings, but it's old and that adds character. We stuck it next to the stairs for now... haven't decided where we want to put it. You can see the reflection of the french doors in the mirror....

It's beautiful, and the right price, too.

It's a good fit for the space.

Cathy

E, Love your find too!!!!

Wow, I want some pretty, free furniture!!!!!
Really nice stuff!

How lucky for you, Sheri. That hutch is gorgeous.

Very nice hutch, that will be fun to fill up.

Mermaid02 - also a nice find. Did a double take at your pic though, the stair area is almost identical to my late MIL's home, had to look at and see where you were from.

We just brought home a cabinet that is probably 6 foot tall, and not very wide. I need to find a place for it soon, it has been in the garage for 2 weeks now. It was the one piece of furniture that DH took from his mom's before it was sold, I have no clue where to put it...
