Hi Annie! You are very observant!! Why, yes, I did change tops. There's a good reason for the change of top... had something to do with not wanting a fashion disaster should the other shirt have gotten wet on Splash and such. Really in the interest of modesty I'll say. But yes, I do change clothes far too often, thus the 4 bags between us!

I'm jumping in to follow your awesome trip report- looks like I'm just in time for your 1st park day!

First of all, I have to say- I have my own Emily (or Em or Mims, as she is called). She is my oldest daughter and will be 14 next month. All 3 of my kids share my love for all things Disney!!

We are a family of 5, so there are too many of us to stay in one of the WL rooms, unfortunately. Hopefully after my 16 yr old son goes off to college in a few years we can enjoy a room at the WL. I just love the lodge. We have eaten at Whispering Canyon for dinner once- but after seeing your breakfast photos, I think we need to eat there for breakfast!

Oh, and the CPA in me LOVES your color-coded spreadsheet!

Did you notice if they still have the lodge tour? We did it in 2010 and it was awesome. They explained the significance of all those details you mentioned. I wish they had in depth tours of all the resorts because I found it incredibly interesting.

I have FP plus for my AKL stay but that's at the end of my trip. Bummer! No FP Plus for the BWV.

Hi Mary Ellen! When I first glanced at your comment I thought why is she asking about House of Pancakes! Obviously I had food on my brain. Ok, now that I get it... yes, we visited Hall of Presidents and it was a nice, cool, refreshing attraction given the heat.

Em's top is compliments of Forever21 while my skort was from the World of Disney store so yes, that is a Mickey at the hem line!

Yes, Mickey Waffles - sounds like they sway you too!

I didn't know that they do lodge tours but that would have been fun to do. I'm sure there are a lot of stories behind everything selected to be on display all over the resort including the Indian head-dresses and the artifacts.

Love all the WL photos! It is one of my favorite resorts, along with your next resort AKL.

For such a hot and humid day, you both look wonderful in your photos. No one melting yet.

Bummer about missing some of your FP+. I agree, as much as I like planning, I think FP+ takes it a little too far. I want to have things planned but have flexibility to change plans on the fly. I do like the magic bands though, so nice to not have to dig around for keys and cards.

Did you hear that they are linking the photopass to the magic bands so all you have to do now is get your magic band touched by the photopass photographer? I like this, now I don't have to keep up with all those cards and hope that none get lost. I assume that photopass+ will work the same way.

Hey there Christine! As much as I liked WL - I LOVE AKL.

I tried to choose the FP+ options so that the least desired attraction/ride coincided with lunch or after we left the park. I figured if we hit up 3 of the 4 options I'd be happy. But yes, it does take some advance planning and if like me you find yourself preoccupied, it doesn't work.

yep, the advantage of the bands was not having to get a card out every time you entered the park or your hotel room. I hadn't heard about the photopass link but that is awesome.

Nice update. magic kingdom..sad for you to have to leave that resort.. However I think you'll be back and you still have lots days left yummy big Mickey waffle.

They gave you a huge portion of scrambled eggs!
We ate breakfast at WCC when we stayed at the WL in February. I had a gluten free Mickey waffle and it was delicious.
The waiter was really nice, too. He had plenty of time to chat, since the dining room was almost deserted.

I checked out your dining review of the Territory Lounge because we plan to eat dinner there one of the nights of our December trip. I warned my DH about the flatbread. I wonder if the onion soup is good there.

We went to WDW in August one time, and we will never go in the hot summer again. It was too hot and humid even for us, and we are used to humidity in the summer.

Hi there! I believe that those eggs were my only protein for awhile but yeah, looks pretty massive! I didn't know they had a gluten free option but that makes sense. Glad it was good.

I bet that soup is good. I love the smoky Portobello soup at AP which is such a small portion for the $ so that onion soup is probably a great option.

Ugh! Yes, WDW in August can be brutal. We don't get humidity often in Southern CA so this is brutal.

