Yet another split stay/MB question

This is our first split stay at Disney. We have a MYW package booked for 2 nights at the CR which includes our 9 day PH tickets. We will then switch to BWI which is a basic package only ressie (its not a room only rate because WDW reservationist said I can add dining to a basic package only rate, but not a room only rate...we plan to add dining to both reservations--they said basic package is the same as room only rate) Am I better of declining the second set of MB's. I have read of MB's not being able to open the door of room for the second hotel...also not sure if this diminishes our chances of being texted a room number for the second hotel. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!

I have had it where it does work with the second stay and wherecit does not. The explanation I got from the CM was 'it depends on resort'. You will still get a text that has no issue. The issue is if the first MB work. We had to go to reception and have them scan the first MBs. Then they worked fine.

If you didn't want to risk it or have to go to reception I would take both set of bands.

They are interchangeable so it really doesn't matter. I have ones from trips over a year ago that I take and they work. I do split stays all the time and the only time I've had problems with my MB twice. Once was the first resort and with the MB ordered with that resort. The second was at the second resort but I didn't even get to my room (it was assigned while I was in the park). My text said see the front desk, which I did. A few people huddled over my account for about 10 minutes, asked to see my MB, I handed them the one I had on my wrist, which actually was the one for that resort which I had put on that morning cause it matched my outfit don't you know. They had someone escort me to my room and brought my MB up to me about 5 min. later. In the mean time, because I'm such a rebel, I tried the one from the first resort in the door and it didn't work either. Who knows.

All of your MagicBands should work for either of your rooms. It is really no different than bringing an old band from a former trip. All bands should work. Now there are times when a band stops working, there are times when one band works better than another, but in general, it really doesn't make a difference whether you get one set or two sets of bands.

The real problem with split stays is that sometimes you are not properly checked out of the first resort and not properly checked into the second resort. Your MB might not work for your second resort room because it is still linked to the first resort. Just make sure when you check in and out of resorts that they scan the bands to make sure they are connected to the room.

This is the best advise. I actually just call from the room to check out of the first resort and since I head over to the second resort around 7:30 am or so, going to the front desk is no big deal. Now in my second scenario above where I was at the second resort and told to see the front desk, I had checked in and they had scanned my MB before I left to go to the park so something showed up on the computer somewhere between checking in and coming back. They knew what my room was going to be but it wasn't ready when I got there, which didn't bother me one bit.
