Yet another incident... children in bathrooms.

Yup, I think Dad should bring his daughter right into the men's room. I don't think it is going to damage her psyche to see the backside of a man peeing. DH takes my 5 year old in when they are out. He just tells her it is not polite to stare and takes her into the stall.

This just clarifies my stance. I am going to keep taking my son in the bathroom with me and I shall ignore all of the glares.

All stores, malls, restaurants, etc should have family bathrooms. Over Christmas DH had DD (4) at the mall and of course she had to go "PP". He took her one of the department store bathrooms, they are usually smaller & don't have anyone in those, unlike the larger mall bathrooms. Yes, DS (6) still goes in with me and doesn't think anything of it. DS, DD & me all in one little stall, a little cramped, but you can't be too careful.

Back to this little girl, the article states that she was found unconscious, (as bad as this sounds) I hope that she was unconscious while that sick "you know what" did whatever he did to her. I would hate for an 8 y/o to have to live her life with such horrible memories. I hope he gets "his" in prison!!

There's no way I'd let my daughter go into a bathroom alone at age 9 (she's 7 now) and I definitely would have noticed she'd been gone a long time if something like this happened to her and would have checked on her myself if for some very strange reason (one I can't even think of now because I wouldn't do it) I did.

My DD is 11 and I still insist she not go alone when we are out. It's just not worth the risk. A public restroom is exactly that, a place for the public to go. You never know what will happen once they go in there alone. Children alone are exactly what these low life scums are looking for.

My family and friends are told my kids are not to go to public restrooms alone, ever. I also, without being told myself, would never allow children in my care, to go alone either.

I even worry about school bathrooms these days.

This poor girl and her family :(

Me too! Our poor children will never know the freedoms we once had. Yikes, I'm glad I was a child at the time I was.

Count me in as one of those charflamed overprotective moms who always took her son into the bathroom with her. I will never be seen on tv crying my eyes out begging the public to find the person responsible for assaulting my child in the bathroom.

My son is 10, and I still take him in the ladies room with me when my DH isn't there. He doesn't even fight me on it because he knows my stance. And I could care less about dirty looks or disapproving stares from those who don't like it. Also, my DH takes my 7 yr. old daughter in with him if I'm not there.

I live in a Philly suburb and have been hearing about this story. It makes me sick. He is being tried for attempted murder, as well as sexual assualt. She had bruises around her neck from him choking her - I guess that's why she was unconscious. He also beat her pretty badly. :( I do, indeed, hope he "gets his" in prison ( and I hope that Florida scumbag does, too).
