yeti will definitely not be fixed??

Ok I am a EE fan as well as a Dis fan also a Robo fan so I will refer to the Yeti as a she. Well paying special attention to the Yeti waiting for the arm not to grap me. I was very surprised even to the point of a small yelp when she swiped at me this May. So is it that she sometimes works and not others?

How did the Yetti break?

The yeti itself is not "broken." The yeti is fully able to operate.

The problem is that they can't OPERATE the yeti because it is
not ANCHORED to the mountings safely.

The yeti is so HEAVY that, when it moves, it causes so much stress to the
mountings that it has cracked the support system.

In order to repair the mountings, reports are that they must (at least partially) remove the yeti.
To do that, they must shut down the attraction for a period of time.

Instead of closing the attraction, they have elected to simply not "power" the yeti (for the time-being) and just light the (motionless) yeti with a flashing strobe light.

I think they should fix the foundation situation. It's definitely not as fun or scary without the yeti moving. We have done both and you can tell, no doubt. We still think it's fun, but it's not the best it should be. I'd rather have the ride running properly than not up to its potential.

The projection is working for now. I guess based on current patterns, if the projector bulb burns out, they will not be replacing it, and there will no longer be a projection of the yeti ripping out the tracks. Just like the mist at the mountain, the bird, the moving yeti, and the water falls. I'm sure they'll give a reason, like the projector is mounted to the foundation and it would damage the ride or cause an extended downtime to replace that bulb. ;)

are you thinking of the vignette they show just as you start on the last part of the ride? that would not be the yeti. The yeti is a three story animatronic that weighs several tons that when operational reaches down and swipes a passenger out of the train.

it was difficult to predict the amount of stress that would occur from operating such powerful hydraulics most of the day for weeks and weeks, months and months. As I understand it from a reliable source, the foundations to the frame work and structure of the yeti have been damaged, not to the point of being unsafe... but enough that repair is a good idea. Continuing to operate the yeti would cause more damage to the point of being unsafe, so there is a flash bulb effect, instead of the yeti moving.

I would rather have the yeti be in B mode then know that when it is on it is cracking the foundation of the ride and possibly making the ride unsafe.

That's what I'm saying. It'll be even more of a thrill ride if a slab of concrete fell on people's heads on the way out of the mountain.:lmao:

Well, at the very least, it might cut down on the long lines........ :rotfl2:

This is proof that the people in charge do not care about the guests and what they like or not. There has been soo much talk about the yeti... we even herd about in Sweden. I really hope they fix it before I get there next fall. I am sure they will not. If the yeti will just stand there for no use at all they might aswell tear the entire ride down and build some Minnie camp restaurant or perhaps a new Dino USA spinner. Atleast that will work... for a while.

If you want to see something big comming against the audience check out Journey To The Center Of The Earth in Tokyo DisneySEA. Now there is a AA that knows how to move.

I don't think they can even contemplate a fix on the Yeti until they reopen Space Mountain. They really can't have 2 headline attractions closed at the same time.

I really just think they should have prioritized fixing the Yeti over closing Space Mountain for an update......

I agree, I know it sucks that the ride isn't working right but, at least you still get to ride it for now. It is my favorite ride so look out yeti here I come.

When I was on Everest last Wednesday, the projection and fog were not working either. The ride is in total shambles at this point and they mine as well just shut it down as its not a headliner if the majority of the ride isn't working. I guess I'll just hope that they take care of this right after Space Mountain is done.

There is a projection of the yeti's shadow ripping up the train tracks in the cave where you start going forward again. This is the one I am referring to. I was being sarcastic when I said they wouldn't bother changing the light bulb when it burns out. I think it's ridiculous that this ride was built without taking under consideration all the effects that would so easily break.

We rode it 2 weeks ago. After we got off, my wife said "I never saw the Yeti". It was in the strobe mode, but not very well lit up. It really is a shame. AK without Everest will probably be skipped by a lot of people - or guest relations will get an earful from upset folks.

I'll going for Christmas time... I hope that Expedition Everest...
If Yeti AA = Not Working/B-mode
at least...
Cloud Effect = WORKING
Station Steam = Working
Waterfall A = Working
Waterfall B = Working
Cave Mist = Working :worship:
Projection = Working

All things aside with the Yeti, is this ride really safe? I mean if the Yeti messed with the structural stability of the ride, and they still use it, is this making it unsafe for riders in the future?

I would hate to think that the bottom line would be more important to Disney than guest safety, but nothing surprises me anymore with any business in this economy.

Should we all be concerned?

1- Yes.
2- Nobody has said that "the yeti messed with the structural stability of the ride."
It has just damaged the YETI MOUNTING, which is not connected to the ride tracks at all.
The yeti has its own structure system.
3- Since one does not connect with or affect the other, safety is not an issue here.
4- Always be concerned.

Thank you so much for the info. It is greatly appreciated. I thought the Yeti was connected to the structural stability, so the mistake was on my part.

I just got back. I saw the Yeti. Was it not it's usual self? Last year I saw the strobe without the yeti.
