I just found out about this so I wanted to let other know. I had been looking into a Y membership for me & my two kids after their doctor became concerned about their weight & activity level. It's going to be getting too cold here soon to be outside & the Y is right around the corner from where we live. I knew I couldn't afford the monthly fees but noticed on their website they offer financial assistance based on your income. Although I'm a single mom I didn't think I'd qualify because I make too much (yeah right, LOL) to qualify for most types of aid. Well just to find out I took in my tax paperwork from last year & the one page application from their website. They looked it over & approved us right away for a 1 year membership at 50%!!
I'll be paying $33.xx a month for all three of us to have full access to all the Ys in the area & it's not a contract so if I find out I can't afford it I can cancel at anytime.
I'm looking forward to getting healthy with my boys & us having something active to do during the winter months coming up:yay:

I love our YMCA - I don't understand why more people don't take advantage of it. It's not as pretty as some places, but you can't beat it for the price and the staff are all great! I love all the kids programs, from swim lessons (all year - indoor pool) to summer daycamp to basketball league.

:thumbsup2 Just shows that if you need the help, it doesn't hurt to ask, because even if you think you might not qualify, you might. Enjoy your membership at the y!
