Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A Pirate's Life for Three... C 32, P 39 - The End...Or Is It?

I need inside information from your DH! HOW did he get your DS to be so chill with the characters?! Stasia hides from servers in retaurants and won't look anyone in the eye... imagine her up against an entire character meal?!

My limited understanding of said magical conversation is basically that DH talked DS into the characters by telling him that he could "play" with them and show them his cars, and things like that. I'm not sure exactly how he phrased it, but it's almost like a tool to breaking down the wall of fear, you know?

If you like, I can ask him for a more detailed account when he gets home! :goodvibes

And can we just give homage to the duck for a moment here? Donald was AMAZING! And I am always amazed, because Donald is ALWAYS amazing. And I never expect that. I expect him to be a short-tempered foul, one quack away from disaster. And he's always wonderful with children, and he was so good with my son.

He played with those race cars with DS for at least five minutes solid. One of the benefits to a later breakfast time, folks. As people start leaving, characters have more time for you. Dang, now the secret's out.

Anyway, Donald played with those cars, raced them back and forth across the table, and then took and raced them back and forth across that big ole bill of his! I was hysterical. I was laughing, I was almost crying, and my boy was so happy. He giggled. Like only little boys giggle, and it was just one of the best feelings ever.

Up next - Did anyone actually sleep? ;)

I always knew Donald was my favorite for a reason. I just adore the duck...temper and all.

And my guess is that no, nobody slept. Too excited. I'm hopeful for at least a bit of quiet time.

Honestly, he's growing on me. A lot. We've had several really really special interactions with Donald over the years, and I'm always amazed by them.

I wonder if that poor duck feels like he has to work extra hard to compete with the main mouse. Poor fella. :sad2:

We'll see! :goodvibes

...yes please... :rolleyes1

Just last Sunday Stasia flipped out with the "I've got to get out of here" commentary because a waitress smiled at her. Help needed! :rotfl:

I digress. Who's surprised? ;)

You wouldn't be TK if you didn't.

It was quite funny, too, before they got back the nice hostess was explaining the routine to me. "And you'll want to put your child on the outside so the characters will be able to say hello," and I started shaking my head slowly and explaining our dilemma, and she abruptly changed gears and said with a smile, "And you'll want to put your child on the inside so the characters will know to just wave." God bless her. She got it. So, at their recommendation, we put DS on the inside, making a parental wall between him and the characters. :thumbsup2

How super-perceptive. A+ for Disney magic.

I love me some of that foul-tempered duck!

I swear, I thought I was going to see a Mouse vs. Duck smackdown right then and there, with good ole Goof as a referee.

The Ultimate Fighter: Disney.
Maybe THAT'S how to get BF to the World!!! ;)

Two rolls of Smarties (DS picked those, who's surprised)

::chirpingcrickets::

This was such a sweet chapter. Your DH has such a way with the little man, like they communicate in their own little language that's not necessary for anyone else to understand.

I think it's called "Boy".

I need to learn it. I need a degree in it. Because maybe, just maybe, someday I'll understand why MY boy (BF) feels the need to leave the mouthwash by the sink. IN THE KITCHEN.

Seriously, hon, GREAT chapter.

AWWW!!! That was the best character meal story ever! I am sooo happy to hear that your DS overcame his fears!

I can't speak boy at all :confused3

You wouldn't be TK if you didn't.

Sadly true.

You bring him to my place, I'll show him the pictures.

And tell him I'll throw in some proscuitto to sweeten the pot, eh?;)

Yes. The world of boy. It is a mystery to me, but one I enjoy unraveling (for the most part :lmao: ).

Now that I can't help you with, because our mouthwash is firmly planted next to the sink. In the bathroom. :lmao:

Seriously, hon, GREAT chapter.

Thank you. :goodvibes

I am sooo happy to hear that your DS overcame his fears!

I was so relieved.

I can't speak boy at all :confused3

In addition to actual vocalization, it's important to recognize the validity of bodily functions as part of the overall language.

For example: DH farts. DS giggles uncontrollably.

The world of boy. :lmao:

Yay for wonderful character interaction!!! Your DH is awesome! Can he please come and talk to my DH about why my DH should be excited about our trip?!?

I would have picked the smarties too! I'm a candy-aholic!

Awesome chapter! You make me want to try Chef Mickey's but I have to admit, Mickey doesn't do it for me. Of course, I love him and realize it all started with a mouse but meh. I don't even think I have ever had my picture taken with him. Wow. I must rectify that.

I love that your DH was able to bring DS around to feel comfy with the character. You are one lucky lady! :goodvibes

Marc leaves his deodorant by the stove. I still can't figure that one out.

Loved your CM report! What fun you had with the characters! :thumbsup2 Did you ever find out how DH got DS to change his attitude?

Yes. The world of boy. It is a mystery to me, but one I enjoy unraveling (for the most part :lmao: ).

That's funny. I'm getting a big kick out of watching my brother learn to deal with the world of girl.

I talked to him yesterday and he was returning a coat that my 7 year old niece refused to wear. Why? When I asked her she told me with utter distaste that it was brown. :lmao: She picked out one that was more "her" from LL Bean. Now he's perplexed by the fact she doesn't want to wear the same dress as last year to her harvest ball. Totally clueless to the world of girl.

Sadly that one is not relegated to the world of boy. My 5 year old niece finds them irresistably funny. Not to mention one of my bff's that gets more entertainment out of them than anyone I know.

I loved this installment! So glad that DS played w/ the characters. DH is like a character whisperer or something!

I can't wait to hear about the best Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (spelling it out so as not to offend ;) )

I think Tink and I have had this same conversation in regard to her BF. We decided my DH should run a Disney boot camp, all attendees will leave will versed in the art of dressing like Jack Sparrow and loving it, and partaking in all that Disney has to offer. ;)

You would get a long SO well with my son!:lmao:

Dude.

Get on that. ;)

I meant to ask last night, but was in such horrendous pain, I forgot about it. I pulled a rather large muscle in my back, almost like throwing your back out and could barely move for most of the day. I've been on lots of ibuprofen since.

Ah, I feel his pain. Truly.

And, as a woman, I would have totally understand that whole jacket / dress thing. That, I get. :lmao:

Well, thank you for the full spelling. It was Just. That. Good. :thumbsup2

Where do I sign him up???? :hyper:

So sweet -- I am so happy that DS learned to love the characters -- was it smooth sailing with them for the rest of the trip?

Well, I'm afraid it would require travel by plane, since we live in New England. :lmao:

Actually, CP, it was pretty good. I wouldn't call it smooth sailing, in the sense that it really depended on his mood. For example, we would ask some times, and he would say no, but when he was excited to do it, he was very into it. And we had a couple of STELLAR character experiences, one that took place at MNSSHP where one of the characters really, really engaged DS. It was amazing. And in one swift move, a character that used to be sort of for me, became my son's. And I love those moments. The full circle ones, you know?

Wow, I reveal too much! :lmao:

But not enough revelation -- so now I am very curious as to who this character was that engaged your son. :goodvibes
