well my summer class is almost over, and as annoying as it was, i have 3 extra credits! so i have to write a 3 page paper on a political topic that he gave to us...mine was on homeschooling and should it be regulated by government...i have no clue as to where to start looking for webpages and information on this..can anyone help? THanks !

I believe there are many people on the Dis that homeschool. Maybe if you put in your title the word Homeschool I think you will find a lot of response. Good luck with your homework.

There are so many opinions out there, in the "mainstream" and in the HS comunities.

do you want opinions, or do you want to reseach what is out there and form your own opinion from research?

The opinions range from it should never be allowed, to there should be no government involvement what so ever. I'm sort of in the middle. I like the laws here in GA that ask for some accountability, but yet still give us enough freedom to pick our curriculum, set our own calendar (as long as we meet the 180 days of instruction a yr). In Ga we are required to use a standardized test in 3,6 and 9 grades.

http://www.hslda.org/ has information on the various laws across the Us (it varies greatly from no accountability to requiring affiliation with a licensed private school)

The boards at homeschool.com and
http://www.vegsource.com/homeschool/ are very active if you want to ask the HS comunity.

sha_lyn--thank you so much..basically its only about a 3-4 page paper, so i just need reasons as to WHY and HOW the govt wants to regulate it..and reasons that some parents do not want it regulated
--then at the end i will type my opinion..

i really have no knowledge on the subject, so thats why i had to ask!

You should be able to get a good start from the HSLA site then.
They "report" on laws, legislation, studies etc and then of couse give their (slanted) view. I don't agree with them on everything, and I have heard that they are not dependable when it comes of offering the legal help they promise... ie..they tend to not take on issues that are not on a national level or if they don't involve religous reason to HS. However I think they do tend to reflect the views of a majority of HS'ers.

thank you so much for your help!!

there were so many websites that came up when i searched...so i was so confused :)

searches can be overwhelming. I'm tryign to find info on auto body repair programs for a cousin and I'm having a terrible time. I know the Tech school just up the road offers the program, but I can't find their website.
