Yet another ? re: room-only discounts for Fall

Hi all - you've helped me so much in the past year, so I'm hoping you can once again! I can hardly believe it, but after hearing (from me!) about the 5 + 2 DM pkg, DH actually wants to go back to WDW in November, our preferred time of year for WDW (we just returned from a short stay at the CR 2 weeks ago!).

Well, there is no availability at GF (our fave) for our preferred dates and all 8-day intervals just before and after our preferred week. I never thought we'd be going back this year, so when I first noticed the 5+2, I didn't even think about trying to get a reservation, and now I guess I'm too late. Anyway, the question is (since I'm new at booking room-only), what are the odds, and past history, of a room-only code being released for said time period when there already exists a discounted pkg. for that time period? I'm thinking of booking room-only at rack rate and hoping for a room-only code to come along in the next few months.

Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

To answer your question, I'm not sure about AP rates or regular discount rates. But what about AAA discount? You could try that, assuming you have AAA. And if you don't, it should pay for itself with the discount.

I would not hesitate to book a rack rate room if you don't have AAA and keep checking for something better. Or book through DU and let them keep checking for you for the better rate. Considering that GF is not available now, all that's going to happen as you wait for a possible discount is for more rooms to be taken. You might as well hold one, and then cancel later if you want to. What have you lost?
