yet another FB question ---

So I just noticed something.

When sending a private message on FB, I can re-open the message and often (but not always) see a check mark at the bottom AND the time the message was seen or read!! Wow, how long have they been doing that?

Also, why do only SOME messages show the check? Is it something I clicked on without realizing it?

As ever, I'm sure someone here will know because y'all know everything!

So do you mean, no check mark means they never read it?

I think this is a new thing. And I think that no check means they didn't read it.

Not necessarily. It means that the messenger was up while there was some activity on the computer, but there is no way to tell if it was actually read by the recipient.

If my husband leaves facebook up and someone messages him, and then I log him out so that I can log in, it will show that the message was seen, even though my husband never saw it.
