You Better Start Believing in Success Stories, You're in One! Nov. W.I.S.H Challenge

Pirates was Walt's last project in a long line of great accomplishments in his life. Do you have any great accomplishments that you are working towards? A while back the big thing was bucket lists, do you have one? and if so would you mind sharing somethings on it? Is where you are at in your lifestyle change affecting those things for better or worse?

My big goal for the year was to achieve running 15 half marathons through Rock n Roll to earn that Hall of Fame medal. On November 13, I will earn that medal as I run my 16th half marathon of the year. :woohoo:

It's hard to believe that a year ago I was sitting in this exact spot contemplating how I would do it and my first time was around 3:40. I hated my first half and I just saw this long road ahead to get to this point, if I was going to even continue at all. Now here I am about 10 days out from meeting this goal and I see myself at 2:53 for a half marathon and comfortably running my race. I've grown so much this year in confidence and strength that it was one of the best goals I could set for myself. Next year: it's all about speed. I will get that darn 2:44:59 to get placed in the speedy corrals at runDisney. :thumbsup2

Bucket lists, Oh Yes! My number one item on my bucket list? I want to sleep in one of those Ice Hotels. :confused3 I think watching those Bond movies as a kid inspired me to want to do it!

Hi from sunny Orlando
Goal for the end of the month would be to reach 59kg and get back to the gym starting with yoga. I should be 1 or 2 lbs (max 3) from it

I won't weigh myself until 10th so I will know what the situation is then

26000 steps a day average while at wdw. Calorie counting bit patchy but I have a feeling there won't be much damage

I was able to see so many of my own goals through yours but I don't quite have the courage to say mine... I need a big change in almost every aspect of life... I guess I should say, my goal is to announce a successful result by Christmas! Good luck guys - I mean, aarghh, may the winds fill your sails!

You are amazing! I'm sure you are going to crush that PR next year. And I have to say when you dream you dream big. When you get to that Ice Hotel we need lots of pictures!

Hi from sunny Orlando
That is such a great picture!

Aye we be happy to have ye aboard! This is a very motivating group for sure. Stick with us and I am sure you will be successful :)

I'm in -
Goals are: Tracking all food, 5 days of exercise (10K steps per day). I've fallen off the wagon a bit by letting snacks creep into the picture - will aim to get back to protein, veggies, fruit and cut out the junk.
Glad to have ye aboard as well, lassie. We all fall off the wagon every now and then, the important thing is that you are getting back on!

Well the Cubs won. It has made this very tiring morning a little bit harder. It was a great game. Cubs have gone 100 and some years without winning so I am exited for them. Cleveland knows how that feels. Now to get through today on very little sleep. I see a lot of caffeine in my future.

We have a busy night tonight so we won't be in better super early like I would hope. My daughter has her school program tonight. It should be really cute. It is all 50 songs and they have to dress up like "senior citizens". Not the easiest costume to put together but we found one. I even bought silver hair spray to color her hair.

pirate: Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.
We pillage plunder, we rifle and loot.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.
We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot.
Drink up me 'earties, yo ho. pirate:

This sea shanty has become one of the world's most famous pirate songs. It's colorful lyrics outline what pirates like to do best: drink, steal and burn things to the ground! It was originally written for the Pirate's ride but since then has been covered many times. In the opening scene of The Curse of the Black Pearl a young Elizabeth Swann can be heard singing it from the bow of a ship. The perfect way to tie the movie to the ride right from the beginning.

Today's Question: How do you use music in your day? Do you find listening to music motivating? Or maybe relaxing?

And one for fun: Do you have a guilty pleasure song that you like to play when no one is around? Care to share what it is?

I find music very motivating and use it for running. I don't think I would still be a runner if I didn't have my music. It helps me calm my wandering mind.

My gulity pleasure song is Break the Ice by Britney Spears. I don't know why but when I hear that song I feel like I could run for days.

Music is definitely important for me. I love listening while I run, while at work, cooking dinner, anytime I'm by myself I like to have something playing. For the half marathon a couple weeks ago I had my wife and both kids pick out a song and add it to my playlist without me knowing which song they picked. It was pretty cool when they came on during the run - I knew instantly who picked what song and it was motivating for me.

I go through phases and I listen to a lot of different stuff (no heavy metal and not a lot of country). Right now I'm going through a little Drake phase - really like the "Views" album. Apple Music has been huge for me because I can listen and download so much stuff that I normally wouldn't have spent money on.

Guilty pleasures - I got a ton of them. I'll listen to some Bee Gees, Boy Bands, Barry Manilow, anything 80's, Anita Baker... it's really a crazy list. If I had to pick one song, I'll go with Freedom! 90 by George Michael. When that song comes on while running my pace definitely picks up.

How, very timely -again!

Normally I only listen to music in the car and on my phone when I'm walking. On the Texas tour there were only two times where music was involved: when we had dinner at The Starlight Theater in Terlingua there was a live performance going on that really added to the evening and then in San Antonio the music with the Cathedral projection show on the history of the city was really good. This got me to thinking about how important music is and how I don't have enough of it in my life. Last night I was thinking about Thanksgiving prep and how I should put together a play list for background music, then I thought I should turn off the TV unless I'm specifically watching something, and listen to music instead. I have a really nice Bose sound machine that works with my phone, but I rarely use it.

Guilty pleasure... well... I'm already listening to Christmas carols on my phone (OK, I did wait till after Halloween) and I'm currently addicted to my Brian Setzer Orchestra album... it's playing right now. Totally jazzy and upbeat so good to walk to and a chirpy way to start the day.

This is such an awesome question! Overall I want to get under 200lbs - it's been years and years since I was and I even had bariatric surgery a few years ago and still didn't make it down there. I'm close but it's a matter of getting the energy to pushpushpush. I definitely need to get better about eating habits and staying active which is very hard when you're tired from a full day at work and still have homework to do. Plus, our dogs are terrible on walks so it's basically my husband and I getting the energy to get up and go! I really want to do the Glass Slipper Challenge someday so I'm trying to use that to motivate...I do have some issues with my feet killing me a few minutes into the walk/run but I'm hoping with weight loss that'll go away :)

Overall I want to get back to living in Florida and working at Disney. I had to quit when I worked there a number of years ago because of some awesome life choices (ahh, to be 19 again) and it's one of my biggest regrets. Especially since next year would have been my 10 year anniversary! :( We recently bought a house and Andrew is in line for a promotion which are basically prohibiting us from moving to Florida this year like we'd originally planned, but it does give us a chance to have some roots for at least a few years and get ready for that big of a move. The problem is I still have to wait even though I know it's a good thing!!

Aside from those two things it's mostly just travel, travel, travel! :moped:

Love the question today! Because I LOVE music!

I'm a little different in that I am a HUGE fan of Broadway and show tunes. But it comes in phases. I will play a show on repeat for months, then I'm over the binge and move on to a different show. I am currently binge listening to Hamilton (along with everyone else in the theater community right now probably haha)! I guess music in general is more nostalgic for me than anything else. Certain music-- basically what I was currently binge listening to at a certain point in my life--can come on and take me right back to particular memories or feelings from life and places I've been. But due to the nature of Hamilton, I do find it motivates me so I put it on when cleaning up!

However, I do sometimes listen to pop stations in the car (when I'm bored with my podcasts) and find I like some Taylor Swift, Sia, and Selena Gomez (I feel like I'm fulfilling some sort of stereotype here :rotfl2:). Anyway, those are the types of songs I like to listen to when I need a little push to get me through my work outs.

Guilty pleasure: Cher! Don't judge LOL!
