Yet another Bag question thread

Ok, I have no problem carrying a "man bag", aka Murse , but even with little items in it, my back/neck are killing me after a day at the park. It doesn't help that it's leather.

Do any of you have suggestions of what type of small bag to carry around the park that would hold wallets/tickets/aspirin, etc that wouldn't break someones back/neck after a while? Something that's small and doesn't get into the way.

I'm a big fan of the Ameribags, aka the Healthy Back Bag. They make some "manly-er" looking bags as well. I have the classic one in blue and LOVE IT!

Have you thought about just a small backpack? I usually find that two straps are better than one, unless it's a crossbody bag that you can switch from shoulder to shoulder. Ebags.com is a good place to look for all kinds of bags.

Maybe consider a fanny pack. I wear one in the parks and it is totally hands free and carries many items. Also, no back or neck pain.

Another fan of the ameribag healthy back bag it almost looks like a fanny pack you can sling crossways or on shoulder. Not girly at all LOL I even use it to have DGD1 sit on while slung across my shoulders.
It has a nonslip material on the underside of the strap to help keep it in place and comes in a couple different sizes. I use the xsmall in a distressed nylon also water resistant, I have had my camera and iPhone in it, got soaked on splash and all was fine inside

I use the Baggallini Around Town Bagg. It is comfortable, lightweight, does not get in the way, and carries everything I need (wallet, camera, maps, tickets, etc).

Thanks for all the input so far. The ameri bag one sounds/looks good. Might check that one out.

Never thought about a small backpack either. Figured it would be bad on the back. I've never carried one. Although I have one of the sweatshirt ones I bought at DL last Xmas. It came with a hoodie inside of it.

I've thought about a fanny pack (didn't even realize they still made them since 1990's), but didn't know if it would hold everything or not. It's not like I'm carrying what the average woman puts in her purse.

I swear my mom has everything but the kitchen sink in hers. Seems she had everything but handi wipes I remember as a kid growing up. Nothing like having your mom spit in a handkerchief to get dirt off your face.

That ameri bag is neat!! I use a Mickey bag, it's one that goes on one shoulder and I wear it across my body, I just switch sides regularly. I hate carrying around a ton of crap, even my purse that I use daily is smaller than most women's purses, in fact, you could put about 10 on mine in my kitchen sink! LOL I'm not a big bag lady, I'm a little bag lady. LOL

I figure if you are going to be carrying a bag, it's probably better to have two straps holding the thing securely to you and dispersing the weight evenly on both shoulders. Though if you are lugging around heavy objects in it, it can definitely be bad on the back.

Your Mom too? I used to *hate* that as a kid so she'd sneak up behind me...maybe that's why I always have wipes in my bag for my own kids

I just bought an Overland "Taos" bag for our trip next month. You probably won't a bag as large as that particular one but it has a neat zipper that allows it expand for more room width-wise if needed. They have a bunch of great bags, maybe check out this link if you have time...

One more different choice, wear a fishing or photo vest,(similar to one of these http://www.exofficio.com/product_results.aspx?category|mens_outerwear_vests=Vests&category_id=mens_outerwear_vests&cm_mmc=Google-_-Fly%20Fishing-_-Fishing%20Vests-_-fishing%20vest&gclid=CI_TrcDr_ZsCFShRagod-DiV_A ) they have a lot of pockets (mine has 17) of various sizes. Also at bag check you just walk through. Biggest problem is during hot weather.

I always prefer a small backpack, too.

I do find that when I wear my lanyard with pins all day, my neck and back hurt. So much so that I now carefully select only 3 pins at a time to wear each day. They are just too heavy! That might be contributing to the problem.

I agree, only a small back pack will do for me! and or a fanny pack for you men. I hate 1 stap bags, they hurt my neck, and small back packs are the best.
