Yes! Michael Vick Indicted

Here in southeastern VA we've been hearing about this for weeks and weeks.

Want to know why it took so long? Because the local District Attorney DID NOTHING!!!! He sat on the information and resources he had, went on vacation, and who knows what else.

It takes a little longer when federal authorities had to do ALL the work. The local authorities did little/nothing to help them.

Thank you for the info. I was afraid that the whole affair would be swept under the rug. I'm glad to see it wasn't beacuse I haven't heard anything in quite awhile. I hope all involved, serve serious prison time and see how brutal the term rape stand can be.

We worried about that too...but when the feds were here (for the second time) a few weeks ago, we figured something would come of it.

There were three other people named in the indictment...none of them were his cousin who lived in the house.

Tonight on the news they said something like that house, the whole grounds, was specifically designed to accommodate dog fighting.

I tried to search for "Bad Newz Kennels" to see if they still had a website, but it's apparently been shut down. Unfortunately, I did find another pit bull website that I know is for fighting. Why can't those be shut down!?!?!?!?!

hopefully this is start of it.

Well, The NFL commish has precedent for suspending Vick prior to conviction (re. Pacman Jones). If this is true, and there seems to be an ocean of evidence, I hope Vick never touches a football again. The only exception should be when he stars in the documentary version of "The Longest Yard". However I doubt Goodell will drop the NFL hammer too hard. As a previous poster said, there is a convicted drunk driving murderer playing for the Rams.:sad2:

Goodell seems to be carrying a bigger stick than Tagliabue did. And, he's willing to use it. :thumbsup2

I live outside Cincinnati and the Bengals have had so many players arrested this year that I think there are more on the team with legal issues than without. We are waiting now to see if one of the players will play after being suspended last year. From what the press is saying here, with reference to Bengal arrests, the NFL is not tolerating the same things that the NBA is. It wouldn't surprise me if Vick was done based on what they are saying here regarding DUI's and drug abuse. It seems to me that what they have on Vick is worse.

I hope it all crumbles in around him. He definately deserves it!

We have two rescue dogs and one is a pit mix. She is the sweetest, smartest most personable dog I know.

My son WAS a Vick fan until all his bad press started -- the airport fiasco, flipping off the fans...But since the dog fighting thing, he has removed all things Vick from his room and refuses to wear his jersey. He says he wants to throw the jersey away, b/c no one would even want to buy it in a garage sale. He can't phathom how anyone could ever do this to an animal--especially a dog like one we love and share our house and lives with. He wants his heroes to be good role models. I'm proud of my boy!

I like your son! What is your pit mixed with? Ours is a Sharpei/pit mix.

he's in good company, a lot of Falcons fans are calling for all Vick jerseys to mailed back to the front office in protest. :thumbsup2

he's got no support left in Atlanta, it's time for McKay to figure out how to release this scumbag and distance the club from him as soon as possible.

NIKE TO DROP VICK?

A source with contacts inside of shoe-manufacturing giant Nike tells us that the sponsorship of Mike Vick will be coming to an end, in light of his indictment on federal conspiracy charges.

Per the source, Nike won't move immediately to axe Vick, but that the company will pursue a mutual parting of the ways with the embattled Falcons quarterback.

The Humane Society pressed Nike several weeks ago to cut ties with Vick, but Nike refused.

For a long, long time, the only football people I recognized were O.J. Simpson and Refrigerator Perry (forget his real name.) Then my son got a kid-crush on Michael Vick, so I know who he is, too.

I'm one for three. Have to stop recognizing football people.

I could never understand why he kept dragging his feet.

It's about time ....

I like your son! What is your pit mixed with? Ours is a Sharpei/pit mix.

We aren't sure what she's mixed with. Our best guess is a boxer or possibly some type of pointer. I'd love to see what your Sharpei/Pit looks like!

Our pitty mix doesn't have an aggressive bone in her body. In fact our neighbor's Shepard tore her up last year when the Shepard got out of her yard and into ours. Roxie just rolled over and was very submissive, and couldn't understand why her "friend" from across the fence wouldn't play. She defintely has the strength to hold her own, but just does not have that kind of temperament. I hate to think what they have to do to those dogs to make them fighters. It just makes me sad and angery.

I'm sure when my son grows up he'll do his best to be a good role model to others--but he first has to decide of he's going to be a rock star like Bon Jovi or in the NFL. He's 11 and has all the dreams of an 11 year old. I love it!

This story is so horrible, it makes my blood boil.

I think every business associated with him should dump him like yesterdays trash. I hope this ruins him, he is a monster. (and anyone else involved)

You know, we look back in history and cannot believe slave owners actually treated people as property. I hope the day comes when treating animals with zero respect because they are 'property' is seen in the same light...as a shameful, ignorant thing of the past.

at least one of three never killed anything besides a buffett.

Just saw on a newsbreak how he killed his "losing" dogs by hosing them down and electrocuting them. :sad2: :sad1: May he meet a similar fate some day.

After seeing this cruel sports aftermath up close, it sickens me. The neighbors behind us (we live in a typical burb subdivision) were keeping the fighting pit bulls belonging to their daughter's boyfriend. 4 fighting males and a constantly pregnant and starving female.

The female was kept nearest to us. We would often throw milkbones over the fence to her - you could see her ribs protruding through her skin. 3 of the males were vicious and would lunge for us when we came in our backyard (they were chained with a thick chain and we have a chainlink fence.) The other male desperately wanted to get away and would often jump our fence in the middle of the night, his chain hanging him by the neck from our fence. DW Lauri, who is trained in handling aggressive dogs, would go out there and save him, climbing the fence and lifting him over. We didn't dare take him in because 1) we didn't know these people, and 2) no matter how well Lauri handles aggressive dogs, you can't predict these dogs.

The boyfriend would show up daily and inject the dogs with something. On the weekends they would put them in a car. The would come back the next day covered in blood, with poorly set broken limbs. :sad1:

We tried going to the police but were never taken seriously. When a local news station did a story on pit bull fighting making it out to the burbs, Lauri contacted the reporter and told him what we had seen going on behind us.

Long story short, after constant survelience and videotaping done from our kitchen, even getting the license plate of the car taking the dogs away - the police were encouraged by the reporter to take this seriously and at least one dog ring in our city was shut down. :thumbsup2

:sad2: :sad2: As long as there is a segment of culture that validates such things, this kind of cruelty will continue. Mike Vick is a good poster boy for the problem, but he is the tip of the iceberg.