Actually, I was on Wikipedia when I saw that. Ha ha! Brenda Disney, that has a nice ring. If only!! Actually, that would be a great rumor to start... let's go with that.

I did the double cut about two years ago. Got it cut short and went back a few weeks later and went even shorter. I would maybe do that now but I want to make sure it has time to grow out again before the wedding.

I just saw a video for another Diser who had her hair cut about 14" at WDW at one of the salons at Coronado Springs. I was aghast at first but then I saw the final result and it was completely adorable. BTW, Em likes her shorter, shorter length. It does look good so what do I know. I suppose with the prospect of a wedding looming in the near future being a little cautious is good.

Nope, I have never met anyone who can confirm that the geyser actually erupts. Probably sounds effects and urban legend combined you know.

That shirt would be the non-Disney endorsed fashion merch. Simpler works in that case.

I wasn't a fan of the magic bands before our trip since I love whipping our my AP at the entrance and FP machines but I have to say... I'd rather use the MB now. Obviously I've bought into the convenience so it speaks to my lazy side!

Loved the update!

Waiting for the camera lens to unfog lost countless photo ops for me. Even just going from the busses sometimes had it fogged back up again-and the lens was capped and inside my camera bag.

Cute outfits for today! Love your little Mickey touch on your skirt. Had to laugh at your HOP stop to cool off. DD and I did the same during trip 2.

Yep, I can totally relate to the fogged up lens being the culprit for photo op fails! Argh!

Funny story about HOP....

A few years ago my DH (then DBF) and I were in WDW... He hadn't been to the world in a few years and wanted to see the Hall of Presidents. Snooozeville if you ask me... So I decided to tell him it was closed for refurbishment when it wasn't. I figured he'd catch on when we walked by and it was open AND when people were pouring out the exit, but he didn't!!! The trip went on and I forgot all about it (and so did he!).

Eventually I confused and now I have to show proof of any refurbishments! But when we finally did go see HOP, DH had the nerve to say as we were walking out... "I just took a great nap!" Ugh!!!

Hi Amy! Ha ha ha!! Your confession back fired. Just goes to show you can keep some secrets from him.

We've not done Hall of Presidents the last two trips and I'm not sure why...Mark enjoys doing that (it would have been a good place to get out of the heat or the rain).

Thanks Kathy! HoP was our time out from the heat. And no, I would NEVER take a flash photo indoors there. I had my settings on my camera set to low light something or another.

LOL... I seem to always get stuck behind people with fat heads. Passenger side it is!

I'm glad to hear that since I know someone who was diagnosed with MS 15 years ago but in the last 5 years has done exceptional with new meds. I wish you the best as they figure that out and get you on your therapeutic doses.

I wish! I wanted to rent DVC points for SOMEWHERE deluxe, after falling in love with OKW on my last trip. But I had to wait at work for a vacation bid and wait for my time to be approved and by then, since it's the food and wine festival, they were all booked up. So it's Pop Century again for me!

Disney details...that's what keeps pulling me back again and again! I LOVE IT!

That cracks me up that you aren't used to the super heat! I somehow NEVER end up going when it's cold. It's been September...August...then July! So basically hotter and hotter. Now I'm going in October and I hear it can be very hot and also can be cold. THAT should make packing fun!

Did you guys manage to get paper fp's along with FP+? I worry about that. It seems so...restrictive and freeing at the time. Like it's great that I don't have to be rushing with hordes of people to the big ticket rides at rope drop, but on the other hand...I know I could get A LOT more fast passes just running around doing it on my own and this way makes it hard to coordinate meeting up with people who are staying offsite but still want to go to the parks with you. I'm very curious to hear how you like it overall!

Your room at WL looks beautiful - we made a couple stops here for lunch and dinner one night and it really got us excited for our stay there in January. However we will be in the DVC section and the rooms are a bit different. I do LOVE how Disney is getting away from the yucky comforters, it brightens the rooms, looks fresher/cleaner and is more sanitary..... Although I always ditched them in the closet or in the corner somewhere....

