You Are Not The First To Pass This Way: 2nd Magic Baltic Cruise, 6/24/2010

LOL!!!:lmao:

Agree! My kids might shoot me if we had matching anything. The 4 of us are going to look jet lagged and a little wiggy, but hopefully we will all be conscious and at the meet at 3. But it's good to know others will be matching so we'll be able to find you!!

Same here. There is no way my kids would do the matching thing. They would swear I was just trying to embarass them. We all will probably be a little haggard looking too, but the adrenline will help get us through!!!

I called DCL tonight to inquire about how transportation will work. I was told that transportation will begin running at 9:00 AM and there will be various forms, motor coach, mini bus or taxi. It all depends on how many people are arriving at any given time. Also, she said they don't look at arrival time, just airline and flight #. All terminals will be covered with Dis peeps with their Mickey hands and blue blazers right outside of baggage claim.

All the info she gave me regarding transportation made me feel more comfortable with my choice. I was afraid I was going to be waiting for hours for a bus to load and take off. They seem to have a system all worked out.:woohoo:

That's great! And it also sounds a lot like Disney, in terms of having the airports covered. They have to be expecting a lot of people to be showing up the morning of the cruise. It will be fine, and you can trust them to know what they're doing and how to get you there.

My Husband isn't too happy about the choice of Lime Green, :rotfl2::rotfl2: but he is being a good sport. My dad is the Major Mickey fan (this is his first DCL cruise) so anything dawning Mickey Mouse is good for him. Not sure what my Aunt's husband is thinking about it... Should be interesting.. he is not a huge Mickey fan and I really can't picture him in Lime green. Should be pretty funny..:rotfl::rotfl: Katie is such a good sport.. she is good with just about anything! But Mom did a great job getting the shirts done and I think it will be great.

It sounds like they're more informed now that the cruises have actually started. I'll have to call and see if there are any updates on the transfers from the hotels. I'll be staying one night at the Le Meridian Piccadilly before the cruise and taking the DCL transfer from the Grosvenor House.

I plan to be at the lounge at 3pm. I don't know what I'll be wearing, but I'm not planning on matching anyone. If I can make it to the theatre the night before, I might appear in a t-shirt from Priscilla, Queen of the Desert: The Musical. :cutie:

macassi: got some white shoes at Migros. Not dress shoes, but they should be fine with sailor suit my DS picked out. This is no doubt last cruise he will choose such cute outfit. Went to Manor for lunch but no shopping. No Jemoli in Baden. BTW, where do your kids go to school? Mine are at ZIS Baden.

I bought kids several matching tshirts. Even got a matching shirt for DH. Me, I prefer not to match but I enjoy dressing my clan as long as they'll put up with it. ;)

Two days left til summer vacation!

Single digits! Can't believe that we are soooo close. Leaving one week from tomorrow.

Did a bit of shopping last night while dd was at voice lessons and found her the perfect shoes to match her dress. Her dress is navy blue and I can't believe I found a pair of navy blue dress shoes! Thank you TJ Maxx!

Sent an email last night to just reconfirm St Petersburg tour and had an answer this morning. SPB Tours and Viktoria are really on top of things. I like that.

Now I'm just hoping and praying that DD, 22 can get all her online class stuff done before we leave. Don't want her to have to try to contend with the internet onboard.

Have a great day and enjoy your final preparations.

Still 10 days out but here is the forcast for Dover. Not Bad... Hopefully not much changes.. but with England who knows what it will be.

Thu Jun 24
Partly Cloudy

64° High
52° low

20% chance of rain

Decided today to pack for 60-65 degree weather and add a couple of things for a little warmer and a little cooler.

FE - done
Katie packed - done
magnets made - done
itenerary packed - done
Now if I can just get my stuff packed!
I think we are doing pretty good. We leave in 3 days!

