How much per day do you budget for food per person? All meals, snacks&drinks all day.Kids and Adults may be separate

We try to stay on a budget but with so many dining choices:cloud9: we just aim for one.Kids are easy til their teens then it's hard to figure what they'll like.

Well, it really depends on the age of the kids. I.E. a four year old and a nine year old don't eat the same amount -- or at least mine never did.

Also, it depends on what you are willing to eat and where you are willing to go. Do you only want to eat in the parks? Are you willing to drive off site (i.e. like a McDonalds, etc.)? Do you only want counter service or do you want to do at least one sit down meal a day? Are you bringing any food to keep in your hotel room?

:) As you can see there are so many variations that it is hard to answer your question without some type of parameters.

I just wanted to know what others spend.Whether they go offsite or not really never entered my mind except the last question:)We budget the about the same whether we eat park, resort or offsite.Of course we'll spend more on a Holiday trip Vs. a day trip.

A lot of people may not even know that there's a way to travel differently unless they read about it.

Poll allows multiple answers as well.

Got it! I though you were asking so you could determine how much you personally needed to budget. :)

Anyways, for this trip we are doing the deluxe dining plan so our budget is the cost of the plan -- i.e. $71.99 per adult and $20.99 per child plus an extra $40 per day for tips. So our daily food budget for two adults and two children (including the tip budget) is $185.96.

Previously when we have traveled we need to do the trip much more on a budget. When doing that we tried to eat off site when possible (i.e. breakfast at a pancake house or Denny's type of restaurant or a late dinner at Pizza Hut or something similar) and only have one meal a day in the park. Usually we would only eat two meals a day. In this instance we were able to eat for a lot less - around $30 per adult and $15 per child -- or around $100 per day for everything.

Of course we could do it even cheaper by eating breakfast in the hotel -- oatmeal, fruit, etc.

Well, to be honest, I think your numbers are too broad. I don't spend nearly $50 per adult on an average day since we don't eat TS most days. For kids, a range in smaller increments might have been better suited to this. I figure $15/meal for lunch and dinner -both QS/CS per adult. Sometimes over, sometimes under. My DD-8 won't hit $20 even with snacks and drinks.

If I figured days where we eat TS, I figure an average of $35/adult for the TS and $15/QS, so we'd be right at the $50 mark. We can't manage 3 remotely large meals per day, so on days where we eat a QS or TS breakfast, we'd have snacks for lunch and eat an earlier QS or TS dinner.

We don't skimp on food, we're not necessarily light eaters in my opinion either, we just eat when we are hungry and only as much (snack or 3 course meal) as we want at the time. For my family, being full makes us unwilling to go on rides or walk very far ;)

In the end, reviewing our slips (every bit of food charged to the room), we come in at just under $100/day for my family of 4-- 2 adults, 1 - 14 YO and an 8 YO. This is an average of 10 days with one TS/buffet 7 of the 10.

Under $50 for me. Me and my boyfriend normally do one counter service and one table service per day. Breakfast is always a granola bar or something similar and a carton of soymilk that we brought from home. At table service meals, we rarely order anything other than an entree. I normally drink water, unless there's some type of specialty drink in a collector's cup that I want.

I don't do the DDP or budget for food. I eat what I like and when I'm hungry and whatever it adds up to, so be it!

We do the deluxe plan, so we know we're spending 71.99 per adult and 20.99 per child plus tips. Tips will add about $15 per person, and alcohol will add another $10-15 each for DH & I. So we're estimating just over $100 for DH & I, about $90 per night for my mom who doesn't drink and my DS11, and around $35 per night for DD7.

We will be there 7 nights...we will be on the Dining Plan...The dining plan is costing 4 adults $1119.72 (plus my turning 3 year old who will share with us)

We will bring some bottled water and breakfast/snack items for the room $49

One meal will not be on the plan (T-Rex), plus any extras, plus tips at all TS meals $330

So for 7 days we are budgeting $1498.72 :scared1:

that is about $53/day/adult

and I plan that we will also comfortably be able to feed my turning 3 year old with that.

+1 :) We probably spend around $100 per adult per day during our trips. A few of those $12 Lapu-Lapus at the Poly can hike the total pretty fast:earsboy:

I don't believe in budgets- they're too restricting :-)

I don't use the word 'budget' properly in the sense of limiting myself. I tend to use it simply knowing approximately what things will cost us. If I'm honest with myself, we always come out just about right with no limits or restrictions. So when I tell people I 'budget' a certain amount, it's more like an educated guess at what the final damage will be ! :thumbsup2

Just depends on the trip. When my husband and I took an anniversary trip by ourselves, we ate a couple of TS meals, breakfast at the food court every day, snacks, desserts and everything. I think we spent about $250 in 2 1/2 days.

Our last 2 family trips have been with Free Dining and we spent around $100 in tips last year, plus maybe $50 on food for our toddler, who didn't get the DDP.

On our upcoming trip, it's a fairly-quicky, only 5 nights, with 2 other families. We may eat one TS meal in 4 (park) days, other than that it'll be CS. I've figured on about $400 for 4 days for 4 of us (I'll add more if we book a TS). I always take breakfast stuff for our room so 2 CS meals for 4 ought to run less than $80 per day, plus a few snacks here and there. In the poll, I voted under $50 per adult and under $50 per child.

The answer to this question varies greatly depending on your family's dining habits, i.e., eating 3 TS meals, 3 CS meals, 1 CS meal and 1 TS meal, etc. etc. etc. I personally would budget $50-100 per day for adults and $50'ish per day for children.

We budget roughly $35/adult/day. We usually eat breakfast stuff that we brought from home in the room (and the cost of the groceries are not included in the $35), then a TS lunch, and a CS dinner. Some days we eat CS for both lunch and dinner.

We're not super big eaters, and we share entrees fairly frequently. Otherwise, this budget would be too small.

Wow,we have a very wide view so far.Thanx.

I could not imagine no budget constraints nor could I eat for under $50 a day anywhere.CS at a BBQ joint costs me $20 just for lunch by the time I'm done.

We have saved quite a bit by learning here and a few other sites. We learned that the DPs would not work for us but the Dining card was a must along with pre-fixe menus at places I would normally not spend the $ on.At the other parks the upgraded passes pay for themselves in food discounts alone not to mention parking,t-shirts etc..

For my upcoming trip, I plan on spending about 50-100 per day per person depending on what kind of restaurant we do for lunch.

You just described my family of three adults! We've done Chef Mickey's the last 3 years, and other than that and last year's Le Cellier ADR day, we spend about $25-$30 per person on food per day, if not less than that. Just not big eaters, so we share meals, rarely order an appetizer or dessert, etc. We eat breakfast (pastries, cereal, etc. that we brought from home) in the room probably 7 times out of 9, so that cuts down on cost too.

This is the way I took the question as well. Educated guess on $$ for food. DW & I enjoy a lot of the signature restaurants - i.e. in our upcoming summer trip we have ADRs for Narcoossee's, CG, Arist Point, and Jiko - and when we aren't doing those, we still go to places like Le Cellier, Kona, the Wave, Il Mulino, etc. We have the DDE card, so the 20% off food and drink helps, but we still are in the high end of the 50-100 or lower end of the 100-150 range. Enjoying these places is a big part of our vacation fun so we don't mind spending our extra dollars on this food. And, as one of the other posters said - Lapu Lapu!!!!!! Those rack up the bill fast!
