You asked for it. What do you absolutely hate about CSR?

I'll say the same thing as I did w/ the CBR post. Hate is a strong word.

I will say that the CM, were not quite as friendly as in other resorts, but nothing really rude.

The Pepper market was not all that great, and the gift shop, not quite as nice as others.

I would stay here, before going back to CBR though.

We loved CSR, just stayed there this past spring. We thought our mousekeeping service was great. I will say that even though we liked the food at Pepper Market, the CM's were not very concerned about providing good customer service. But other than that, we had no complaints. Will definitely stay there again!

Getting a snack, use the take out cards so you don't get charged the 10%.

Walks to the ranchos or other villages have been eliminated because CSR has implemented an internal shuttle system that drops you off at your building.

Convention resort - GF, Cont, BW, Y & B Club are also convention resorts but it seems that CSR is the only one that ever gets acknowledge for it.

LOL... see... that's what makes the world go round... everyone likes different things!

I don't want to have to bother with using a take out card, and if I stay somewhere else, I don't have to!

Waiting for a shuttle isn't something I'd want to take the time to do... by the time I deal with the shuttle, I could be where I want to go. I didn't say I couldn't walk, just that this is one of the things *I* don't like about this resort (this thread IS about things we don't like about CSR, right???)

I never said it was the only convention hotel, but IMHO (and I acknowledge that it's the way I see it... others see it differently), the conventions are much more noticeable here - partially because of where the convention rooms are situated in the complex.

Personally, I hope everyone chooses to stay at CSR... that means I'll be able to find a room where I prefer to stay ;). I never stated that I wouldn't stay at CSR, but I wouldn't choose it intentionally either.

The thin walls...we heard our neighbors talking very clearly. The room decor...the layout..the bus stop location ( I didn't think it was safe to walk across a parkinglot to access the bus stop)..that awlful Pepper Market..the long walk to the pool..

In short just not our cup of tea. We tried it for a week and are glad we did to cross it off our list. We are trying all of the resorts and will finish them all with our November trip. We actually like Pop much better. Although there is a tie between the Grand and the Yacht as our favorites. For moderate Caribbean Beach gets our vote!

We really enjoyed it. The only complaints that I had were the sheets weren't changed one day and our refrigerator didn't work, so they brought another one and left it in the middle of the room for 2 days. Other than that we liked the whole resort.

My maid service story is that they gave us the room before the maid was done. Instead of replacing the glasses she "rinsed" them in the sink. WHen I told her that was not acceptable she said that she was "out of clean glasses and that would have to do" I called and got new glasses! (I also had a horrid time there with an out of order phone and a clueless front desk!)

I also don't really Pepper Market. I don't like that they "seat" you. I am alone and really don't want to sit in grand central station. They refused to move me to a more isolated table so I walked.

Just making others aware of the options. I hope you find your room elsewhere. :flower:

We love everything about CSR!
Love the theming and grounds-our favorite section is Casitas but Ranchos are great too. For those you feel CSR has a desert type theme, you dont have stay there. Thats the beauty of WDW! I for one feel that the grounds are beautiful from lush foliage and fountains in Casitas, to the desert and rocky Ranchos to the beaches along the Cabanas. :)
The Pepper Market is the best food court on property-I am sorry but the other moderate food courts are horrible. PM is much fresher with more choices. If you dont want to pay the extra for drink service, dont, you can do it to go and eat by the lake as we often do.
The buses are great at CSR. On past trips to All stars and CBR, we waited forever for buses and usually had to stand b/c they were filled. CSR (maybe due to conventioners not taking up buses??) are less crowded and we found on our last 2 stays, more frequent.
Lastly, we never notice conventions occuring or conventioners. And if that means more space at the pool and on buses well then Yippee!
That being said, we love CSR and plan to stay there again next year!

The only complaints that I had were the sheets weren't changed one day

Do they change the sheets everyday :confused3 I was under the impression hotels only change their sheets either 3-4 days or when changing the room over, there is NO way, they can clean all those sheets everyday!!!!

Also - I too agree with what works for others may not work for you. I can understand how people may not like a Mexican/Southwest theme but I have found memories of trips to Mexican beaches, Myan Ruins, Red Rock Canyon etc... so I really like that theme. For me, CBR and POR don't do it for me but I do like POFQ since DH and I met in New Orleans

So far - there aren't any negatives that would really change my mind. I love the idea of being seated, having my drinks filled and having food freshly made for me. I will gladly pay the extra 10% (although I won't with free dining :sunny: ) I also see the conventioners are a huge positive, freeing up space at the pools, buses etc... I don't mind if half the resort walked around in suits. To me, this is much more positive then having tons of unsupervised kids taking over a 1 pool resort. As much I love the Poly, both pools were always crazy, so many kids you only had space to tread water and hope not to get splashed :rotfl: I love kids but sometimes it is nice to have some R&R and I think CSR will allow us that with a spread out foorplan and lots of pools. I can't wait to give a report after we go. I am sure I will have a few complaints but if they are as minor as what is posted here so far - then I will be HAPPY!!! :Pinkbounc

I hope nothing. We just booked CSR today for 12/11 to 12/17! We have stayed at ASMu and POP in the past. We were looking for something a little more adult. I think we found our perfect hotel. :wizard: Maggie

I guess maybe they don't change the sheets everyday. I have no clue. We just noticed one day that they definitely weren't changed as there were crumbs in the bed. We stayed for 8 nights, so I guess the sheets weren't changed every day. Does anybody know how often they are changed?

