I want an IPOD. No particular reason, I just want one, and since I have my no-smoking money saved up, I'm gonna buy one.

Here's the dilemma:

IPOD Nano is the new one -
1.5 oz
1.6" x 3.5" x .27"
4G (1000 songs)
black and engravable
$249

IPOD regular one -
5.9 oz
2.4" x 4.1" x .63"
20G
white
$299

Anyone have one? Feedback? Input?

Thanks!

The Nano is slick, very very slick. That being said, I have the 20gb regular white iPod. Ultimately, in all my spare time  ;) I hope to burn just about my entire CD collection onto my Ipod. The Nano just would not be big enough for that.

Congrats on no smoking, and enjoy whichever one you decide on.

I have the regular one. I don't think I've seen the nano version. Maybe I have though and just don't know it.

A great resource I've been using is ilounge.com. It has very in-depth reviews, discussion boards, articles. Awesome.

There have been reports - and you'll see them on that site, about the screens cracking on the new Nano.

I have a mini and think it is just the right size. Not too big, not too small. I have approx. 950 songs plus 5 audiobooks on it. I may eventually give it up and get the Nano...but I'm waiting to hear the new announcement from Apple next week....maybe an iPod that plays videos. We'll wait and see.

I get a regular iPod...the $300 one.
unless you really want to "cute tiny one"
I mean ...16 extra gig for $50?

I have over 1300 songs on my 20gig Creative player...that's just over 6gig used.

my mother has a mini, a shuffle, and now a nano. I believe they are phasing out the mini's...to make way for all nanos...the old iPods and iPod Photos are now "the same thing".

I guess it all depends on what style you like and how much music, realistically, you'll need to store.

congrats on quitting btw...great way to spend your money now!

We bought DD a Mini 2.5 weeks ago for her birthday. Of course two days after her birthday, Apple releases the Nano.... But DD loves her pink Mini.

DS ordered a Nano 2 weeks ago, the Fed EX man just delivered it 10 minutes ago. He got the black one, with the free laser engraving.

If you are a college student or a teacher, you can can them cheaper at the Apple Store. Just click on the Education link at the left.

Oh no....now I have to wait til next week. Wait, do I really need one that plays videos?

I really really really want to order one!

I got a nano for my birthday. It holds 1000 songs and was $249. It is amazingly small, and I can slip it into my front pocket unnoticed. I am not a huge music person, so I think it will be plenty big for me.

I talked to a guy yesterday at the store who said they are almost impossible to find right now, and accessories are still 2 to 2 1/2 weeks away.

What kind of accessories would you need? I mean, it comes with everything it HAS to have, no?

It comes with everything it needs to run, but there are numerous accessories you can buy for it. The machine charges right through your computer, but if your computer is not available, you have to buy a charger that plugs into the wall ($30) - these are universal, so you shouldn't have trouble finding one.

The main accessory I am looking for is the nano tube - a colored case that protects the nano. They scratch easily, so I really want one. For the interim, I am using the protective plastic that came with it.

Cool. Thanks for the info. So I'll look for the nano tube as well. I'm not going to spend that kind of money and have it scratched!
