Yet Another Delay

I posted a thread a few weeks ago about how long it took to receive my original paperwork to purchase DVC (glitch in computer, etc., blah, blah, blah).
I got it after 3 weeks. We read everything, signed, dated, and returned within one day. They received it Friday the 13th-maybe that's a sign(I checked the FEDEX tracking).
I called my guide today to check on everything, and he said they never received my credit application (it's funny, but when I got the paperwork, I thought it was odd that there was no application. I work in a Credit Union, so I know that whenever you apply for a loan, you have to complete some sort of application). So they're 2-day FEDEXing it to me (we'll see how long it takes).
I gotta be honest, I'm exciting about joining, but my experience so far with the process has been less than pleasant (although everyone I've talked to is as nice as can be). There appears to be a lot of disorganization going on, perhaps because they are so busy?
So now, I still can't make a reservation, because my points won't be banked until the deed is recorded (March use year), and I'm really starting to think that I won't be able to make my ressie until after the 7 month window opens up (at BCV), and I'm not going to get what I want.
I apologize for sounding negative, but I guess I just assumed this would be a smooth transaction, and it has been anything but that from day one.
Any suggestions?

Sheri!! I'm so glad you posted this, because I forgot who you were after you posted last time...I will explain this later. But first, I received all of my paperwork in the mail last Friday. The credit app. was included. We finished everything on Sunday (a pain to find a notary over the weekend, but finally did). So now we're just waiting to send the rest of our down payment in with all of the paperwork. Now here's the good news for you. I mentioned your situation to my guide. When I signed up last Monday, I gave my 500.00 down payment, by Amex, over the phone to my guide (Judy Kaufman). She took down some more information and she then told me I will be receiving my membership number within 2 hours over the phone!!! She was right on the money. I got a call from her, with my number, and I called member services and made my first BCV ressie for April. I too was afraid of your fear, getting in before the 7 month window folks. I explained your situation to her and she told me to tell you to call your guide back and you should have gotten your number THAT DAY. If you have any questions, feel free to email me and I will give you Judy's number if maybe you want to switch guides. But you can get your number NOW. ok? :D

Jillpie: Judy Kaufman has been my guide for several years and she is great! Anytime I have had a question, or when we did an add-on, she was totally efficient. She has helped me more than once in regard to questions, etc. You're going to love having her as your guide and WELCOME. Our DVC membership is the best thing that we ever did.

Sheri~
Sorry to hear about your situation, but as Jillpie said, once you have put down your deposit, in only a few hours this should have gone to Accounting and you should have been able to get your membership ID# and start making reservations!

I just received my membership box from DVC today, and I put my deposit down on Sept. 3rd., so I can understand your frustration. It was my understanding things should have moved along faster, as well. I think it all depends on your Guide.

Thanks, Judy sure is great. Gosh, I hope Sheri gets my post to releave this anxiety. Sheri??

Thanks, guys!
I feel much better. I was just home for lunch, when the FEDEX truck came with my application (BTW, it definitely was NOT in the original paper packet).
I do have a membership number. I even called MS to question when I could make a ressie. They told me that I would have to wait until my deed is recorded and my current year points are banked (March use year) to make a ressie for next June. This is where I'm confused. How did you all make your ressie's? Are they within the same use year? I want to make mine for next June, which would be past my current use year, so maybe that's why I have to wait till my deed is recorded and the points are banked??
Jillpie-I really appreciate your taking an interest and asking on my behalf, that was so nice of you! But I do think that under the circumstances that I do have to wait. Unless someone else can verify otherwise. And congratulations!
I feel like I'm a pain in the you-know-what. I know this doesn't happen to everybody, I've just had a string of bad luck, but I'm still so excited and happy that I'm actually going to be a member. I'll be posting the second I get confirmation of closing, you can "bank" on that!

Sheri

P.S. My guide is very nice, and I know none of this is his or anyone's fault directly. I know there are different departments that handle different phases of the process.

You should be able to make a reservation for next June, but you can't bank (or borrow) until closing.

You can call your guide and ask for some help facilitating the process. It will all work out, but if you want to use banked points to make a reservation, you'll have to wait until closing.

Good Luck! :)

hmmm..interesting. I don't understand why they won't allow you to make ressies when I had no problem. Have you called to confirm this? I wonder if it has any thing to do with the amount you are putting down or anything to do with financing? I don't know, fishing here...anyone know why I could make ressies right away and she can't??
ps. My use year is March too.

Doc, my guide placed an "exception" through to member services to allow me to bank my current points into 2003. So I wonder if her guide could do the same?

I have 175 points, and I need to bank all of them and use all 2003 points to get a 2BR for June. I don't think I can make a partial reservation until my points are banked. I think I am going to call my guide tomorrow and see if he can make an exception for me, also. I think that under the circumstances (all the delays in them getting the paperwork to me), he might be able to accomodate me?
My financing is (I think) not unusual. $500 CC deposit over phone, remaining deposit sent by check (totalling 20%), financing the remainder for 10 years (but plan to pay off sooner).
We'll See! Thanks for all the info!

Sheri:D