I have never stayed at CSR, but I know I will be *very* grumpy if I get stuck in the desert "Ranchos" section. *blech* I would rather be at *any* resort than one that reminded me of the horrible one at Disneyland Paris called the "Santa Fe". Who wants to stay in a desert anyay? *gack* It looks like a bunch of pueblo colored concrete and sand to me.

I also heard it can be a bit of a walk to the food court and the main pool.

We have reservations at CSR on our next trip :).

HeeHee!!! :earseek: Just goes to show you, everyone has different opinions regarding what is interesting!!! We are going to REQUEST the Rancho section in August. To me, it looks way more interesting than the other two sections!!! Getting to the main bldg will not be a problem with the way the bus service runs and the newly added internal transportation!!! Can't WAIT to stay in the Rancho section!!! :cool1:

Disney does not change sheets on a daily basis. They normally change them every 4-5 days.

The resort is beatiful. We could see fireworks from MK and from Epcot from right outside our room. At night, when the resort was all lit up it was breathtaking. I hated Pepper Market. DH had to sit with the kids while I waited for all the food to be made. Then we never had our drinks refilled. I don't mind tipping ( I waited tables for ten years ). But I brought the food and I sat with an empty drink for 1/2 my meal. Then I had to pay 10% for it.

I will go back to CSR but I won't go back to Pepper Market.

I don't hate CSR. Let's just say it is not the place I would go out of my way to stay at again. Warning this will be long.

We'll start with the CM who barely spoke let alone understood the English language. He didn't understand the word No, as no we don't have a car. He asked three times and I still don't think he understood. It took him 5 minutes (literally) in slow motion to fold a parking pass for a car we didn't have! It's funny now; but it sure wasn't at the time.

Next he gave us bad advise on how to get to the rooms. Having stayed at CBR and CSR was suppose to be smaller we opted to take our own luggage to the room. He showed us on the map how to get to our rooms. Talk about the scenic route! The longest possible way to get there.

Ranchos 6 A was the pits! The room was done in yucky brown tones. Little color beyond the muddy, dirty looking shades of brown. It didn't help that they decided to rip up the sidewalks in front of room while we were there, either. I was hoping for bright colors and a cheery room. This did not fit with what we were hoping for at all.

Waiting for over an hour at the Pepper Market for a couple of burgers at 8:30 at night with half the tables being empty. This was not accepatable, either. Service was non exisitent there. No one came to any of the tables near us to get anyone's drinks. I knew about the 10% ahead of time; but to have to pay it for just being shown to your table is just not right. Tried to avoid the PM after that or got it to go if there was a table open outside.

The walls are really very paper thin. We could hear our neighbors whisper to their kids to be quiet. We heard it all. So much for wanting a romantic get away without DD! That just killed the mood for me and DH. Disappointing as maybe we could have brought home a little Disney soveneir! ;)

Problems with the fridge and the Mousekeeping was bad. One actually told me "I don't work too hard!" Trust me it showed! It also reflecting in my tipping or lack of tipping for poor service.

The internal shuttle drivers and other cart drivers were reckless. We had to jump into the grass to avoid being run over more times than I care to remember. The sidewalks were to narrow for people to walk on the paths if there was a shuttle coming. No shuttle stop at our building. It was one or two buildings over. Why bother!

Bus service at least that week was horrid! Our average wait time was 30. One day we waited over an hour to get a bus from DTD back to the resort.
We almost missed our dinner reservation in Epcot even though we had allowed 2 hours to get there that day. This from a resort that only has 4 bus stops unlike CBR and doesn't share with any other resort!

The pool was nicer than the other moderates and the grounds were beautifully landscaped. It just didnt make up for all the other things that went wrong IMHO.

I was really disappointed; but I guess maybe my expectations were set at an unrealistic level. Though I don't expect to listen to someone busting up concrete to fix the sidewalk; I know it has to be done sometime. Just my luck it happened when I was there.

Maybe it was an off week; but I am not sure I want to go back and find out! :confused3

This was the problem we had and it made things take way too long. We did well for breakfast, I guess since most of the food was already prepared it didn't take too long, but we probably won't go back to PM until the kids can come help get their own food. I didn't realize that the servers were supposed to refill your drinks. No one ever refilled ours the three times we ate there and we always did it ourselves.

We really loved the resort. I just wish those shuttles were for everyone to get around all day long.

In Mexico we stay at the Moon Palace and they purposely drive carts to pick you up and take you anywhere on the resort. That's what I'd like to see there.

As for the sheets, the mousekeeper at Music two weeks agao told us they wash them after you leave and put fresh on for the next people.

Add us to the list of people who are NOT fans of the Pepper Market. The food selection was very disappointing.

I agree with a previous poster who said the signs were confusing at best. It took us quite a while to figure out where the heck our room was. I really hated that. Disney really should put better signs at that resort.

I also found the rooms to be dark. Just a personal preference, but I am partial to rooms done is bright, cheery colors.

Can't say that I hated CSR, but I definitely left the resort thinking "we should have booked CBR instead".

They are for everyone to get around. CSR has recently started the internal shuttle system and have carts that are designated to bring guests to and from their village to the main building.
