Any suggestions on what to do on our final day with a 3 yo in tow (who usually naps) and 11 a.m. BLT checkout??

Thank you for suggestions!

That's what we do. If you are using ME, leave bags with Bell Services and head back to resort in time for bus.

If going to a park isn't an option what about the pool? You can shower and change before leaving.

Hopefully you could find a shady spot and let your little one nap on a lounge chair.

I agree with PP. check you bags with Bell Keep then head to the parks.

I have a 1 year old that has made 2 trips so far and our flight is usually at 6:00 pm. Napping in the park is hit or miss depending on how tired he is. Best sure fire way to do it is to take him into one of the cool, dark shows like Country Bear Jamboree. Let him fall asleep then drape the stroller before you go outside. Or, let him skip the morning nap and sleep on the ME.

If the airline is the one that moved your flight time you can call and have them move it. It has happened to us tons of times and we have never been charged a fee.

Otherwise, I say a park day too!

Your other option is to consider seeing if you can pay for another night. I wish we had done that this Dec when we were not leaving on a flight until 6:30 pm.

It was my DD13 and I and we just couldn't find enough to keep us busy at the park all afternoon (ME was picking us up at 3:25). We even stayed in the room until around 10:30 am, just to kill time.

At about 2:00 pm, we had done everything we wanted at the MK, ate lunch, walked back to CR and still had over an hour to kill.

Next time, I have a late flight, I am paying for an extra night of points so I can have a place to relax in the afternoon, after visiting the park.

That would be unless it is Delta. We have been so burned with Delta since they took over NWA! THey changed our flight 4 times for our trip in December, and each time we called to get it changed back, we couldn't get the exact same flight, and they charged us a change fee. That was to the tune of $100/ticket! Finally DH pitched a fit and told them since THEY changed it in the first place each time maybe they need to pay HIM the change fee! That finally got them to change it for free. The problem was that we still ended up with really strange times. I wouldn't mind so much if they didn't always change us from a non-stop to a connecting flight. NO WAY am I taking a connecting flight when I booked a non-stop.

There are some quiet spots to nap as well, don't know where they are at BLT, but at VWL there is a little lounge in the Villas part that would be perfect for some quiet time. At Boardwalk Villas the Bellevue Lounge is remarkably quiet mid-afternoon.

I started booking the extra night last year because our flight always leaves after 7 pm. I like relaxing in the morning without the knocks or phantom calls. We do hang out and this last trip I went over to MK in the morning to shop and then went back to the villa to finish packing and then relaxed and watched TV until it was time for ME. I like going from Villa to ME to Plane to home in about 4 hours total.:goodvibes

We are not exhausted when we get to the airport or home and I usually go to work the next morning feeling sooo much better than when we used to check out and wait around all day.

It really makes the last day feel like vacation and less like a travel day.

We have been flying more on Tue and Wed and I find I can stretch my vacations an extra day instead of recuperating from the late flight and still go to work..

If my ME pickup time is after 3pm, and I have the points, I book the extra day.

We check out slowly and do a late character breakfast at chef mickeys which can kill a good hour plus when your taking your time. We also monorail around to other resorts and wander around.

Have them move what? Your checkout time? I understand how that would help you out and why you would ask for it, but I would not be very happy if I were the unlucky guest scheduled to check into that same room that day. Late check-out means a later cleaning, hence a much later check-in time. :sad2:

boy I go the other way. Leave early - like 6:30 am or 7:30 am - and leave at 3:30 to 4:30 am....

Ha - I actually prefer this flight time with my 3 year old! He is a napper, but will do so in a stroller if he has too. I didnt want him to get a real nap so that he would sleep on the plane so on our final day this is what we did:

- Breakfast at the hotel (POFQ before we were DVC owners!)
- Visit to downtown disney for lunch (and conveniently our DVC tour!)
- Pool time
- Then we used the changing/shower areas by the pool to get ready - ME pick up was 4pm or so

DS rested on the boat to/from downtown and in his stroller a bit, but he was easily able to skip his nap for this and then conked out as soon as we got on the plane!

Now - regarding yoru changed flight. I travel Delta all the time and its my preferred airline by a mile - if they change your flight by more than 10 minutes, AND there is another delta flight that you want to be on instead, just call them to discuss it. Every time its happened to me, they have moved my trip free of charge - once they even gave us a credit! We originally booked a 3pm flight in the afternoon which was the more expensive of the flights that day - they cancelled that flight and moved us to the 11am which was 75$ less a person! They gave me delta dollars because it was their change that I used on our trip the following year!

One other thing, if you get tired in the park take the boat over to ft. wilderness from the contemporary and go for a pony ride and play on the playground.

If you are trying to find a napping spot and then hit the parks later, I would consider going to the Poly and grabbing one of their beach shells. You can drag it over to a quiet spot and let him sleep on a towel on the beach. You might even be able to get two shells and build him a dark "fort." It makes for a nice place to plunk. The only thing is the ferry will blow a horn when docking so if he/she is a light sleeper, this may not be for you.

Good luck!

I think she is talking about the airline switching them to an earlier flight if it was the airline who moved the original flight to a later time. Airtran switched me to an earlier flight after they rescheduled my original flight for an hour later. No problems.

:thumbsup2 That has happned to us with Airtran and they were always happy to change it for us too.

Looks like I misunderstood......my apologies. I hate when the airlines do that -- don't you wish they would call and say "hey, we have to switch your flight time, do you want to switch to another flight?" But I guess that's only in my dreams, huh.....:rotfl:
