Yet another how's my ADR's?

Someone let me know how my ADR's look? :) I'm a little nervous since my previous Disney dining experiences go something along the lines of ramen on a smuggled hot pot in a cheap motel, my parents wanted to save money. :rotfl: So I jumped at the chance to grab the dining plan.

It's going to be just me (23) and my brother (18) and we just want the emphasis to be on good food. Lively happy environment is good but nothing overwhelming (I read reviews of Whispering Canyon and just went ... :rotfl2: oh no, not for us!)

So here's what I have: LeCellier, Hollywood and Vine (Fantasmic), Chef de France, Coral Reef, Ohana, and the character dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern. I'm hoping Ohana won't be too kiddyish, but I thought it sounded like a lot of fun, and I figured I'd steal the chance to steal at least a couple of pictures at the LTT character dinner.

However, I'm now giving serious thought to dumping Chefs de France and picking up Chef Mickey's breakfast. (If I dump CDF, I have the room to spare on the dining plan, even with two credit character meals). How is Chef Mickeys for adults? Will we enjoy it, or is it more kid based?

Thanks!! :bounce:

I think you would be totally fine at Chef Mickeys and Ohana. Are you doing breakfast or dinner at Ohana? We did dinner there, and for the most part my kids sat at our table. The "activities" seemed to be at the front of the restaurant near the windows. We were seated in the back :(

Me (22), my mom (54) and my dad (56) went to Chef Mickey's for breakfast last Monday and it was wonderful! Hands down my favorite TS meal of the trip; great food and great character interaction. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. :wizard:

How in to clowning around with the characters are you? Now at CM's the characters will definitely clown around with the adults too for the most part. It really is fun.

Le Cellier gets raves reviews! (We haven't been, but only because I can never fit it into our dining plans - too many character meals...)

Last May, we tried Hollywood & Vine for our Fantasmic Dinner Package, and, honestly, we really didn't care for it all. The restaurant was very crowded & very noisy (but not in a good noise kind of way). The tables were so close together, I felt like I was with dining w/ the people next to us. The retro Hollywood decor is cute, but we weren't impressed w/ the buffet at all. The food was just very so-so to us. However, we could have been there on a bad night, and everyone's experiences are different. This year, we're trying Mama Melrose's for our FDP.

We really enjoyed our dinner at LTT! The food was very good (except for the mac & cheese), & the character interaction was wonderful. However, Mickey Mouse isn't at LTT if you're hoping to see him. The characters at LTT are Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip, & Dale.

We also really liked breakfast at Chef Mickey's. The characters were Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip, & Dale. The setting was cool too - in the Contemporary Resort w/ the monorail running through. I'd recommend Chef Mickey's to even adults because it's such a "quintessential" Disney dining experience, & all the popular characters are there.

So, probably, if I were only doing 1 character meal, I'd want to try Chef Mickey's.

I didn't think 'Ohana was "kiddyish" at all. There were coconut races & things like that for the children there, but those activities were strictly for the kids. Where we were seated, we really didn't even notice anything. The view was beautiful! I'm sure ya'll will enjoy it!

We haven't been to either Coral Reef or Chefs de France, but I'd like to try both!

Oh, and character meals (except for CRT) are only 1 TS credit - so maybe you can try both Chefs de France AND Chef Mickey's! ;)

'Ohana is not kiddyish at all. You will enjoy this.

When were you thinking of doing Chef Mickey's: breakfast or dinner? If you are more concerned about the food, I would tell you to skip Chef Mickey's for dinner. It is one dinner buffet that we really disliked food-wise. Even my kids (who were 6 and 10 at the time) didn't care for most of the food. If you are going for character interaction it will be great. Breakfast is also "fine."

I am not a lover of the Liberty Tree Tavern, but others are. Again, it goes back to how your standards are for food. The LTT tastes like something I might throw together at home on an "off" night. Not "spit-out-your-food" bad, but when I got out to dinner, I really don't want Bird's Eye Frozen Carrots and Stouffer's Mac and Cheese.

Thanks everyone for all of your detailed answers! :thumbsup2 Great advice. To answer some earlier questions, I'm thinking about Ohana's for dinner and Chef Mickey for breakfast.

I'm now at about the 60 day window - how tight do you think ADRs get about now? Here's how my vacation plans are going so far - I do have a room reserved with Dreams. Waiting on the final approval from work for the week in June off, flight arrangements, and once that's all set, then I'll put in the deposit and possibly the whole amount on the hotel/tickets package. How urgent is it getting - should I call and make my ADRs right now today , or could they wait until I can get Dreams to do it for me - which should be by the end of this week?

Book your ADR's now! The popular spots, of which most of yours are, go very fast. Your choices sound great. LeCellier (best meal we had @ WDW), Chef Mickey's (very fun breakfast), Ohana's (you will love the dinner), LTT (the food was good and the atmosphere cute - we would eat there again). Hope you get them all!

We've enjoyed Ohana for dinner, as well as H&V (back when they had characters, LOL). We do CM dinner on every trip; its DH's one "must do". The others I can't comment on, since we haven't been there, but they sound yummy! I would book your ADRs today, as you have some popular choices, and can always cancel them if need be.

We are 53 days away and I made our ADRs this morning with no problem - Ohana's,Teppanyaki,50s Prime Time,Coral Reef,Boma and Le Cellier. I was able to reserve most dinners around 6 pm - wanted Ohana's at 7:30, but they couldn't accomodate our large party (of 8) at that time.
Good luck and enjoy.

Dawn

Thanks for the advice again! :)

Made my ADRs and got everything I wanted. Wendy31 - you were right, the character meals I wanted were 1 credit only, so I fit in another reservation for Chefs de France. I think I butchered the pronounciation of most of the restaurants to the poor CM on the phone though :rotfl: You guys were right to make the ADRs early - seating was getting tight for Chef Mickeys and Coral Reef, although I didn't have any problems with any of the other restaurants.

Do any of these restaurants have a dress code? I'm mainly worrying about Le Cellier, Chefs de France, and Coral Reef. Will we be okay sautering in wearing the usual tourist shorts and shirts, or should we change to business casual?

Thanks again - you people know everything. :Pinkbounc

Can't speak for LC or CR, but I have been to Chefs de France 4 times now (last time was last week), and shorts and t-shirts are :thumbsup2 . Have fun!
