Yet another dining question...

I just found the site that lists the menus. When viewing the menus for the restaurants I've reserved for my 3-yr-old and myself, I was surprised at the children's menus (mac & cheese, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, etc.).

I assume if we're at a TS buffet dinner, then I can get her food from the adult buffet and not from the kid's buffet?

What about TS non-buffet for dinner? I guess there's not much choice? Order her mac and cheese or a hot dog and share my meal?

If I share my TS meal with her, can I trade in the child's TS for a counter service meal? I'm not trying to cheat, just trying to learn the 'rules' and make sure that she has food choices that she likes.

At a buffet, your child is welcome to eat anything, whether it's from the "kids" section or not. The same is true for family style restaurants, like Garden Grill or Ohana, where they bring out platters of food for everyone to share.

On the dining plan at regular TS restaurants, children 3-9 are required to order from the children's menus. Some have only standard "kids" fare, such as chicken nuggets or macaroni and cheese, but most will have a more "adult" meal, such as steak at Le Cellier or Concourse Steakhouse and fish & chips at Rose & Crown.

If your child would prefer an adult meal, your choice is either to share yours with her or order an adult meal for her and pay OOP for it. If you do this, and have TS credits left over because of it, you do have the option to trade in that TS credit for a CS meal. If you're going during free dining (August 13-September 30), you get an added bonus of a certificate good for 2 snacks, a lanyard and pin or a poster for every TS meal you turn into a CS meal.

Although some would argue it's not the best use of your TS credits to do this, it's probably a better option than ordering her a kids' meal at a TS restaurant that no one will eat. HTH and enjoy your trip!
