Hey all -

I guess I totally goofed because our plans were not set in stone until recently. We just this week moved from MA to DE and that put my cruise planning on hold :(

We are now driving from DE to FL, leaving Friday morning so we need a room at the port Saturday night for Sunday departure on the Wonder. Unfortunately we are also traveling Presidents week - very busy. So I can't book Ron Jon or the Radisson for the one night - the 18th, Bummin.

Are there any other alternatives? Nothing fancy but clean with safe accomodations for our car and transportatin to the port, I did all the travel engines I know and nothing jumped out so I though I would ask the experts!

TIA
TJ

Best Western and Days Inn are close, not as close as the Radisson but 5 -10 minutes if no traffic.

Great and thanks, I will check for availibility. FWI don't need fancy but with 2 dd's want something safe, comfortable, and clean. Do they have transporatation to the port and is the parking at the hotel safe?

Sorry - you are on your own there - do not know....

Take a look at cocoabeach.com - they links to most of the hotels near the port. I think DoubleTree might have park & ride and also Hampton (but check the web site since I might have gotten that wrong).

Thanks, I will - and I am getting slightly paniced now!

Best WEstern dosen't have availability and I can't figure out if days inn has port transportation and car parking.

If we have to park at the port does anyone know the cost and if it is safe?

Just go to travelocity.com and do a search on hotels in 'port canaveral' for that time. Came up with a bunch of hotels for me. Not sure, but I think parking at the port by the DCL terminal is $10 per day.

TJ - this is Shirley from The Perfect Gift - call me at the shop tomorrow- 800-950-4559 and I am sure I can help you find a place ok
Always

oops I forgot I have to leave by 9AM for a dr's appointment so you can call me on my cell 321-508-2246 after 12PM - I will check with some folks and I feel they can come through for me. (if you call me between 8am and 9am, I'll be at the shop)

Not getting much for that 1 night but lots for a 2+ night stay. Also need transportation to the port and car parking for the 4 day cruise. ???

Wow - how nice - I won't be available tomorrow until later in the afternnoon but if it is ok I will try both numbers and leave my good numbers.

I think since I only need one night the websites are only showing nothing - when I put in more than one night I am getting availability. Possibly the nature of the area??

FWIW - I am also interested in stitch gift basket for my 10 yo and peter pan gift basket (no tinkerbell please LOL) for my 8yo but was also waiting on that inqury until after our move.

We decided on the Hampton Inn in Cocoa Beach after reading positive reviews on tripadvisor. It is close to the port, they have a shuttle service and breakfast is included as well. We're paying $99.00 for one night pre-cruise.

tjmw2727, welcome to DE. We live in DE and drive to the port as well. We usually stay around St. Augustine or Daytona and then park at the port for the cruise. I feel it is well worth the $10. per day parking fee in a secured lot and having quick access to our car.
You are most likely having problems finding a room for 1 night since it is a holiday weekend and the Daytona 500 is that Sunday as well.

Thanks all,

Ended up booking the Days Inn Coco Beach, just for the one night. It was the only thing available and it looks fine. We will drive and park at the port so that isn't an issue any longer.

Hi -

Cool - I am in shock as DE is very different from MA and so far I can find the school, grocery store and the rink (my girls figure skate). Other than that I am LOST LOL.

Just wondering, do you stop for one night during the trip from DE to FL or do you drive straight through? We are leaning toward stopping, probably 8ish hours into the drive or wherever is safe and convenient. Any suggestions?
