Yep, I took a picture of that (9100 total) COMPLETED 9/1

AWW the Captain Jack pictures are so adoarable!!! pirate:
nice lightning hat :thumbsup2 haha

red shirt...:lmao: defanitly somethin that would happen to my dad...and he would have the same reaction as you

how was the food at captain jack's?? always said we were gonna eat there but never did

The food was pretty good but if it says spicy, they mean SPICY!

If you do go, request a window seat so you can stare at the water when you're eating.

I think you should post the read shirt picture!! There is nothing offensive about it, you were simply having your picture taken by your wonderful wife!!:lmao:

I think my meal was good, it was a chicken and rice thing (spicy! but delish!) But I think the best part was the adult beverages we had there! SO good!:thumbsup2

What a great Pirate meeting your boys had. I have never watched that show, but it looks like fun.

I'm trying to figure out how to post a video on here but I have a short clip I took with the camera of the sword fights with the kids. I'll get it up eventually I promise!

Sunday June 7th Day 8 on our 10 day vacation. The morning started out just as any perfect morning in Disney World would. The sun was shinning, the birds were singing and we were exhausted. This trip was to be all about things we haven’t done yet either because we didn’t have time or we just didn’t know about them. The big one on our list was defiantly SOARIN’! If you remember, we tried the whole fastpass thing only to find out that if you don’t enter the park that day, the fastpass machine won’t give you a valid fastpass! When we came home last year, everybody we spoke to asked us 2 things. 1-Did you get on Toy Story Mania? and 2- Did you try Soarin’?

Last year we received the oddest looks when the answer was no to both, this year we were determined to change that. We woke up early with the determination and dedication needed to wait almost an hour, intentionally, for a ride that only lasts a few minutes. By 10am we were awake, caffeinated, fed, and out the door. We knew it was going to be a good day when these guys waited just to welcome us outside the Beach House.

dis1542.jpg

And I had heard a lot about these guys but didn’t really remember them from last year.

dis1543.jpg

And they were EVERYWHERE.

dis1544.jpg

We enter in through the International Gateway and it just takes my breath away how everywhere you look could be potential for a WDW postcard.

Looking at the sign, I wanted to spend more time a the Showcase but that would have to wait.

dis1552.jpg

dis1553.jpg

dis1554.jpg

Than we came upon it
dis1555.jpg

There it was, just steps away. Soarin’. We step up to the entrance and see the 50 minute wait time. Yes, it’s a long time to stand in line with two little guys but it had to be done. First we got fastpasses so we could come back if we needed to step out of line. Next we step up to the queue and I was surprised to see how empty it was.

dis1556.jpg

My first thought was that maybe it wouldn’t be so bad after all. 50 minutes might just turn out to be 20 minutes. Nope. 50 minutes was pretty darn accurate. BUT, when we got into line, Disney surprised us with some virtual games to distract us from looking at our watches the whole time. Some people I spoke with on this said that this is all new and wasn’t there 2 years ago when they went. What I’m talking about is these large projection screens that fill the hallway. There are multiple games you play while you wait. The games are played by the crowd either moving left and right to control your character (a bird) flying through the mountains, waving to pop balloons, and other adventures that require everyone’s participation.

Here’s what it looks like.

Yep that was me in the Phillies shirt. We really had a good time with it all and the time really flew by.

NOTE TO DISNEY: Do more queue’s like that one and people won’t complain about long lines even in peak season!

In between games there is a few minutes where nothing is going on which left the adults talking about how much fun that was (and how goofy we all looked) and the boys got to relax and play on their Nintendo DS’s.

dis1573.jpg

A few minutes later and we are all up and playing again

dis1582.jpg

When the line finally moved us down past the games we entered into a trippy kinda hallway that looked like the creator was either on some good meds, or was a genius at marketing because I was really getting excited.

dis1584.jpg

dis1587.jpg

Than we read the sign and I got a little nervous

dis1591.jpg

I hate heights. I shake on the top of an 8 foot ladder. I still do it, but I’m just not fond of heights. With a deep breath, we move on. Heights or no heights, we are getting on this ride!
We strap the boys in and buckle up. Mommom Ginny is now looking at me asking “Exactly what does this do? “ When I told her that we would be going up in the air, she went a little pale…..yea, she’s not a big fan either. So, with a slight yelp from Mommom Ginny we were lifted up into the clouds and before we knew it, we were magically seeing the country from our high tech hang glider.

SPOILER ALERT!!! IF YOU’VE NEVER YET RIDDEN SOARIN’ PLEASE SKIP PAST THE NEXT GROUP OF PICTURES!!!!! THIS IS A RIDE YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE FIRST AND REMEMBER IT THROUGH PICTURES LATER!!!!!

SPOILER OVER, YOU CAN LOOK NOW

We came out of there with huge grins on our faces telling the people in the queue above our heads just how awesome that was! Totally worth the wait. Next year, we will be on that at least 2 more times! By now it’s 11:30 and we all get the urge to get something in our stomachs, and what luck we are already at a food court. The pickings weren’t really what we were looking for but the drinks count as a snack credit. We grabbed a few snacks and sodas and head out. Now, if you are just joining us I have a no food porn policy in effect but I will show you around a little…….

I still wonder just how many people look up to take notice of the hot air balloons hanging from the ceiling. I love the little things.

We stepped outside after a quick little snack and even with a few clouds hovering over us, it’s all still perfectly beautiful.

dis1602.jpg

dis1603.jpg

Soarin’ wasn’t on the kids agenda (but I’m sure it will be next time) so we asked them if they could do one ride right now what would it be……and Nemo it is!

I do have some pictures of the ride itself but they weren’t really all that clear. After the ride, there are the aquariums were the kids can find Nemo and Crush swimming around among all the other critters of the sea.

There’s even a diver suspended in a tube full of water doing a show for the kids.
dis1755.jpg

With another half hour to go before our fastpasses are ready to be used, we went out in search for a real lunch. Checking the map we saw the Electric Umbrella and decided to give it a try. The meals were quick service credits and were ok but nothing special. Burgers, chicken fingers, salads and such were pretty much all you will find here. The food was, like I said, ok but it served it’s purpose which was to just get us by till dinner.

We left there around 1:20 and headed back over to Soarin’ to use our fastpasses

No sense in posting the same pictures twice, the ride itself doesn’t change after all! Here’s some pics from standing in the queue.

We head out of the ride and make our way back to the hotel to relax for a few and get changed for dinner at the Poly. Friends of ours from our real home arrived in Disney the night before and we had dinner reservations for all of us tonight. Today is my friends daughter’s birthday to we figured we do it up a little. His daughter and Nathan are in in kiddie love and neither one knows the other is in Disney World! So, we will pick this up later but for now, here’s some picture of the walk back to the International Gateway.
