Yet another confusing DME resort airline check in question!

Our flight leaves MCO at 7am. We will be at Saratoga Springs. I think the airline checkin desks open at 5am, right? If so, that doesn't give us enough time to check in.

Could we do our check in and give them our luggage, etc. the day before, just keeping what we need for the next morning in our carry-on? Is that possible?

Or, are we stuck just handling our luggage ourselves and checking in at the airport, which I'd really like to avoid.

I'm afraid to say you will have to lug it on the DME bus and check it yourself at the airport.

or book a later flight. You can't checkin luggage more than 12 hours before your flight and the desk closes at 1:00p. I think the 12 hour rule is an airline (or TSA) rule and not a DME rule. In other words there isn't any wiggle room with the rules.

Thanks. That's what I was afraid of. I tried booking later flights, but the price difference between flying out at 7am and taking any later flight out was over $200 per ticket! I guess we'll just have to do the check in at the airport.

I'm thinking of taking a town car or something back to the airport, though, so that we can maybe get a little later pick up time and a little more help with the luggage. (I've heard that DME can drop off a long way from the check in area and that Sky Caps can be hard to find.) We will have a two year old so we'll have lots of luggage, a stroller, a carseat, etc. We'll need some luggage help!

Can anyone reccomend the best company (service and price) for one way transportation the the airport? Or would a taxi be a good option? Thoughts?

According to the Mears website taxi estimator the estimated fare is $41.75 (plus tip). A towncar would probably be a little more.

The advantage of a taxi is you don't have to commit to a specific time. When you're ready let the hotel get you a cab. If you get up early and want to take DME you don't have to cancel anything.

Thanks!

Just out of curiosity, if we end up going with a taxi, what time would you leave the resort (Saratoga Springs) for a 7am flight, Dec. 23rd?

Well, the towncars pick you up about 2 1/2 hrs before your departure time. So I would think that would be a good time frame for a cab also. You don't want to cut it too close with a young one along and you can find long security lines at the funniest times of day!!
I had the exact same issue with my 7 a.m. flight...but I ended up changing carriers and got a later flight.
