Okay this is kind of embarrassing but has anyone else been addicted to..... nose spray???? I swear. I had a very bad cold about 3 weeks ago and I had to use it. I finally stopped using it during the day and would just use it at night and I think it worked. I have not been "stuffy" for the past day and a half. Do they have nose spray addicts anonymous

Has this ever happened to anyone or am I the only freak

This happened to me one time and I had a VERY bad addiction!!!! I ended up having to go to my doctor and get a nasal inhaler to help keep my passages as open as possible. I had to suck on Hall's the whole time I was going through withdrawal!!! It is a very nasty addiction that you can get hooked on if you don't watch it. I had been using for approximately a month before I did anything about it - VERY VERY VERY BAD!!!!!

I've heard and read that that happens. Glad you both got things turned around. I imagine it was frustrating for awhile.

I was addicted to nasal spray about 20 years ago. It took about two days to get over that stuffiness that happens because of the nasal spray.

I have a cousin who is so addicted to nasal spray that he uses a bottle per day. Hard to believe but true.

I only use nasal spray if I have a bad cold and just can't stand that feeling of not being able to breathe through my nose.

Oh that is bad Kath!!!!! It actually does something to your passages inside. That's why they tell you only use if absolutely necessary. It took me about 3 weeks to fully come down off of it. I had a VERY bad case of addiction.

There have been a few times when I so wanted to use it again but I knew how horrible it was for me to try and come down off of it that I just don't do it. Instead I revert to using Vics and stuffing that up my nose (although they say not to but sometimes I just CAN'T stand being stuffed up and I wanna sleep)!

I know it's bad, 99. He knows he needs to break the addiction but he is undergoing chemotherapy right now and he just doesn't have the energy to cope with two unpleasant things at the same time

'Bounce back' can be tough to overcome. Always be careful with OTC meds.
