I've only flown a couple of times and never on SW. I picked up a great DING fare going to Tampa and was then going to get a rental car to orlando. Rental prices are OUTRAGEOUS and we'll be using the wdw system anyway once there.

Question - IF I come across a great deal for arrival into Orlando - is it possible to switch the tickets? I haven't seen anything so far, but the rental car by itself is as much as our airline tickets.

I don't know if this will help you with your question or not. But I have tried to change my reservation a few times and have not been able to. Well I should say that I could change it if I wanted to pay an extra $300 for fly home the next day. They have said that because it is a Ding fare it can not be changed.

Hope this helps you

Debbie

if an MCO Ding! shows up:

1) verify that the rate is available for the dates and number of tickets you want.

2) cancel your existing tickets

3) use the credit to pay for the new ones

I've actually used multiple IE sessions, the first one to hold the new tickets, the 2nd to cancel the existing reservation.

Gotta love the fact that Southwest doesn't charge a change fee.

I booked a trip to orlando and a better ding rate showed up. Not knowing how to get the better deal, I called SW customer service. The man was so nice. He stayed on the phone the whole time and walked me through it. If you do find a better rate, don't hesitate to call customer service. I have never flown sw, a little scared because I watch airline, but so far I think their customer service department is excellent.

It is no hassle at all....if you find a cheaper SW fare and it is available for your dates, start the booking process, when you get to the page where you enter CC info leave it on (it will hold those seats for you while you cancel your old reservation) and open a new window, go back to SWA.com and cancel your old tickets. At the end of that process it will give you a confirmation number for your cancelled ticket credits, write the number down and go back to your original screen with your new flights, and put the confirmation number you just got into the space where it asks for info on "Ticketless Travel Funds"

Voila...you have new tickets (obviously if your new tickets are more expensive than the old ones you have to pay the diff with a CC)...it is a quick and simple process...no fees no hassle....I think that is what I love most about SWA!!!

WOW!!! Thank you so much for this information!!

Thank you so much. I really appreciate your help. I wasn't sure if i cancelled the old tickets and got new ones if i could use the credit right away or if the seats would be gone by the time I got the others cancelled and the new ones bought.

I had nightmares of getting shut out with no tickets at all.

Of course, its gonna be really hard to beat 39.00 each way to tampa. But if i can get a price close to that going to MCO, it will be worth it just so I dont have to get the car ;)

I have changed to lower fares a few times with no problem weather they where ding fares or regular. :Pinkbounc
