yet another banking/borrowing, help thread!

When we bought BLt in Aug, we got the 2009 points, knew we wouldn't be going back until summer 2010, so we banked them. Of course, add-on itis has hit already, but, I am thinking by carrying those banked points each year, we have 10 years to go over 20 points a year with our 200 point contract. Does that sound right?

I know they use banked points first, so if this year we use the 200 banked points from 09, plus 20 of our 2010 points, we'll have 180 to bank. Use 220 in 2011, have 160 to bank.... etc. Does that make sense?

Yes - if your trip costs 220 points each year, and you have a 200 point contract and banked 200 the first year, you won't run out of the banked points for 10 years.

After that, you can borrow 20 points a year for another 10 years before you actually have to skip a year. A lot can happen in 20 years - doubt you'll be keeping the same pattern that long, LOL.

Bottom line: No need to give in to add-on-itis just yet.

That is exactly right. We are about to buy the 100pt at AKV and I am counting on on having 120pts for 5 years, same philosophy as you...

Thanks everyone. That is exactly what I was hoping you would say!!!! Like you say, a lot can change, so I want to hold off a bit on that add-on itis. Maybe in 20 years I'll be ready to skip a year! I'll have a 23 year old and a 30 year old. Dang......................

Wow - you are a great (and disciplined) planner. We just joined and got the 2009 points, banked them and will use about 2/3 of those banked points for our next trip! Between banking and borrowing I figured we could get through only 3 years before we have to purchase more points. But then... that was the master plan!
