You asked for it. What do you absolutely hate about CSR?

It is my other consideration with CBR. I have read lots of positives and some negatives but I really want to know why you didn't like CSR.

Lousy maid service, confusing layout and "desert theme" It's already hot in Florida! LOL!

I wouldn't qualify it as "absolutely hate," but the cast members at Pepper Market weren't real friendly.

I have never stayed at CSR, but I know I will be *very* grumpy if I get stuck in the desert "Ranchos" section. *blech* I would rather be at *any* resort than one that reminded me of the horrible one at Disneyland Paris called the "Santa Fe". Who wants to stay in a desert anyay? *gack* It looks like a bunch of pueblo colored concrete and sand to me.

I also heard it can be a bit of a walk to the food court and the main pool.

We have reservations at CSR on our next trip :).

We have ressies there in Oct so I am curious what others post...

After researching all the ins and outs, I think my only negative thought is the rooms but this is only from looking at pics, not first hand. I think the interior rooms aren't as nice as the other mods. Only one sink, no bench or peg holder/mirror that all the other mods have. Also the room furniture looks (from the pics) cheap. I am not into Santa Fe furniture. That said, I love the exterior theming, the fountains, cactus, lake, dig site etc... I figured we would be outside more then inside. POFQ rooms look wonderful and more upscale but the exterior just seems too simple so we chose CSR. If I can live with paying $400 a night at the Poly for tacky interior room theming but wonderful exterior theming then I can stay here too!!

The only real thing that bothered me was I kept getting the Casitas! My 1st two solo trips I was placed in Casitas and that was fine. Third solo trip, I really wanted a new area. At check-in, I begged for anything but Casitas. Guess what room the CM tries to give me - of course a room in the Casitas. I begged and begged for the Ranchos, since I figured they are so far from everything that no one really requests them so there should be plenty of rooms. Finally the CM fiddled around the computer and got me a ground floor room in Ranchos with a landscaping/cacti view. The room was wonderful, clean, and I loved everything about it! :teeth:

Besides the Casitas thing, I really enjoy Coronado! :)

I hate that the rooms aren't $5 per night with a multiple night discount. :rotfl:

Then I could go back sooner! :Pinkbounc

Since we're already trying to figure out when to go again, my DH and I are torn about whether or not to stay there again or try something new since this is the only place he's stayed at and I have only stayed at one other place - POR.

I guess if I had to pick a negative it would be that we never got the pack n play we requested - we had a crib, but thought we might be able to get her to play in it and corral her while we were getting ready in the mornings - or the maintenance request on the fridge that no one ever came for and how long it took to get through to the front desk when we tried to call. But those were minor things and wouldn't affect us on our decision to go back.

I found the walls at the CSR to be paper thin. We heard our neighbors talking and TVs at moderate volume, and heard the footsteps of the people in the rooms above us. I find this problem with all of the Disney resorts that were built since the mid-90's though. I never hear a sound from my neighbors at the other moderate resorts.

I also do not like the Pepper Mill. I don't like that they tack on 10% to your bill for the services of getting seated, maybe getting your drink refilled, and clearing your tray. I'm perfectly fine doing that myself.

I loved Coronado, but the only thing my family didn't like was the Pepper Market. We ate there once as we had already had a large lunch at the Brown Derby followed by tea at the GF, so wanted something a bit more casual. The food itself was very good, but the atmosphere was quite chaotic, not to mention the drinks service - we got 'told off' for trying to get our own drinks.

That's strange about the drinks, the CMs there when we went definitely didn't mind if you got your own.:)
I think the only thing I didn't like was the beds. I thought they were a bit hard. Other than that, we loved the resort. We didn't notice any noise problem with the walls even, but then again, we may have been the 'noisy' ones.;)

We stayed here for the one night that we'd be in Orlando before our cruise in May. This was the first time that we stayed in a Moderate. (We belong to the Vacation Club.) In years past, since there are 5 of us, the Mods were out of the question. Since there were only 3 of us on this trip, we gave it a try.

We had a problem finding our room. The signs aren't the best. We first went to the wrong building. :confused3 Once we figured out which building we were in, finding the room was the next adventure. It was about a mile from the elevator. ;)

We were pretty far back in the complex. I did see what appeared to be some sort of shuttle running, but we opted to drive back to the main building.

I confess, we're spoiled by the DVC resorts that we usually stay. It wouldn't be fair to compare rooms to what we used to. I will say that the room was clean, everything was in good shape and it was quiet.

We did enjoy our dinner at the Maya Grill and found the Pepper Market to be very convenient for breakfast the following morning. :flower:

Add me to the list of those that don't like the Pepper Market. All the times I have been there I got seated and got the first drink. They disappeared after that. For 10% I think I should get more than that.

Every time I have been at CSR I have had to help people find their way around the resort. I agree the signage isn't very good.

I just don't get a Disney feeling at CSR with the theming.

I don't usually do buses but the time I stayed there for business I found the buses took a long time to come.

I didn't care for the hot tub because it was filled with small children with no parents to be seen.

Glad to hear that many like CSR so that leaves rooms at CBR for me.

I hate that its about 1100 miles away. I am a DVC member and usually stay in a one bedroom villa with the nice tub, and kitchen. I would (and have) add on to my stay at any of the Disney moderates in a heartbeat.

I hated it the worst on June 13 2006........when I had to check out. Love everything else, but thats a totally different topic.

That it does't have queen beds and 2 sinks because then it would be perfect!

That we are not there. :cool1:

Didn't notice noise from other rooms, it is a very quiet resort.

Don't mind the 10% tip because they took our trays, got us our drinks and refills and coffee after we ate.

I don't like the fact that it's a convention hotel... if you're there at the same time that a convention is going on, you sometimes lose that "vacation" feel. I'm not a fan of the mandatory 10% tip at Pepper Market. Not a problem if we're eating a full meal, but gets tiresome if you're only going in to grab a quick snack. I'd rather they raise the darn prices and quit tacking on the darn fee. I'm not a fan of the rooms and the walks, but on the positive side, I LOVE the theming of the pool!

Getting a snack, use the take out cards so you don't get charged the 10%.

Walks to the ranchos or other villages have been eliminated because CSR has implemented an internal shuttle system that drops you off at your building.

Convention resort - GF, Cont, BW, Y & B Club are also convention resorts but it seems that CSR is the only one that ever gets acknowledge for it.

Actually, I didn't mind that there was a convention going on. They walk pass us with their business suit on and they look awefully hot with their ties on and the ladies pantyhose. But my children and I were wearing our bathing suit!! "Ha ha ha ha ha..." :earboy2: "We're on vacation and having lots of fun...and you're not!" That was the impression I was giving them. Well of course they look at us and wishing they were us.

The advantage to having the convention is that you will be mostly be put in Cabanas. The front desk CM said that when there's convention, they normally put them at Casitas and families that are vacationing are usually put at Cabanas. And sure enough, we had the best building! 9B Cabanas!! The other trip we had was also in Cabanas. I think it's the best spot!

Well.. the actuall advantage is that the bus are usually empty going to the parks and getting back to the hotel. There was always plenty of room, so you can sit pretty much anywhere in the bus.

I found the CMs at the food court very helpful. We were waiting for our pizza, so we decided to just head back to our table. The CM asked us what we were ordering, so about 5 minutes later, he came back with our pizza. We did have to refill our mugs a couple of times, which is no big deal cause the dispenser was not too far from us.

I love everything about CSR. The only thing I notice is that the price at the PM was a bit higher than the other resorts. I felt that the other resorts have more varieties.

If you ask me which I would choose between CSR vs CBR. CSR hands down!
