YMP Code and Expedia Room Only Rates

I am an AP holder who is thinking about booking the YMP code and paying for 1 ticket each (a total of $230 for 2 A and 2 C). I was over on Expedia trying to get room only rates so I knew what my ballpark was going to be as I sat on hold with CRO. What can I say, I'm impatient ;).

Anyway ... next to each hotel name on Expedia it says:
Standard room (regular)-includes dining
Includes:food/beverage credit

And the rates are regular rack rates, plus taxes and Expedia's charges.

CRO ended up wanting $1128 for 6 nights at Port Orleans and Expedia wanted $929, almost $200 less!

I would have booked it, but it's an "Expedia Special Rate" which means it costs $25 to cancel or change and you have to pay 100% in advance.

What do you guys think?

ETA: When I move the dates before 8/21, the message about dining credits goes away.

wow, that's interesting... i just did it for my dates and "includes dining" is also appearing but i cannot find anywhere that gives more detail than that... i'm thinking of emailing expedia to see what they say...

It can't hurt :). If you do, could you report back here? :wave2: Thanks!

The vaules are almost exactly the same price---a few dollars here or there. Interesting that the moderates are coming up less.

Edited to add: when I look at my dates (9/21-9/25) the prices are exaclty what I was getting from WDTC for moderates, too.

Did the Expedia price include the 11% tax?

Rack rate was $134 per night. The total for 6 days at POR was $930 and that included all taxes and Expedia frees, which came out to about $20 per night. That's more than 11%.

my question is... does expedia include tickets or can you get the room and dining w/out buying tix? if so, that will make lots of AP holders very happy!

I just checked for the Poly for 3 nights and it comes out to be $360 cheaper than what I booked it for. My tickets for 5 of us were $275 1 day passes. I would book it this way if I knew for sure this was the case.

You can always apply those 1 day passes to your AP renewal. I called CRO and ended up booking through them because (1) my neice needed passes anyway and (2) I could apply the MYW passes to my AP when I was down at WDW at renewal time. That's only if you don't active the MYW pass, since once you do it's gone in 14 days. I'm not sure if you can apply them in advance of your renewal date. The CM I spoke to today said I could when I was there in August, but you know CMs ... you can't really bank 100% on what they say.

I just booked 5 nights with free dining at Expedia for Pop Century. It cost $440, which is just great...and I didn't have to buy any passes!

yyzgurl,

Did it absolutely say that it included the Free Dining other than what we saw on the search results page? Did it say something definative in the confirmation?

Even though I started this thread, I suspect that it is a mistake on Endicia's part. I don't know if they will honor the Free Dining, but I do suspect they will allow you to cancel with no penalty if they don't. Just make double-dog sure you have the free dining before the deadline of when the promotion ends (early July, I think) so you don't miss out.

Just got my confirmation email from Expedia...

Hotel: Room 1 Reserved under the name:
xxxx xxx 2 adults Standard room-value-includes dining 9/2 - 9/6: $76.00 per night

Taxes & service fees $12.21 per night
Hotel: Room 2 Reserved under the name:
xxxx xxx 2 adults
1 child
Child age: 2 Standard room-value-includes dining 9/2 - 9/6: $76.00 per night

Taxes & service fees $12.21 per night
Amount charged for hotel reservation $882.10

It says it includes dining which in the details states that it is the Disney Dining Plan. So it looks good. Even if Expedia made a mistake, they will most likely honor it. From past experience, they are pretty good at honoring mistakes.

Disney is offering free MYW dining on packages for 8-21-05 to 10-04-05 I bet expedia is just following the same type program without the ticket. How nice for those going during that time. :flower:

So, AP holders can pay rackrate for their room, and STILL get the dining plan? Will Disney honor this do you think? Doesn't really matter for me since I can't pay upfront, but WOW! :earseek:

Awesome!!! I really do hope they honor it for you.

"Honor" can mean lots of things, since I haven't seen many details on the expedia site specifying what, exactly, "free dining" means.

I'd call them rather than assume that it will work out.

i received responses to my emails to expedia... they are not clear AT ALL! (imo) basically they suggest that we call disney...

thank you for a quick reply...
i did, in fact, click that link and was brought to a page of room
configuration, virtual tour (which is quite nice) and other amenities and
such listed, but no where on there was food/beverage credits listed... i
would be interested to know specifically how many and what type of credits
are included before making a purchase decision.

thanks in advance,
~gigi

I'll bet a mickeybar that I know what Disney will say---you have a room-only reservation, not a MYW package, so no dining for you. However, this response makes it clear that Expedia won't do anything for you.
