YES Tickets Question

I've been seeing a lot of references to these tickets, but I'm so confused! :confused3 Is it open to anyone with a child age 5-18? If so, how many additional adult tickets can be bought for this? How does it work? Is there an official thread I can read about for these? The thread that I found using the Search function was like 2 years old. Help please!! :goodvibes

I'll try to answer as best as I can. There has to be a class available that your child is eligible to take when you are there. The classes are only at certain times of the year. My girls are taking a class in Sept. and I was able to buy discounted tix for them, my dh, myself and our other child who is old enough to need a ticket but not old enough for a class. One parent has to attend with children under 13.

For us, the savings is $410 :cool1:

From what I have read, it is for children in elementary, middle and high school. Only 1-2 classes per week apply to any given age group and once they're filled they are closed.

I believe two immediate family adults (parents) can sign up for discounted tickets with one child taking a course. One parent can chaperone the event (in fact I believe you MUST stay if the child is under 13. 13 and over, a parent can stay, but you can opt not to, but you must be there to sign them in).

The other question I've seen is what happens if the course is cancelled because they couldn't fill it - you won't lose your tickets, you would just use them as you would have regardless of the class.

Also, when you fill in the form, make sure the date you give them as your arrival date really is your set arrival date, because you won't be able to pick them up any earlier than that.

Hope that helps with some of the basics. I signed my DD up for the Marine Careers at Epcot - she's not sure what to think - is it a fun event or am I putting her to work for savings??? :rolleyes1

Maybe this is a silly question but what happens if you purchase the tickets and sign your child up for a class that ends up being cancelled if they don't have enough participants?
Also, how many additional tickets can be purchased? Thanks!

I think if they cancel, they will try to get you in another class if you would like but it does not affect the price you paid in terms of your discounted tickets. I have read conflicting info on what happens if YOU don't go to the class so I wouldn't risk that. Their fine print says they can void your tickets :scared1:

You can only buy tickets for your immediate family (mom, dad, kids) but I'm not sure the limit on kids.

Thank you. We would participate in the class of course. I was just wondering if your tickets are still valid if they have to cancel your class. I've read how these tickets can't be upgraded or changed in anyway.

Right, they can't be upgraded or changed.

I wasn't trying to imply you wouldn't go to the class but life happens. Kids get sick or you oversleep or any number of things that could happen. Just something to at least be aware of :)

I don't believe there is a limit on the # of kids.

In our case, we have DD11 signed up for the class & my wife will be her chaperone. DD6 didn't have any classes available the week we are going to be there (she was really interested). All 4 of us were able to purchase the tickets. We had to enter ALL of our information, and then there comes a point in the registration where you select which people in your party will actually attend.

I was the one who almost goofed up the arrival date :rolleyes1 We had originally planned on a 2-day ticket with WPFM, then decided 3 days would work once we got the Y.E.S. discount. And as we were registering, the Mrs. suggested adding the 4th day because it was so cheap. As a result, we're arriving sooner than we originally planned :)

Basically, you go here for the overview of the program
http://www.disneyyouth.com/individual-enrollment/overview/

Then click on PROGRAMS on the left.On the program page, choose WDW and then it will list all the programs through fall. You can click on LEARN MORE to read more about each class. Click SIGN UP to go to registration page. On this page, you will be able to see which classes are still open. Put in your dates at the top of the page to see dates during your trip. Choose the class you want and click CONTINUE. You will then be able to list family members and ages. Hit CONTINUE and you will be on a page where you check who will attend the class. Hit CONTINUE and you will be on the ticket order page. Choose the tickets you want and click CONTINUE and you will get a total. You can do all these steps without actually finishing registration. This is also the page where you enter payment info if you are ready.

Does anyone know if there's a limit on the number of adult tickets? In our party we have ds13, plus my mom and uncle. Also, can you get more than a 5 day PH? Thanks :happytv:

We were thinking of doing a class for our DD in Sept. The savings would have been great but, I wanted add the dining plan (not free dining) to our stay. I was told I had to buy an extra set of base tickets for each of us to add it. Well, that ate up any savings we would have gotten.:sad1: Just wanted to let you know, it would not be a savings with DP unless you are DVC or AP.

Never mind, I found the answer to these, 2 parents or adult chaperones, and up to 8 day park passes.

Right, and you can only get tickets for immediate family of the child(ren). So parents and siblings only. They do let grandparents get them if they are taking children as their guardian.

I plan on reading that other thread that was posted. But I just had some quick questions.

1. How do they handle the tickets if you already have an annual pass? My children would enjoy something like this, but we don't need the tickets. Would the price be discounted to only the cost of the class?

2. Next year I am planning on taking my son and several of his friends on a Disney trip. They will be a combination of 17-18 year olds. Can I sign up children who are not mine for the program?

which brings me to my final question....

3. The trip is a graduation trip, so these boys will be between college and HS. I know my son would love the Animal Kingdom YES program, but I don't see that program available under the individual programs. But I do see it under the College YES program if you have a group of 10. So would the boys be able to take the College YES program?

Thanks.

1. Unfortunately, everyone in your party has to purchase a ticket package to participate. They used to have an option for APs but not anymore.

2. You would be considered the boys' guardian in that case and could sign them up.

3. You would need 10 kids to sign up for group enrollment. If it is summer between high school and college, I would think they would qualify for the college program, but I would check with YES.