The Territory Lounge is on our list- it sounds delish. I haven't got caught up on your dining reviews yet though... Also YAY for Mickey Waffles!! We have WCC for a dinner one night on our trip but I'm not sold on it yet....

Oh and I hear you on the heat and humidity.... 97 degrees when we were down there, us Northerners were melting as well, and my fidgety kids would never sit through 23 minutes of AC errr I mean presidents. Luckily For the afternoon pool breaks and cooler nights... kinda....

Love the look of WL! Reminds me of a log cabin in the North Carolina mountains! I'd love to stay there but I really want to give BLT a try of course and then AKL CL too! It's funny how much your taste can change in just a few short years. Just last year we stayed in Pop and this year we stayed Moderate and Deluxe. Haha!

As for Hall of Presidents...that's a nice place to stop in a get a nice cool breeze going. Jason loves that show but I always fall asleep watching it. I even remember going there for a band trip in high school and the teacher asked if we learned anything and then asked who was sleeping. The entire band raised their hand!!! Too funny I know. But it's nice to take Olivia to that show when we pull her out of school like in previous years. Now we can take her anytime we want to!

Quick hijack..Quick question regarding the Magic Bands…could you have used Em’s and vice versa? I’m just wondering how it knows that the band you have on actually belongs to you. What’s to stop someone from giving theirs to someone else to use for the day? With the cards you had to use your fingerprint so there was no way to “borrow” someone else’s.

PS, my bday trip is in February. We just decided since we are closer than usual, we should definitely go down and get ourselves to a Halloween party & food and wine. I'm very excited about YC, especially bring so close to epcot.

I think they were a bit of a weakness for me when we went last time. I looove the Mickey head waffles. I'm just glad we didn't eat too many places that had them!

Love coral on you! Lucky girl! You can pull off pink and coral!! Nice! I'm impressed by the carrying of the purse, I just can't do it unless it's a cross body bag. I take my baggallini, but always looking for something cuter and something I wouldn't worry about getting wet or a little dirty since you have to put your purse/bag on the floor for most of the rides.

Hall of Pres's! Mackie fought me on that one, until after, then she thought it was pretty cool. Silly girl! I love HoP!! But I'm nerdy/patriotic that way, I actually get a little choked up watching it and The American Adventure in Epcot. The Voices of Liberty do it to me too. Yup! That's how nerdy/patriotic I am.

I was once apart of the Women's Republican Club here in the Austin area, and we went to the Capitol for Rep. day, it was the coolest thing to see all those women dressed in Red.
When we were about to walk into the House of Reps. I was so excited to walk in there and watch everyone in action, my sister then turned to me and said, "This is like your Disney World isn't it?" Since I hadn't been to WDW yet, I said in my most five year old like voice, "YES!!" And at that moment, it truly was.

Can't wait to see what y'all are up to next!! You and Em always look like you are having such a great time. I think Mackenzie and I do really well together when the boys (DH and DS21) aren't around, I hate to say it, but I think it's true. The guys stress us out! I have a tendency to be more uptight than I should, but that's easily remedied once I step foot into Orlando airport. It's time to turn into a kid again!!

I have a survey in my email inbox about the MBs but now that I've heard rumors that they will integrate the MBs with the FP system I don't suppose they need my feedback on that one!

Yes, once we missed our window we lost our Fp+ reservations. Bummer! But it was our first park day for such a long trip we hoped we'd have an opportunity to get back to those attractions.

No HoP for you guys?? Here I'll give you the condensed version.... We had a revolution, then there was a Civil war, some other historical events and then all 43 Presidents were acknowledged for roll call and the we had a patriotic finale!!

Most of the time I go by my photos to put things in order and figure out what we did as well. It's the best timeline I have. Sorry about the missing photos. I should have done that last trip when we had another family for our AK day.

