Not looking like we are going to make our cruise later this week because of flight delays/unavailability. We purchased insurance through Disney. I read VERY quickly. Do we just get back 75% of our cruise fare?

Any chance you could sneak out early and make it?

We were supposed to leave today for a Wednesday cruise, in two days. Combo of "bomb cyclone" over the weekend and already crazy holiday bookings mean absolutely nothing is available. This trip was rescheduled from last year's covid cancellation. Not too happy right now. Just trying to figure out what we'll get back from insurance.

Did you get the optional "Cancel for Any Reason" part of the DCL insurance? DCL's insurance isn't the best coverage.

You might have coverage under a credit card that you used to pay for the trip?

Here are the words from DCL Insurance concerning weather:

3. Natural disasters or bad weather resulting in the complete
cessation of services by the airline
, the tour operator or the
cruise line for at least 24 consecutive hours

I am sorry for your travel problems!

If you purchased insurance through DCL and are unable to cruise for a non-covered reason (that is, your claim is rejected by the insurance), then you will get a voucher for 75% of the cruise fare that can be used for a DCL cruise within a year. I am not sure if the year starts with the original cruise date or with the insurance purchase date (typically the date when cancellation penalties began).

I just checked, I shouldn't have.

Our first flight ended up leaving 1 hour 19 minutes late. Our second flight left 1 hour and 49 minutes late. We would have made it.

Gosh, I tried . . . but all the Southwest flights are sold out to anywhere NEAR San Diego and when there were seats available (American Airlines via Philadelphia and ORD) they were $1800 not including a checked bag. What a mess all over the country. And it's not like you could drive that far. Of course it's nobody's fault but . . . . it's incredibly disappointing. I'm so sorry. Just checked Amtrak. Would have taken 42 hours . . . . Did you cancel when you thought the flight would be delayed and then eventually canceled??? It's always a tough time of year to travel.

Mommb is correct. With the DCL-offered insurance you would get a credit for use on a future cruise, not an actual refund. First you will need to submit a claim through the insurance company and they will (likely) deny your claim. Then you contact DCL about the credit voucher. The flights, any pre-cruise plans and transportation aren’t covered unless booked through DCL.

Sorry you aren’t able to go on your trip and the extra stress.
I’m confused. Your flights went but you didn’t?

Just to clarify... the DCL-offered insurance doesn't offer options, the CFAR is automatic. Essentially there are 2 parts: 1) the basic insurance plan which is technically with a third-party, plus 2) if you cancel for a reason not covered by the insurance then DCL will allow a 75% credit towards a future cruise.

Our first flight was delayed, meaning we would not make our second flight connection and the agent at the airport could not find any alternatives searching Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. As it turned out, our second flight was subsequently delayed almost two hours, so IF we had taken our original flight (which left an hour and 20 minutes late) we would have made our second flight which left almost 2 hours late.

Thanks for the clarification. Seems like Cancel For Any Reason is a misnomer.

Maybe...in that you get a credit instead of a refund.
You should still receive 75% back (in the agreed upon form) instead of 0%. It is any reason, since your flights were not cancelled and the reason you are not going could be a not “covered” one. It is definitely a bummer but at least you won’t be out everything.

75% credit is better than nothing, absolutely. Makes me gun shy about booking another cruise. We planned to arrive two nights before the cruise and still didn't make it.

My son still went and he said people were in "my" room (next to his). Seems like Disney should give me 100% cash back because the room did not go vacant, but I won't hold my breath.

Last comment . . . Apparently Disney shuttle to the airport is not refundable because it's a third party vendor. C'mon Disney! I thought I was helping the environment by not using Uber, but something else I"ll be rethinking.