I'm tracking the weather forecasts all over the place, but the main one is what things will be like in New York on the 23rd so I can anticipate delays at JFK. So far the forecast has changed completely from yesterday to today. And I discovered this morning that American Airlines moved our DDs seats from row 21 (where DH and I are) to row 38. No explanation. Imagine my phone call to the AA rep just now!!!! Of course the flight is 97% full and she couldn't tell me why they did it. She managed to get one of them in row 23 and one in row 24, so now I have to work it again when we check in or otherwise see if nice strangers on the plane will be willing to swap with us.

SIGH....

Just wish we were in Dover already!!!!!

Mine are at ICS in Zurich. I picked up some shorts from a friend today that her son outgrew, so I'm going to try those. Now that I've gone to all this work for shorts, he'll probably be in jeans every day! Ha!

Every time I talk (post) with you about Switzerland, it just amazes me that we are 2 people from the Bay Area on expat assignment in Switzerland going on the same Disney cruise! Can't wait to meet you! Talk about a small world.

My daughter is completely confused about the plane flight to the cruise. She keeps asking why she won't have to sleep on this plane. :rotfl2: I guess our last few 12 hour + flights have really made an impression!

Hi Baltic Cruisers!

We are sailing on the cruise right after yours. Just wondering if anyone is planning to blog/trip report while on board?

Thanks and have a wonderful trip!

I am aspiring to a live trip report, assuming the time and decent internet access from the ship's computers (we made a firm decision not to bring a laptop). I'm actually a little surprised that no one is doing that from the first cruise. Hopefully others from this meet will chime in and we can make it a collective live thread. That's the goal.

At this time next week, we will be 2.5 hours from landing in London!! :woohoo:

I KNOW!!!!!!!:cool1::cool1:

Woke up this morning and realized we were a week out. It's a little unreal, especially since there has been ZERO packing in this house. Given how hot it's going to be here and how not hot it apparently will be in the Baltics, I'm making an all-out push for major packing this weekend so that Wednesday is not a chaotic mess on the grounds that the clothes we will need here will bear no resemblance to the clothes we will need there. Otherwise, it's just a question of getting my office to realize that I'm leaving and making sure the plane takes off on time!!!!

I'm hoping to bang out the packing this weekend. My dining room table is covered with stuff for this trip and my office floor looks about the same. Need to get it all together. I'm debating weather or not to let the 14 yr old do her own packing. I want it all done before Wednesday. All I want to do on Wednesday is get the dogs to the kennel and be 100% ready to go by 3:00. We'll see how that works out!!

We leave tomorrow for the june 24th sailing!!!!

one BIG Glitch. We emailed to confirm our 2 night stay in Canterbury (reservations we made forever ago) and they got our reservation mixed up with another!!! ie... no place to stay!!!

I have gotten rid of all of my research of places to stay in the Canterbury/dover area. Lesson learned!! Can anyone share any places they have researched that look decent? you can pm me if needed.
There are 7 of us and we are traveling by train.
Thanks for any help you may be able to give.

Kellie

On a brighter note.. all bags packed! 3 bags just under 50 lbs each. Just need a couple of last minute things and our carry ons.. :thumbsup2

First, congrats on the packing and on getting it all into 3 bags! Way to go!!!

Second, there were two places that looked quite good to us near Dover that we were considering before we decided to fly in the morning of the 24th. One is called Wallett's Court Hotel and the other is called The Marquis Hotel at Alkham. Both are outside of Dover proper and have really pretty country settings and looked like a good way to settle in and get over the jet lag and enjoy the area before the cruise. Hope it helps.

May I wish everyone on this cruise and this thread a fantastic and safe vacation.

For thoose going to London, do as we do, live live to the full, enjoy it, look for thoose odd places that are not in the tourist books, the hidden pub, or old building.

Enjoy yourselves so much you come back to London in 2012, to watch the Olympic games.

Have a great one, and it will be an honour and a pleasure having you guest in our country.

PS, And tell us about it after!!!!!