Disney doesn't make it easy to choose since there are so many fabulous resorts. My favorite may be AKL though. (BLT for the spacious rooms and proximity to MK is always going to be a favorite as well.) Who am I kidding, I love them all.

For entry into the park, no, you can not use someone else' magic band since you still need to scan your finger. When you go through the gates it does flash your name. I'm sure there's other info embedded in the bands behind the scenes.

We have not done HOP in a while either but it is a nice place to cool off (and nap for some).

Being from NH I have a hard time with the afternoon heat down there so it is a nice place for me to cool off for a bit. I do enjoy the show also. Maybe we will see it in a couple of weeks.

Love coral on you! Lucky girl! You can pull off pink and coral!! Nice! I'm impressed by the carrying of the purse, I just can't do it unless it's a cross body bag. I take my baggallini, but always looking for something cuter and something I wouldn't worry about getting wet or a little dirty since you have to put your purse/bag on the floor for most of the rides.

Coral is my new favorite color. I never wore pink until a couple years ago since my mom never dressed me in pink being a red head and all it clashed she said. Mom's know everything you know!

I prefer a tote or a small backpack in the parks since I tend to carry a sweater for the a/c attractions, my camera, and my girlie stuff. I wish I could travel lighter.

Hall of Pres's! Mackie fought me on that one, until after, then she thought it was pretty cool. Silly girl! I love HoP!! But I'm nerdy/patriotic that way, I actually get a little choked up watching it and The American Adventure in Epcot. The Voices of Liberty do it to me too. Yup! That's how nerdy/patriotic I am.

Anyone who has read my last TR (I had a quiz at the end) knows that the American Adventure is my favorite Americana attraction ever. I still cry every time. Starting at MLK, I have a dream...

I was once apart of the Women's Republican Club here in the Austin area, and we went to the Capitol for Rep. day, it was the coolest thing to see all those women dressed in Red.

Seriously I bet that was a memorable sight.

When we were about to walk into the House of Reps. I was so excited to walk in there and watch everyone in action, my sister then turned to me and said, "This is like your Disney World isn't it?" Since I hadn't been to WDW yet, I said in my most five year old like voice, "YES!!" And at that moment, it truly was.

Can't wait to see what y'all are up to next!! You and Em always look like you are having such a great time. I think Mackenzie and I do really well together when the boys (DH and DS21) aren't around, I hate to say it, but I think it's true. The guys stress us out! I have a tendency to be more uptight than I should, but that's easily remedied once I step foot into Orlando airport. It's time to turn into a kid again!!

You are so kind with your comments. And I completely get the guys traveling with you changes the dynamics of travel. My DH is far more laid back and vacation for him is different than my vision of vacation. I would drive him crazy with all the activities.

on Mickey Waffles at WCC!!!

Breakfast looks great, and how wonderful that Jeffro was working. Love the picture at the end with the Mickey ears!

The Wilderness Lodge looks gorgeous, inside and out!!! We have yet to step foot in there, but this is the resort that Mark and I want to check out the most. Not necessarily stay there since our hearts lie somewhere else, but tour.

Love the first picture of you and Em in front of the castle where you are being photobombed by a baby and his dad. They start 'em young, don't they!

Nice pictures from Hall of Presidents. I considered watching this in July, but we didn't. It has been quite a few years, and the boys have never been in. Which is kind of a shame because both boys really love history, but I just can't sell this over Big Thunder or Space Mountain!

Yes, once we missed our window we lost our Fp+ reservations. Bummer! But it was our first park day for such a long trip we hoped we'd have an opportunity to get back to those attractions.

No HoP for you guys?? Here I'll give you the condensed version.... We had a revolution, then there was a Civil war, some other historical events and then all 43 Presidents were acknowledged for roll call and the we had a patriotic finale!!

Bummer about the FP+ reservations... I was hoping if you missed them, you could reclaim them later.

Great... now you've ruined it for me... LOL I never would have guessed that's what it was about.
