You Are Not The First To Pass This Way: 2nd Magic Baltic Cruise, 6/24/2010

Definitely think that the July cruises will be more full than the June cruises. A lot of schools don't get out until the very end of the month, and schools in Europe go until July. Interesting that there are 5s and 6s still available. I was anticipating a very crowded ship. Would be nice to be able to spread out a bit. Also that's consistent with the Palo dinner availability. I bet the ship feels really crowded when we're all trying to rush off in St. Petersburg!

I had to go look:rolleyes1 Our July 6 cruise has availability in EVERY category! I didn't see any discounts though.

dont you have to book by 2weeks out?

Make sure and stop by our little mini dis-meet at the Promenade Lounge at 3:00 on embarking day. It will give us and the kids a chance to meet others before the trip starts.

see everyone in a couple of weeks... :yay:

Can anyone stop by the minimeet? Is it just a place to meet people from the DIS boards? and exchange ideas?

:goodvibes :grouphug: PLEASE! PLEASE Stop by! Just time to meet some familiar "faces" We will take care of any updates for FE, but that is the only FE business. The more the merrier in my opinion!:goodvibes

oh I stopped by the dollar store and picked up some name tags so we are set there.

So, with seemingly some room available on the ship, the overall price and the possibility that a lot of families just don't want to do a Scandinavian cruise, does anybody think there might be some surprise upgrades? When would anyone find that out?

I've got our fish extenders done and the magnets all printed. I feel like I'm slowly checking things of the list. Phew.

Of course, my oldest child announced last night that he only has 2 pairs of shorts that he can wear. You can tell it just started to warm up in Switzerland. :) I guess I need to see if I can find him another pair or two, because I have no plans to do laundry.

Probably at embarcation, although I understand free upgrades at check-in are rare. Upgrades will almost certainly be available for extra cost, just ask. you might get a deal.

Thanks... Thought I was in the Baltic Cruise thread for the one after yours... LOL I am on the July 6th cruise... But still, I did not envision the ship being full nor did I see a lot of kids... I see the Med cruises as being more popular for kids because of the weather as a more hotter, summery-type vacation... As opposed to Scandinavia where daytime temps could be 60...

Plus, these trips are just so costly... Tough for a family right now to do it.

I saw on the June 5 Repo from Barcelona to Dover where one family went from a Cat 12 to a Cat 4 or 5! :cool1: And he did not say he paid anything but you never know. :confused3 We are in a Cat 8 on deck 7 (7510) so they just have to move us down the hall for a :tinker: VERANDAH (thks Tink)? ;);) Just a suggestion to the cruise fairy! :wizard:

We have one of the 2 category 1 suites. I booked it 18 months ago. Really.

We are a party of 7 and booked cat 2 on first day they went on sale....we have been waitlisted since then.....strange that you were able to get one right away....I am concerned because one of our travelers is on dialysis and concerned about space.....

OK...sounds like fun, how do we identify the DISers?

My Group (all 7 of us) will be in Lime green Baltic Mickey shirts.. we will be hard to miss.:rotfl:. Mom put together shirts for us and they are GREAT!
Can't believe we are actually almost there!

Our group of 14 will also have matching shirts. I'm not sure how many will go to the meet though. Only 7 of us are participating in the fish extenders.

My son just asked if we could please, please go on the ship 5 days early. I said it wasn't that easy! No one seems worried that they'll get tired of the ship after 12 nights. :rotfl2:

Stopping by Manor, Coop or Migros?
That's about it for options here in Baden. I still need to get the boys dress shoes. Now where can I get those?

I'm planning to stop by!

Do people have their Russian visas yet? A few in my party haven't provided their passport numbers (as of last week, they still didn't have their passports), so I'm a little nervous about that.

Kids just have three days left of school. Now we're getting to that time when I just want to incubate them so no one can get sick before the cruise. But I won't. Just getting nervous and there's just too much anticipation after 16 months of planning. Oh, and time to start packing soon.

Good luck everyone with final preparations! :wizard:

I'm hitting Zurich tomorrow to try Manor and possibly Jemoli. I have my doubts. He's a 12 slim at home, and the slims practically fall off. I know Swiss/European clothes run slimmer, but I haven't seen actual slims anywhere. To make matters worse, the two pairs of shorts that he approves and fit and the same short! He liked them so much, we bought them in 2 sizes. So don't laugh when you literally see him in the same shorts every day.

Good luck on the dress shoes. I broke down and bought my daughter some sandals at Walder (is that a chain?) but it cost me 99 CHF! I'm stocking up on shoes when I hit the States this summer. I was thrilled when my oldest said that he'd be fine with sneakers and flip flops on the cruise. Still need to take the other one shopping. Thanks for the reminder! It had fallen off my list.

The aforementioned 12 year old is currently home sick. I actually thought, "Good, at least we can get this over with before we go." when he got sick over the weekend. Is that bad, or what?

We've been thru one case of pink eye and one ear infection in the past week. Hopefully that is it. I will have my "just in case " antibiotics with me on this trip.

I still need to get ds a new suit. His old one was from when he was 14 and he's 17 now. Girls are pretty well set. Just need to get dd, 14 a pair of dress shoes. Tomorrow is the last day of school and we will hit the stores come Wed.

Have fun with all the final preperations. I'll probably start packing this weekend.

I'll be the one who just got off the plane.

LOL!!!:lmao:

Agree! My kids might shoot me if we had matching anything. The 4 of us are going to look jet lagged and a little wiggy, but hopefully we will all be conscious and at the meet at 3. But it's good to know others will be matching so we'll be able to find you!!
